Alcatel e-Pure Premium DECT Cordless Phone: received for free through the Vine programme.The phone arrived will packaged in a decent box if you're considering this is a gift.As per the instructions I charge the phone for a minimum 15 hours prior to set up or use.I like the phone's design even if it doesn't have a particularly premium feel to it, there are plenty of good features such as the multilingual menu and even answer phone greetings. The setup of the phone is pretty easy even if accessing particular parts of the menu require going through sub menus.The phone comes complete with power cable and transformer along with the cable to actually connect your phone to the telephone line, however this does not have a standard BT style plug on it and as I didn't have a spare cable available my only option was to plug it directly into my router/hub.The phone is easy to use and the call quality and volume is okay but still no way as good as my 20 year old Panasonic cordless phone.I really can't believe that in 2025 the phone does not have a backlit keypad, this really isn't an issue during a day, but if you grab the phone and answer a call without turning on the lights at night one struggles to find the buttons to receive or make a call.The call quality for me was okay but not exceptional and I would regularly get a click and break in the calls for an unknown reason, something I don't experience on my old phones. Leaving the handset off the Cradle for an hour or so, often leads to a bleeping sound for it to be replaced back on the Cradle. I've also experienced messages on the screen saying that the handset is out of range of the base unit, when the handset is only 12 to 15 feet away.I like the loud clear ringer along with the phone's design and features such as missed call alerts that actually tell you date and time of the call, however that is about it, I will not be using it as a primary phone as the call quality it's just not as good as my old Panasonic, to be perfectly honest it will now sit in the cupboard just in case my old phone was to break down

I don't ask much of a landline these days, lets face it, most of the calls are scams and cold callers, but I still have to pay for the land line in my TV package, so in that case, I will keep my landline active.And this Alcatel ePure Premium is such a stylish way to keep a land line, that I almost feel guilty that my phone is kept on a windowsill in the hallway. I absolutely love the retro styling and the pixel clock, and would be happy displaying this in a more prominent location if the cord into to my house allowed it.Of course, in the couple of weeks I've owned this, no people I know have called, but I have tested it myself. I love the concept of VIP ringtones that I can set up for my favourite people, and I am really pleased with the way you get a clear indication of who is calling, with the name displayed on the base unit, even before you pick up the phone. That way I can ignore callers with strange numbers even without going through the trouble of setting up any call barring.Faced with the current reality of boring black slab mobile phones, its really nice to bring back some style and personality to phone calls.
