The New Exotic Garden

This book is split into 2 halves. The first has slightly waffly text mixed with gorgeous photos, describing the various ways of using exotic plants to create a gorgeous garden. The second half is a directory of plants, but is so brief in places it isn't very much use at all. For example, hardiness of some plants is described as "varies according to species". It's in this area Giles redeems himself in his latest book, "Encyclopedia of Exotic Plants for Temperate Climates", which is essentially a very much extended version of this section of the book.When this book came out it was one of the first on the subject, now it's one of a selection and is less essential because of that. Nevertheless, it's a good read.

The images are inspirational but the info is brief. It gives the feel it is what it is, a cut down cheap version of the full volume work by the same author. Some plants that are named for your guidance are must haves indeed for the exotic look. It is easy to guess the author's favs, as they appear over and over. There is a basic help section for some plant care requirements, plus a brief directory of some of the best plants for the exotic look. Worth the price but way short of the depth some people would like. If this is you save for the full volume work.

Lovely book with great photos. Good for inspiration and ideas for creating your own exotic garden.The book was supposedly second-hand but looks brand-new! Incredibly fast delivery too!

Excellent Reading, just the thing for a newbie exotic gardener like myself, or the more experienced, packed full with stunning large photos and a wealth of information. The copy is in excellent order, I would purchase from seller again
