I had been shelling out about £11 per month directly to Nordvpn, not quite sure what made me search for a subscription on Amazon but I’m glad I did. It’s saved me quite a bit. I only use the basic vpn function to be honest that’s all I need and that works flawlessly I’m able to access location restricted websites when I travel with next to zero impact on my internet speed. It’s a breeze to install and get setup on a laptop and no complex configuration necessary. I haven’t used it on my iPhone or any other device yet and I doubt that I’d use even half of the 10 devices the subscription supports but for the price it’s definitely worth it.

For many years, I was a dedicated, slightly guilty consumer of Proton’s free VPN service. It was brilliant. It cost me absolutely nothing, and it worked flawlessly. I felt like a financial mastermind who had successfully cheated the system. But then, filled with a sudden wave of moral responsibility, I decided to actually give them some money for a one-month subscription. And that is when everything went catastrophically wrong. ​The moment my payment cleared, it was as if their servers decided to go on a permanent tea break. It felt like a digital smash-and-grab. The connection dropped constantly, the speeds plummeted to a crawl, and it became the least dependable piece of software I have ever encountered. It’s like going to a restaurant where the free bread basket is magnificent, but the steak you actually paid £50 for arrives cold, grey, and tasting of wet cardboard. ​Thoroughly annoyed, I signed up for the three-day free trial of NordVPN. And immediately, it was like a giant, axe-wielding Viking knight in shining armor had charged into my router to save the day. Within about five minutes, it didn’t just beat my old provider; it utterly humiliated it. ​Since upgrading to this one-year digital code, the connection has not dropped a single time. Not once. The speeds are absolutely blistering, and the sheer volume of server locations you can choose from is mind-boggling. You can pretend your computer is sitting in London, Tokyo, or Reykjavik at the click of a button. Better still, the license allows you to run it on ten separate devices simultaneously. That means you can protect your PC, your phone, your laptop, your television, and probably your smart toaster without the system even breaking a sweat. ​It is, quite simply, everything a VPN should be. It is incredibly easy to use, remarkably good value for money, and it actually stays connected to the internet. If you are tired of being let down by glitchy networks, stop overthinking it and just buy this. It is a total triumph.

NordVPN is the best value for money, full stop. However, it took me a while that the software is not seamlessly running with Firefox on Windows 11. I am a UK based German expat and need sometimes bypassing geo-blocking, not a lot of total usage, mostly streaming public broadcasting, and this VPN is doing its job well for a fair price. Firefox is my choice of browser and I will not change this even if it means sporadic speed issues or that I have to open new tabs to avoid waiting for timeouts before being able to close tabs that are not loading correctly. I acknowledge frequent updates but not five stars yet from me.

Sorry Nord, but I can't rate your VPN. One pc it wouldn't go on at all, something wrong with the .net thingermajig, and on the other it takes awhile to kick in, and once it has it pops up across your full screen. I've searched and tried everything to stop this happening but in the end I had to disable it. When I tried to return it, which really meant just switching them off, I was told I had to return it to the seller, gave up in the end. I'm blind so things like that get the better of me. Gone back to McAfee, turns on every time, and it's working in the background.

Nord is the de-facto industry standard in VPNs. Works well on an Apple iMac with the latest Tahoe operating system. Allows me to download whatever torrents I want, that's all that needs to be said really.

It is a must to have when travelling and accessing the Internent from unknown providers. The speed and compatibility are fine, never had a problem. The speed is slower than the broadband, but with WiFi there is almost no difference.
