Update: I'm very impressed with their customer service. Over a year later I replaced my hall carpet with hardwood and decided I wanted a tread at the top of the stairs and they were kind enough to send me one for free in a very quick time frame. No questions. I'm not a huge fan compared to my last treads, but, for the price they're pretty good. I read the measurements and measured my current treads and according to the measurements I had, these would be bigger than my current ones but they were smaller. In the pic they take up a lot of room, but, in my home they don't cover near as much of the stair. That might not be a big deal to most people, but I have 2 toddlers so when there is quite a bit of exposed area, they become a bit more dangerous. I actually slipped on a stair already going from the tread part to the smooth part near the edge of the stair. They are on the thin side. They still work, but they aren't cushy on the feet. The pattern is pretty but there isn't as much of a contrast as you see in the picture. They did arrive very quickly, and, like may others, I requested an extra one because I have 14 stairs and the seller graciously sent me a free 14th. That's what bumped it up to 4 stars. On the treads alone I would give them 3 stars but combined with the great service from the seller, an overall 4.

I am disappointed the product changed. When I ordered the brown treads last year I was very happy with them. They were cut evenly and stuck well to the stairs without any adhesive, but had a tape included if you needed it. I ordered the grey because my dog is having difficulty seeing the stairs with brown treads on brown wood. I unpacked them and set them out to flatten. When I went to install them I discovered these have Velcro sewn on the ends to attach them to sticky Velcro on the steps (included). I just spent an hour picking the Velcro off the treads with a seam ripper. The Velcro would have made them too high on the ends, plus I didn’t want adhesive on my stairs. The cuts are not as even - narrower in the center. Overall, still nice stair treads, just not quite as good as what I purchased previously.

I purchased these treads 7 months ago for my first house to make it easier on my 12 year old Border Collie to use the stairs. I liked the design and color of these treads and found them easy to install and I believe they helped my pup feel more confident using the stairs. The 'pile' of the outdoor-like carpet is very short and is only on the raised portion of the design. These started to come up after about a month so I purchased additional tape which fixed that issue. We live in a split level house, just my husband, 2 dogs and I so there isn't a ton of traffic on the stairs. The first picture is the top half of the stairs, you can see the stair with the new replacement tread on it for comparison. You can also see that the front of the tread on the second stair from the bottom is no longer flush. The second picture is a closeup of the 3rd and 4th stair where the 'carpet has worn off. I would only recommend this product if you need a decent looking 50 dollar quick fix that you plan on replacing.

These stair treads are basic, nice, and get the job done. They're low profile, and they feel more like a thick, heavy felt than they do straight carpet fabric--and this is exactly what I was looking for. As my large dog recently turned 12, she was becoming increasingly anxious about taking our slippery, wooden stairs, and she would sometimes lose her footing on her way up. Installing these was a breeze, and my dog now ascends and descends the stairs with confidence and, quite honestly, a sense of self-esteem that is not entirely earned. I was exceptionally grateful for the carpet tape being included, since I'm lazy, and it was one less thing for me to think about. Luckily, the amount of tape included was enough to fully cover the edge of all 13 of these, and it's even stickier than I expected, so these treads are all very securely anchored down. This is irrelevant, but the tape is sticky enough that I am *for sure* going to be using it for pranks around the office. If you like pranks and your dog and grippy stairs I guess, these stair treads are for you.

Update: 4 months later and I have to severely downgrade my review. The dog has gone back to be uncomfortable with steps as the backing and the tape don't hold together long and now the whole thing just slides all round the step. They also started fuzzing... The edges look all fuzzy and they generally look pretty awful. They get a lot of use between two kids, two adults, a cat and one dog... And another dog who will occasionally attempt the steps (no matter what she slips, but the unstable rugs don't make her feel any more confident) I'm pulling them all off at this point because they just can't stay in place with all the traffic and look horrible. *** Original: My only complaint about them is they look lighter in the photos than they do in person, but that isn't even enough of an issue to remove a star. We got them mainly to give our Bassett Hound a better grip on our wood stairs. She's tumbled down a number of times recently and will stand on the landing whining instead of coming down until one of us comes and stands in front of her so she has someone soft to land on. The carpet, even without tape, stayed very well, they did slide back a bit when the kids ran up and down the steps, so I had to use the tape because the dog tends to get her paws on the edges of the steps, so I needed them to stay on the edge. One strip of tape has kept them in place. Overall I am pleased. The dog is happier however now the problem is she's too long and doesn't want to shrink to half her size as I instructed (she's big for a Bassett, so she's got a lot of back length, for 5 years she had no problems, but she got older and less confident). Something the carpet can't help with, but she does feel more confident.

These stair treads are exactly what I was looking for! We have a grand-Pup who loved our nasty, dingy carpeted stairs. In fact, he didn't take too well to our new wood stairs. He was afraid and had a hard time getting a grip on the steps. Even after we put the treads on he wasn't too sure about it. We've had it on there for a couple weeks now and he's gotten use to them, laying on the stair (and the tread) when the sun hits the stairs thru the skylight. (I wish I got a pic of him enjoying it but I didn't!) They are on the thinner side which is great because it doesn't cause any instability when you step on each stair. Although they're thin, they still feel like good quality. They come folded in half but once laid flat they flatten out pretty quickly. We haven't adhered them to the stairs yet - the set comes with a roll of the adhesive - but we will be soon. We held off waiting to be sure our grand pup was ok with them. I had a need to reach out to the company thru Amazon and they responded right away. Great customer service! I highly recommend these stair treads and this company! The stairs in my house are made of wood and very slippery. I ordered these stair treads to have some traction and reduce the likelihood of falling down the stairs. These were just what I was hoping for. I ordered the brown and really like the design. The order comes with a roll of adhesive tape. There is enough tape to put two long lines of tape per tread. I turned the treads over and put the first line of tape near the top edge, running the length of the tread. I put the second line near the bottom edge, again running the length of the tread. Then I removed to layer of film that prevents the tape from sticking while applying to them to the treads and put a tread on each step. The treads work perfectly. I feel so much more comfortable having the traction on each step. My feet do not slide, even while wearing socks. The treads stick very well to the steps and do not move at all. I highly recommend this product.

Bought these to keep my older dog from slipping while going up the hardwood stairs. They were great. She now runs up with confidence. I wouldn’t recommend them for much else though.

Work fine when they stay dry I needed these for outside on the steps. Unfortunately when wet are very dangerous. I stepped on the first one and next second I was one the bottom step. A few bruises but no breaks.

The carpet is very rough and hurts my feet if I step on it barefoot. Also the Velcro is sewed on it and it's not really customisable.
