Shure MV6 USB Gaming Microphone for Streaming & Recording

If you want anything close to the SM7dB but don't want to spend that much, this is a no-brainer. The MV6 gets you most of the way there for a fraction of the price. I've used a handful of USB mics over the years and the MV6 is the first one that made me stop fiddling and just record. Setup was genuinely plug-and-play over USB-C — no interface, no phantom power, no drivers. Within about two minutes I was tracking. What surprised me most is how rich and full my voice sounds. It's a dynamic mic, so it rejects room noise and keyboard clatter really well, but the detail and warmth you get almost feel like a condenser. For podcasting, streaming, and voice recording it hits way above what I expected at this price. A few things I appreciate: - Voice Isolation and the Auto Level mode do a great job keeping levels consistent without me riding the gain. - Headphone monitoring straight off the mic means zero-latency playback while I record. - The Shure app (Motiv) gives you real DSP control if you want to tweak, but the defaults sound great out of the box. Minor notes: it needs a boom arm or stand (not included), and like any dynamic mic you'll want to speak fairly close to it for the best tone. Neither is a dealbreaker. Overall this is the easiest recommendation I've made in a while. If you want that Shure dynamic sound without the price or the XLR setup, the MV6 nails it.

My wife and I use this microphone to record voiceovers for our YouTube channel, and it has exceeded our expectations. The sound quality is incredibly impressive for the price. Voices come through clear, full, and natural, and the voice isolation does a fantastic job of reducing background noise. We record in a normal home environment, and the microphone does an excellent job focusing on the speaker while minimizing unwanted sounds. Another thing I appreciate is how simple the microphone itself is to use. Once connected, it just works. The build quality feels solid, and the included stand is sturdy and stable on a desk. Nothing about it feels cheap, which is something I've come to expect from Shure products. My one complaint is the software. It works, but it feels a bit dated and isn't the most intuitive program I've used. I ended up watching a few YouTube tutorials to understand all the settings and features. Once I got everything dialed in, it was perfectly manageable, but I do think the software could be more user-friendly. That minor criticism aside, this microphone has been an excellent addition to our YouTube setup. The audio quality, noise rejection, ease of use, and overall value make it an easy recommendation. If I were building our setup again today, I would absolutely buy this microphone a second time.

I'm not an audiophile, but I really enjoy this mic. It sounds good and the software is good. The only two issues are minor, the mute button is very sensitive and I accidentally mute a lot, but you can disable the mute button and the included USD cable is almost comically short, but I used a spare cable I had laying around the house and it worked great.

This mic is perfect for gaming or work use. I’m always told the sound quality is great, especially the closer I bring it to my mouth. Overall it’s a great solve to step into a recognizable brand. Would recommend for podcasting too if starting off in it. A nice mid price offering good mids to highs in range.

Mic works good, looks good, sounds good. The one design flaw is that the mute button can be facing downwards (out of view) depending on the type of mic stand you buy. Shure should add an LED strip going around the mic instead of that green, or at least another LED on the opposite side, that way you can always tell if the mic is on or off regardless of orientation. Pretty good value for the money though. Simple plug and play.

I bought a $250 headset for gaming and ppl were telling me that I sounded like I was talking into a can so I was disappointed with that headset purchase. I decided to try an external microphone and I know ONE NAME that has stuck in my mind for years was and is Shure! And man....what choices you have from Shure! But I wasn't looking for podcast level mic or anything that had a mixer board involved. I saw that this mic is a USB and it is exactly what I needed! One thing that you should pay attention to is how easy you can mute this microphone by moving it or just brushing up near it. That's my only grip about it (that's a lie. More below). Other than that it's a damn good microphone and now everyone tells me that I sound crystal clear and that makes it worth it! The app you have to download is pretty straightforward and easy to use. The stand it comes with is pretty solid for a desk stand. To my SECOND grip.....the USB they provide you with is like a foot long. Be prepared to buy a longer USB cord. Oh BTW I don't have to have this mic 2 inches away from my mouth. I can have it up to 16" away from my face before the sound starts to fade. Great product and totally recommend this microphone!

Just a disclaimer that I am by no means a microphone or audio connoisseur. This mic is actually my very first external one used primarily for gaming/discord chats. Really really simple set up procedure, just one cable that's all, the software you get is basic enough but you can still do a lot with it. Great features in thge software with good background noise cancellation, pop filtering and a high pass filter if you require. This along with all the audio features in discord then the mic acts brilliantly. I am that annoying guy that usually has background music coming through his mic in the chat while we are all trying to play a game haha but I was pleasantly surprised with this as the noise cancellation and the correct adjustments to gain, my chat could not hear any background noise whatsoever, whether that was my music, football on the tv or the rattling of my mechanical keyboard so that was a big big plus! The design is fairly basic but clean enough and slick, the green isn't my favourite colour but if that's one of my main comlaints I guess the mic itself does a great job. The sound quality is fantastic and I really do love the mute button located on the body/casing of the mic, its a flat non-press button so a simple tap is enough, I just wish the light indicator was a little better because it's almost impossible to tell if you're on mute or not at a simple glance, unless maybe if you're in the dark. Overall, I am delighted with the purchase and I can not reccomend this mic anymore, especially for the price. Brilliant value.
