Is it possible to transmit tv sound to the receiver wireless?

I believe the answer is yes. The receiver has both Bluetooth and wireless built-in. If your TV has Bluetooth and/or wireless, it should work. The manual for the receiver is available in .pdf format for download from the Yamaha site, where you could find more information.

I will be doing a 5.1 set-up inside. can i switch on zone 2 for outdoor speakers and switch off zone 1 so it won't play inside?

Unfortunately, this switch does not turn off switch 1.

What are the key differences between this and the 685? With the price the should I just get the 685?
