Clean your fridge really well where you intend to stick the black mounts. Dry fit the mounting locations so you leave enough slack on the cable to latch it but also snug enough to keep the door closed. Mount the key side on the fridge and the cable on the door. Otherwise you risk closing the cables in the doors when not locking them. We got these to keep the toddlers out of the fridge. They like to break eggs on the kitchen floor. While I'm sure it's a lot of fun as a toddler it's a lot less entertaining as the person buying the eggs and cleaning up the mess. These are strong enough to keep the littles out and easy to use and Install. The lock and key could be better quality, but it works.

This was the perfect solution for what I needed it for... or so I thought. I purchased these locks due to the fact that there's a child in the house who likes to wake up in the middle of the night and raid the fridge - to the point where his dr advised the we lock up the food but keep a snack box so that he can eat out of. So I purchased this set of "locks" and installed them. Everything was great then I noticed things that were in the fridge when I went to sleep, were not when I woke up, but the locks were still locked in the morning. Until one night, me and the wife went downstairs, locked up the fridge before going, making sure to tug on the cord to ensure it was locked. The kid should've been asleep. When we came back upstairs and seen that the fridge was unlocked... Long story short if you use these remove the butter knives from your house because that's all that's needed to unlock these locks.
