"It's a new chapter in Mushroomhead's evolution. There are sounds on this album that sound so brutal and huge. We focused on delivering some vicious hardcore mixed with heavy melodic hooks. Lyrically, it definitely reflects where the world is at this moment in time." Mushroomhead's follow-up to 2003's "XIII" (Republic/Universal) will mark the group's recording debut with singer Waylon, who replaced frontman J. Mann in 2004. The album's first single will hit radio in mid-August. The band will begin a world tour starting September 12, 2006. Review: A solid album from the metalheads - A decent heavy metal album from the boys, 5/5 a great price with plenty to offer for metal fans. Review: Awesome - what can i say, Mushroomhead band rules, they are epic awesome, fantastic brill great, epic epic epic epic awesome to say the list

One of their best albums
looking at some of the reviews already here, i can see that their are some mixed views. i bought this album on the day of release and i havent stopped listening once. the opening track 1200, starts off very much like their old style from XX. fast paced guitars and vocals. Simple Survival goes to their touch on neo Dark Wave with fantastic work from samplist Stitch. then track 3, Stone, still hitting on the Dark Wave synthersizers bring in the heavyness from track 1 and combines both to create a very rare type of industrial metal. the rest of the album follows suite touching on all 3 types of styles they have tried on this album. this album is for anyone who is bored with slipknot, like thier industrial metal and dark wave genre's. they have dropped their Nu-Metal style and have gone for the goal of becoming something different. they have achieved it with this album. in responce to the new vocalist, as pointed out by the last review this dude can sing, scream, shout and growl. J-mann might of been good at what was past, but Waylon brings something new to the group and makes them something different. if your hoping for a repeat of old things then you shouldnt be listening to music. nothing stays the same, so dont expect new things to sound like the old. best tracks - 1200, simple survival, stone, the burn, cut me, the fallen and embrace the ending.

Ace, catchy, deep.
Yes, this is not a carbon copy of the album 'XX' and yes, they have a new singer. However, as an album Savior Sorrow still has that Mushroomhead sound and is by no means a departure, listen to it right after their previous release 'X111' and you'll see it is pretty much the logical progression. For fans of the band's more metal influences, there still are the fast heavy numbers, for example 'Tattoo' is as Mushroomhead as it gets, and 'Burn' is heavy and bouncy. For fans of the other side of the band's sound; they also have a more obvious industrial influence this time around, but never overbearing-ly so, and any electronics will give way to raw band composition and live performance, as displayed on the superb 'Erase The Doubt.' This album is a grower, and maybe you'll have to get used to Waylon... but this is also a great rocking record that is very enjoyable to listen to. Loads of Faith No More influenced atmosphere, Pantera brake downs, and brilliant vocal patterns. In fact, its a very deep album, far from simplified, it takes repeat listens to absorb the depth and feel. Overall; Just plain good. Give it a fair chance.

It will grow on you
I have to say i totally disagree with the review from Jack "Johnny" Ok i must say the album is different to there other stuff, but its a good different and its still mushroomhead. Waylon is a fantastic vocalist he doesnt just growl and shout he sings unlike J mann, dont get me wrong i love J mann as a vocalist but things change, music never stays the same. I suggest you listen to the album more then once, give it a good listen and you might realise its actually a great buy. Id say the best songs on the album are Simple Survival, Save Us, Tattoo, Burn, Just Pretending, and Embrace The Ending Just give the album a chance. I know i will be buying it on its release date.

More Like 3+1/2. Decent but... meh
It's not that it's a bad album. It's quite decent but I love Mushroomhead for their very unique sound. A bit of that shows through in this but it feels very dumbed down. As others indicate only really select tracks stick out. I'm all for music moving forward. XX and progression into XII made outstanding albums. Not that I have anything against the new singer but when he 'sings' it kills the Mushroomhead aged, tormented and tortured sound. Almost always when the singing kicks in it feels fairly generic, seems like so much other stuff that's kicking around which isn't that great. Who'd have thought it'd make such a difference. Doesn't quite fit M'roomhead Rest the time he's perfect. Carries on the unique Mushroomhead sound and actually nearly identical to the previous vocalist. I think even more vocal definition so improvement. That's an interesting point. New vocalist yet trying very hard seems to sound exactly the same...with good reason. I think if was all singing most would pass it off as nothing unique. Album is decent. Didn't think it particularly special thought and I find myself now 4th time through skipping past much to get to the worthwhile tracks. Unmistakable Mushroomhead sound is there but much diluted, as though aiming for more open audience :( Worth it if a fan

More than happy with purchase. Product packaged really well and not damaged. Only downside was not having any tracking information and it seems this is the case when Royal Mail is used.
