Der Mond: The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Volume 1

I bought this as a gift for a friend, but I looked through it beforehand and I thought the artwork was beautiful. I'm not a big Eva fan, but I really liked it and my friend who is a massive fan loved it. So I think it is a great book for those who like Eva and art/concept art.

I bought this for my grandson and as he is already a great fan he was over the moon.

A sumptuous feast of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto's superlative art-work. Measuring 10 inches by 13 & 120 pages it's crammed from cover to cover with full-colour pictures of all the EVA characters (human, angel & bio-mechanical) plus early concept sketches & with an added 30 pages of "other Works" - what's not to like? A must for every Evangelion fan.

For everyone who is an Evangelion fan this is a beautiful treat the art is simply stunning I'm happy to own such art book its totally worth buying.

Full of of early sketches and conceptual artwork, a great present for any Eva fan.

This art book is huge! It really highlights the great artwork by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto. The comments towards the back end of the book are also really interesting as you can learn about some of the techniques used to create his pieces of work. The Evangelion pieces are fantastic and beautiful to look at/take inspiration from. However, I wish that it was only book about Evangelion though as the last 10 ish pages are otherworks. They are still beautiful but, I would have preferred to have seen more Evangelion works.

Der Mond: The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion is just one of the many books on the popular anime. Many of them are in Japanese. This is one that's translated to English by publisher Viz Media. It's a larger than usual art book, hardcover, 120 pages and reads from right to left. It collects the art of Yoshiyuki Sadamoto, the Japanese artist who created the characters for Evangelion. The pages are filled with huge beautiful prints. If you collect the manga series, you'll find some pieces familiar because they are the chapter splash pages. Most of the art are character based, and there are also some sketches which I like. It's not all Evangelion art though. Towards the back there are also illustrations from other projects like games and other anime. The only I recognise is Fatal Fury fighting game. The others are The Wings of Honneamise, Leiqunni Nondelaiko, Nadia of the Mysterious Seas, Aoki Uru and others. There's even an album cover for Eric Clapton. There isn't any commentary beside the credits for the illustrations. Nice book for the anime and manga fans of the series. (There are more pictures of the book on my blog. Prodotto veramente magnifico, la stampa delle immagini è impeccabile! Ancor meglio sono le illustrazioni proposte nel libro: veramente uniche e magnifiche... Dalla scelta delle rappresentazioni alla vivacità dei colori suscitano un emozione di magnificenza agli occhi di chi lo guarda. Sono sicuro che questo è un buonissimo acquisto per chi è appassionato della serie.

If you're a huge NGE fan or are getting a gift for someone that is, this book is perfect.

Es impresionantemente grande y la calidad es espectacular. Llegó bien salvo por algunos defectos, alguna esquina estropeada y las páginas algo abombadas por la humedad, algo de lo que se han quejado otros usuarios. Estoy muy contenta con mi compra y me alegro de haber podido conseguir Der Mond.

I started watching the manga during the pandemic and was fully into it. So naturally went all out buying the related stuff including this book. It’s good for fans but after the hype dies off, it’s alright.

Mas que nada este producto esta hecho para los seguidores del trabajo de Sadamoto, claro incluido Evangelion pero también hay otras ilustraciones de sus trabajos en FLCL, Nadia, La chica que saltaba a través del tiempo, la portada que hizo para Eric Clapton, algunos trabajos personales, etc. Así que tal vez algunas personas se decepcionen algo cuando compren el libro y vean que no es 100% Evangelion y no entiendo porque el titulo de este articulo dice “The Art of Neon Genesis Evangelion” en ninguna parte del libro dice tal cosa. En cuestión de calidad, el libro es asombroso, su tamaño es mucho mas grande de lo que pensé, la calidad de la pasta dura se nota que es extremadamente duradera, el grosor del papel es muy alto de buena calidad, así como la tinta es también de calidad suprema.
