Drill America - DWTPT1/8-1SET 6 Piece NPT Pipe Tap, Carbon Steel, DWTPT Series Set, 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1" in Wooden Case

So after making poor decisions and trying to save money and learning that you get what you pay for I finally broke down and got this set. Extremely pleased. This set did the job nicely on brass with plastic infused metal. I also attempted it with a little bit of a harder iron and it cut fine. These exceeded my expectations and got me through a challenging situation that I was placed in. Like most tools you get what you pay for and I’m glad to have this in my toolbox.

Great taps but the wooden box was broken and no way to contact seller other than to return it so I ended up gluing it back together.

My RV water heater element went bad and had to be replaced. Unfortunately the hole was so corroded that the new element wouldn't seat fully and thus couldn't seal, resulting in a slow leak. Everyone I talked to said it was time for a new water heater, over $500! After tapping the hole with this set the new element now seats and seals perfectly.

i'm giving it a 4 because i really do not know how they will perform, they are not made in the USA and i really do nottrust china in tool making

Very handy and my favorite kid loves it.

Since these are not HSS, they would struggle to tap new threads into ferrous material, but they work great to chase damaged threads in steel or cast iron. They would although work well to cut new threads in softer materials. They are nicely machined, sharp and come in a nice wooden box.

Good tool great product. I have already fixed multiple fittings with this by. I am very happy.

Drill America DWTPT1/8-1SET 6 Piece Carbon Steel NPT - I purchased this set for work for cleaning out and repairing damaged threads. It’s been working solidly for two years now. I use it occasionally on 306 stainless for cleaning out the threads. Great kit, worth the cost.

Excellent taps a must have for Mechanics/DIY working with hydraulics and air systems with npt. Had to cut a nipple off of an airbag and tap a hole to accept brass air fitting…dealership sent wrong air bag 🤷‍♂️ Had to improvise and had just put this set on the truck 💪.

Have not used these yet but I trust the quality to be high. These come in a wooden box, with metal hinge. Excellent package. Feels like a good investment in a tool that I will have for lifetime. Thank you.

High quality and cleanly built, unfortunately couldn’t use these taps because I wanted the fine threads and these were course threads, and the product description didn’t state that fact so I had to return them..
