A USA Today Bestseller A cat a day keeps the doctor away… Discover the award-winning, bestselling Japanese novel that has become an international sensation in this utterly charming, vibrant celebration of the healing power of cats. Tucked away in an old building at the end of a narrow alley in Kyoto, the Kokoro Clinic for the Soul can only be found by people who are struggling in their lives and genuinely need help. The mysterious clinic offers a unique treatment to those who find their way there: it prescribes cats as medication. Patients are often puzzled by this unconventional prescription, but when they “take” their cat for the recommended duration, they witness profound transformations in their lives, guided by the playful, empathetic, occasionally challenging yet endearing cats. Throughout the pages, the power of the human-animal bond is revealed as a disheartened businessman finds unexpected joy in physical labor, a young girl navigates the complexities of elementary school cliques, a middle-aged man struggles to stay relevant at work and home, a hardened bag designer seeks emotional balance, and a geisha finds herself unable to move on from the memory of her lost cat. As the clinic’s patients navigate their inner turmoil and seek resolution, their feline companions lead them toward healing, self-discovery, and newfound hope. Review: Cat lovers will appreciate this book - Could not put this book down. Enchanting. Well written. Unique plot line. Satisfying. Not so much of a fan of the ending-last chapter, but the rest of the book is a winner. Passing my book to other cat lovers. Review: Seek and you will find - If you bring your problems to a clinic for the soul, you should expect that the treatment could be unconventional. Whether you believe you have a soul or not, you will enjoy the experiences of several residents of Kyoto who are lucky enough to find the clinic and as it turns out, perhaps their soul. The principle characters are unique and show up unexpectedly throughout the stories, and you have to love the cats. The sequel will be a must read.

Whimsical, Fun, Heartwarming Read
I never really read books of this style, but ever since I adopted my first cat I was drawn to the book (especially by the title)! I completely resonate with the “patients” of the story. My cat feels like a prescription who healed me in many ways that are indescribable and unique to her. Just like this book: I can vividly picture the text and love the writing style. Everything about this was perfect. I loved it so much I preordered the second book right afterward. It’s an easy read that I didn’t want to put down :-). Good for cat lovers too!

Cover was misleading
The cover looked so promising. I anticipated a novel but found the book contained multiple short stories. The first story was fun to read and I expected a continuation and development of the characters presented, but instead the chapters and content became formulaic and progressively uninteresting, especially the last two. The premise of the book was such a fun idea, too bad it didn’t materialize into a coherent story. There were also too many names to keep track of which made reading the book confusing. Disappointed.

Strange but interesting
Wasn't sure what I was getting into but kept reading. It indeed is about people being prescribed a cat to help them with their emotions. Stress, loneliness and other issues. No foul language or violence. Once I convinced myself to finish the first story, I kept reading. Not my usual thing but I did enjoy it. It's interesting to see what other nationalities enjoy reading. Not a long book and other than names I couldn't pronounce, this was an enjoyable read. Wish my doctors could prescribe a cat for me and I'd be healed!😂 Try this, you might enjoy a positive read!🤔😉

Watch out for pages out of order; otherwise, great book.
I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because the pages were out of order toward the end. At least they were numbered, so I could figure out how it was supposed to go. I loved this book. I'm a cat lover, and I didn't realize that it was the first of 3. Guess I'll have to get the other books.

The Power of Feline Friendship
The story tells of how multiple different humans and those close to them become something more after being prescribed a cat from a mysterious shelter. There are some mystical elements about the cats and the shelter that were fascinating but overall I was here for the stories and watching the humans develop. The artistry of the cats helps allure you but I wouldn't say the focus is on the cats. I will say there are some emotional moments sprinkler throughout that surprised me and shook me (and made me hold my furry friends extra close too).

charming
If you didn’t love cats before, you will now. An adorable collection of connected stories. The translation is good, although there is at least one concept that either doesn’t translate or isn’t adequately expressed.

Pięknie wydana osłoda dla serca.
Autorka wychodzi poza znany nam schemat, gdzie w literackich kołderkach z Japonii wałkowany jest temat straty, a krąży wokół zdrowia psychicznego. Kim jednak jestem, by to kwestionować, skoro i w mojej terapii miały one znaczące miejsce? A wydanie w twardej oprawie?

Zum Beispiel: A former colleague told me about his younger brother's wife's cousin's company'c client's client ...
