Surprisingly good.
At this price point, this kind of redefines the home coffee game. If you want to try dosing your beans and grinding immediately before brewing, but aren’t ready to commit two-to-ten times the cash to do it, this might be your destination grinder. I’ve watched the online reviews and they seem very picky about very fine variations in espresso shots, or a few seconds of grind time, or very slight differences in the percentage of fines. Ignore that stuff. I was planning to be mildly disappointed. If that’s important to you, this probably isn’t your end of the market. I think for most people, that’s an insane upsell for people moving up from canned coffee. Let’s be realistic: this is a flat burr grinder, with a small footprint, that can grind consistently from fine powder, through espresso, aeropress, filter, and drip, all very consistent and repeatable. You can switch settings easily between batches, going from morning drip to evening espresso without having to clean out the machine. It’s stepless with clear markings so you can switch settings and return to them later easily. It has an anti static feature like a much more expensive grinder so you don’t have to spray your beans every time. The workflow is really quite convenient. The clear dosing cup is a positive feature because you can see the grounds in the portafilter. It makes minimal mess. It’s competitive with grinders like the Niche Zero, and it’s potentially better, especially if you do espresso, for less than half the price. This is an excellent grinder. I have some minor annoyances. The forks for holding the dosing cup or portafilter are like a stiff silicone so are slightly floppy and less positive than I would like. It’s better than something like ABS plastic that you’d find on something from the big box. I got used to it quickly. People complain about the bellows being loose, but this hasn’t been a problem. The lid on mine is looser than the bellows so the lid comes off first unless I specifically pull off the bellows. Tapping the bellows a few times at the end of the batch to expel grounds just becomes habit, so I don’t think about it. There’s a small cutout for the cord on the bottom, so when I pick it up to clean the counter, it never wants to sit flat until I run the cord through the cutout. No big deal. It’s not super fast, but we’re talking something like 20 seconds, versus 10 seconds to grind a typical 18 gram dose? This isn’t meant to be a commercial grinder and I’m usually waiting for my machine to heat up anyway. I just think the complaints are minor for what you get.

Outstanding Burr Grinder
Before purchasing the DF54 Burr Grinder, I conducted extensive research on burr grinders. Most reviews highlighted the DF64 and DF54 as the best options for the price. While the grind speed and replacement burr options differed [DF54 doesn't have replacement burrs availabe yet since it is a new model] between the two, there wasn't much difference in grind quality. Based on this, I opted for the DF54. I've been using the DF54 Burr Grinder for the past three weeks, and it has truly elevated my coffee-making experience. Here’s why I’m so impressed: Grind Consistency: The DF54 delivers a consistently even grinds every single time. Whether I'm grinding for an espresso or a French press, the grind size is uniform, ensuring a good extraction. This consistency has significantly improved the taste and aroma of my coffee compared to my old conical grinder. User-Friendly Design: The design of the DF54 is both sleek and practical. It is very easy to adjust the grind size. The clear markings on the dial allow me to switch between different grind sizes effortlessly. Additionally, the grinder is relatively quiet, which is a big plus for those early morning coffee sessions. Anti-static apparatus appears to be working great, I haven’t experienced any static issue. Durability and Build Quality: The build quality of the DF54 is impressive. It feels solid and well-constructed, which gives me confidence that it will last for years. The burrs appear to be made of high-quality stainless steel, which not only ensures a precise grind but also enhances the longevity of the grinder. Excellent Value for Money: Considering the performance and build quality, the DF54 offers exceptional value for its price. I think it matches or outperforms many higher-priced grinders on the market, making it a great investment for both novice and experienced coffee drinkers. Overall, I couldn't be happier with my purchase of the DF54 Burr Grinder. It has made a noticeable difference in the quality of my coffee, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade their coffee grinding setup. Five stars all the way!

Great until it clogs - just buy a DF64
Coming from a Capresso Infinity and then Breville Smart Grinder Pro, and having spent some time with a gen 1 DF64, I wanted a grinder that would allow me to switch between espresso and pourover, and regular and decaf beans from drink to drink. One grinder for everything. The DF54 is an appealing option as it's affordable, single dose, stepless, and compact. At first I really liked this grinder. It's small! It's quiet! It makes incredible espresso! However, after making a few drinks the grinder clogged on some dark decaf beans. After a thorough cleaning it clogged randomly. Medium roast espresso grinds did best, but I also experience clogs on some medium roast Blue Bottle Beans (at 5am! The worst possible time!). Other users complain about clogs as well - see Youtube user CaffeMartellaSingapore's video on Feb 15, he shows that simply by dosing an extra 7g of beans his DF54 clogs. The reddit r/df54 sub is absolutely chock full of people complaining about clogs, this is not an isolated issue. While the coffee this grinder makes is excellent, and the small size, low price, and quiet operation would make it ideal for home use, the clogging is incredibly frustrating. After agonizing over options I finally ordered a DF64 and while it's larger, much louder, and more expensive, I would strongly recommend it over the DF54. It handles the same beans at the same grind settings with alacrity. Far more confidence inspiring, and lower retention. My unit might just be a dud, as plenty of people don't complain about clogging, and the Turin grinders seem to suffer from quality control issues. If the DF64 didn't exist I would keep this grinder as an espresso grinder and use a different grinder for pourover. However, given that the DF64 does exist, costs the equivalent of a few bags of coffee more, and performs tremendously better, just buy a DF64. Pros: Excellent espresso Compact size Stepless adjustment Low retention Very quiet operation Cons: Small dose size Slow grind speed Static-prone plastic dosing cup Terrible clogging issues make it extremely unreliable to unusable. Two week update: I bought a DF64 and making 8 double shots a day with a variety of dark and light, cheap and expensive beans - zero issues whatsoever. Just some static and it's a bit loud. No clogs, no retention, I haven't had to disassemble anything. Tremendously less finicky than the DF54. Which is too bad, because if the 54 worked reliably I'd keep and recommend it. Six week update: DF64 has never had a single issue. I have also been experimenting with a Kingrinder K6 originally bought for travel, but find that it works incredibly well for espresso. Zero retention, easy grind adjustment. If you're just beginning with espresso I would recommend a good hand grinder. It's far easier to learn with than a cheap electric grinder. I would take a K6 over a DF54 if I were on a tight budget. Four month update: the DF64 has clogged once in four months, where the DF54 clogged at least half a dozen times in two weeks. Same users, same coffees, same workflow.

A game changer for me
I’ve been going deeper and deeper down the home espresso rabbit hole and this has been the latest upgrade for me. I've been single dosing my Breville Smart Grinder Pro for the past several months and became increasingly frustrated with retention. I’d load 18g of beans get any random amount of grinds out, anywhere from 17 to 17.5. Anyone that’s really into espresso will tell you that controlling all variables in your workflow is key to pulling consistent shots. Even 0.2 grams difference in grinds can affect the shot. Enter the DF54. MUCH quieter than the Breville. MUCH heavier and more solid feeling than the Breville (it’s deceptively heavy). And consistently VERY little retention (0.0 to 0.1g) after gently puffing the bellows to get any last bits out. Grinds come out consistent with no clumps and with very little chaff which means no wasted grinds that fly around onto the counter needing to be cleaned up. Adjustment is simple using the dial. Just make sure you follow the directions and have the grinder empty and running while reducing grind size. I’m personally getting good results with setting 19 for medium roast but YMMV. The assembly of the hopper/bellows is just slightly iffy. You need to just make sure you hold the bellows down against the top of the unit as you’re removing the wooden cap, or else it might pop off (which it’s designed to do to access the burrs. Super minor and nothing I would make a deduction for. I’m in love with it. Just hope it holds up!

Nice consistent grind.
Bought this based on a James Hoffman video, and am not disappointed. Adjustment is smooth and holds it's setting well. Still not hard to take apart to clean. Grind seems nice and consistent. Solid build feel, this unit is a UNIT. I was skeptical about the bellows, but it does work well, very little grind is left behind. Relatively quiet too, and the noise it does make is not that horrible screeching I hear other grinders make (for me it was the biggest selling point from the video tbh). Half star off for each of two minor issues. One, the power button is awkward to reach and use when the machine is one of a row of coffee-making gadgets. If it really has to be located where it is a toggle would be much easier. Second, the supplied plastic cup is probably 90% of the remaining static issue others have noted - throw it away and get a cheap metal cup from elsewhere on this site instead, it dissipates static much better (I use a 3.5oz metal ramekin). Note the bracket does not fit my 54mm Breville portafilter, so no grinding directly into it.

Good grinder with minor annoyance...update
March 3, 2025 Good grinder so far but with minor annoyance - The quality is good but it came without configuration. I rotate until it the burr touch and it is -7. Instead heating up the dial and remove it and line up with 0 at the touch I just extend the dial with negative mark. So I grind at 4 (means 4+7=11). - The grinder produce consistence grind but some of the finer grind will stick to the side and eventually fully block the chute even with the ionizer. I need to clean the chute every week or use the bristle to clean it every time I use it. - I have no problem with only 150W as I always turn it on before pour in the beans. - Grinding your own bean is a messy business. No matter how careful you are you will still get ground everywhere. I am keeping this grinder and will update after a few more months. 4.7 star with points mention above. Update::: messy grinding, clogging often... a piece of junk!!!

Hard to adjust, clogs and stalls easily
Very disappointed in the quality of this product (or at least my unit, though further googling reveals other owners with similar issues). At first it seemed great. Quiet operation, very low retention, nice, consistent grind size. A week in, though, I pulled the plug and am returning it. Deal breaking issues for me: 1. Grind size adjustment binds when going smaller. I expect to adjust it frequently between pour over and espresso grinds, but after the first use, the dial refuses to turn towards smaller sizes, only going down 5-10 at a time, before it binds and I have to back it up 10-20. Over and over again until I get down to my espresso grind size. 2. Clogs frequently, causing the motor to stall. After 4-5 uses, I went to turn it on and the motor just hummed for a seconds before locking up. Cleaned the chute and it worked for just half a dose before stalling again. Had to remove the top burr and vacuum out all the bean debris. Two grinds later, it happened again. (This all at pour over grind sizes, with light/medium roasts) 3. Anti-static? Hah! Every dose, the chute and front of the grinder get coated in grounds, they fall all around the dosing cup, making a mess on the cup holder and counter top.

For me, this grinder was not what it was hyped up to be
I admit to have fallen victim to all the social media hype about this grinder. Sure, it's inexpensive and may very well be a good grinder for the price but it did not meet my expectation as an upgrade for my manual KINGrinder K6. The good: - Inexpensive - Quiet - Heavy duty motor (I assume because it's really heavy) The annoying: - The so called "plasma generator" (ionizer) did not seem to help to reduce the static. The photo was after grinding ONE dose. Basically, the grinder makes a huge mess and those little grounds get EVERYWHERE - The part of the grinder where the rubber bellows attaches is not ribbed at all and the bellows just slides on and off. When removing the wooden cap, the bellows always comes with it. Maybe a zip tie would work here - The grind size adjustment ring is smooth and can be hard to turn. That ring needs to be knurled so you have something to grip onto The bad: - Coffee grounds (especially on finer grinds) build up FAST and will jam up the output chute. - Output chute hole is very small (shown in photo) and it will get clogged quickly - Does not work well for switching bean types between doses Disassembly is simple enough because the top just unscrews. Cleaning it out is another story. It comes with a little brush, but I had to break out the toothpicks and bamboo skewers to unclog the grinder and it was a giant pain in the behind. When I got a good look at it, I realized just how bad a design this was. Admittedly, I've not looked inside one of these powered grinders before but it seems pretty bad compared to my KINGrinder K6. Maybe it's how all flat burr grinders are compared to conical burrs. The K6 has conical burrs and the grounds just fall from the burrs into the cup. On this flat burr grinder, the grounds are blown to the outsides of the burrs where they fall into a channel and then get scooped up and ejected down a tiny chute by three scrapers. It's way to easy for the grounds to clog up that little hole and then you're dead in the water. Not a good situation when you have a kitchen full of people who want their coffee NOW. Sadly, I'm cleaning this thoroughly and returning it. It's back to my trusty hand crank KINGrinder K6. That grinder has NEVER disappointed me the way that this DF54 has

Excellent coffee grinder - highly recommend
**Excellent coffee grinder - highly recommend!** ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Really impressed with this MiiCoffee DF54 grinder. The grind consistency is fantastic - much better than my old blade grinder. It's surprisingly quiet for a burr grinder and the build quality feels solid. Easy to adjust grind settings and minimal mess. I use it daily for my morning coffee and it's made a noticeable difference in taste. Great value for the price and would definitely buy again!

Sehr zufrieden.
