Received approx 15th March 2026. Harvested almost 1/2 a carrier bag on 21st March. Mixed sizes, trimmed, but mostly small. Grown in my en-suite with a closed door which gave me good even temps between 17C and 20C. Radiator covered so it didn’t give out much heat. I Followed the instructions and placed the cube in the larger plastic bag. The mushies grew around all open sides of the cube and I was panicking at the huge quantities that were appearing ☺️. Argh can I eat all these??? So I thought I’d dehydrate and vacuum pack them, as I buy them like this from Asian supermarkets. This was my big mistake hehe. I’d no idea how long they’d take and I put them in the dehydrator for 6 hours (the ninja air fryer works great as a dehydrator, never tried before but I will again) Sisnab and I went out for the day to Conway. On return I checked the mushies and they’d all over-dried. So much so they didn’t even taste like mushrooms anymore. So I threw them away when I thought they’d be no good even as mushroom powder in soup. So next time I need to harvest them when they’re much larger and them monitor the drying process more closely. But besides that, the product is marvellous. Worth growing because shiitake aren’t a cheap variety. Thank you Merryhill ❤️

Only got one crop from the product. Very dissatisfied and disappointed. VERY expensive for a very poor return. Would not recommend this product. Buy what you want in supermarket. Easier and cheaper

I liked the idea of this kit. Something to entertain the grandchildren with as they see the mushrooms grow. I never expected anything like the harvesting of these wee fellows. I'm on my third crop and there are still masses growing. I've got so many that I've been giving some of them to our neighbour. The mushrooms are not the prettiest ones but that's what makes shitake mushrooms so unique. They look mouldy and dark brown but taste fantastic. Once harvested, you can keep them in the fridge until you use them. For the novelty factor, it's worth the sixteen pounds I paid. The freshest shitake you can get. I just can't get over how quickly and large these mushrooms grow. From something about the size of a football. Just keep spraying them with fresh water and leave them to grow.

I’ve not tried one of these before. It is easy to grow, all you do is ask sure that you spray it with water as directed. When it was a time to take the first harvest, the mushrooms tasted fantastic. However, the second harvest did not happen (although the instructions do warn that this may happen). For only one harvest, this is very expensive for the amount of mushrooms you get from it. The advent i that you watch the process of mushrooms growing & they are as fresh as you can ever get when you harvest them. But the amount I harvested don’t weren’t the cost of the kit, for me.

Great bit of fun in lock down. Started growing in 3 days. Loads of mushrooms! I will try the oyster mushrooms when in stock. They come already planted so easy. However instructions really need to be re-written in east steps. Had to read them 3 times.
