Our iconic hiking shoe for men brings an updated look to any terrain adventure. We've transferred the fit, durability and performance of our award winning Targhee waterproof boot and brought its rugged look to a new dimension. Weighing 500g (per shoe), made from durable waterproof leather and with moisture-wicking lining, the KEEN Targhee 3 medium height waterproof hiking shoe is made from KEEN's traditional, wider shoe shape. KEEN products are deliberately developed with a natural, pesticide-free probiotic technology called Eco Anti-Odour to break down odour in sweat, PFC-free water-repellent (in applicable styles) and leather from Leather Working Group (LWG) certified tanneries. KEEN makes shoes to make a difference. From the products to the actions it needs, Keen inspires people to live and work monumentally every day. As a brand for outdoor life, KEEN has the responsibility to protect and preserve the places where all people live, play and work. Review: Very comfortable for wide feet - Targhees are the only boot for me because I have wide flat feet and these come in a wide fitting. They're comfortable out of the box and need no breaking in (I take the insoles out and use custom orthotics because of my flat feet and knee problems). They're lightweight as well which is nice but still have good hiking boot soles to cope with rough stony paths and the ankle support is good without being oppressive so you can drive a car in them without discomfort. The lacing system works very well, nowadays I simply use the lacing pattern that they come with but, in the past I've changed it with success. They only have two speedgrips but you don't need more - once they're laced on they stay laced and there is no aggravation with the laces coming undone as the speedgrips take the tension off the knot. They're grippy on wet grass and mud (I live in Nofolk so it's all zoil and grass) and even better on stony stuff when I go on holiday. My last two pairs have been very good for waterproofing, before that the waterproofing gave up before the boot did and the Targhee 3 seems generally more durable than the previous Targhee 2, in particular the rand now protects the boot from splitting. The only thing is that I need a new pair after 9 months as they simply wear out - the soles wear down so that slipping on wet grass starts to become an issue and the uppers start to fail around the rand. However the Thing is that I wear these every day for three dog walks seven days a week right through the year (yes they get a bit sweaty in high Summer but they breathe pretty well). As I clock around 4 miles per day that's around 1,100 miles so I don't mind having to replace them. If you just used them at the weekend and on holiday they'd last you years. Review: Comfortable roomy fit. - FURTHER UPDATE: The rand on both boots has now cracked, both boots are no longer waterproof and the sole on one boot is now coming away from the upper of the boot. Worst pair of boots I have ever owned. UPDATE: Had the boots just over a year now and they are no longer waterproof. The rand on one boot has split and they are showing signs of the rand coming away from the sole. These Keens are not my main pair of walking boots and I am therefore disappointed that they have worn so badly and are no longer waterproof over such a short period of time. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Nice reasonably lightweight mid height boot. Appears to be well made with a good rubber protective rand. Comfortable straight from the box with what feels like a widish fit. Have worn a number of time for mainly dry walks so cannot comment on waterproof quality of the boots.

Waterproof and comfortable
Got these in warehouse deal for around ยฃ60 a year ago and now clicked up over 1000km. They were comfortable from the first wear and have remained waterproof. Wear on soles and slight cracking on synthetic upper section but no issues for waterproof or grip. At 8.5 UK size these are true to size for me with the added benefit of generous toebox. Much better fit than Salomon for e.g. which I find way too narrow. I have bought a second pair for when these retire but will see how far they will last. UPDATE. The 2023: Retired this pair at around 1200km and moved on to a second pair. These are now over 600km mainly winter use and doing great. Looking for a third pair now despite having merrell moab on standby. UPDATE 2025: Bought another pair in 2023 and started wearing them late 2024. They replaced a pair of Scarpa Terra GTX which I racked up 1939km by which time the soles became too slippy. Swapped these for my third pair of Targhees which as of 1 October 2025 have 1528km in. They are holding up really well, rand is still intact and soles showing wear but safe. I'll keep wearing into winter when I have another pair bought in warehouse deal ready to replace. Despite allof the negative reviews I have had a number of pairs of these which have been good or in current case exceptional particularly taking into account purchases around ยฃ65 mark.

Lightweight trail boots
Good so far, not the grippiest but comfortable and waterproof (so far). Iโve done 70 miles in them with no issues, they are pretty much still like new. Iโll probably wear them more in summer as theyโre lighter and not as sweaty as my other walking boots. Still preferred the Bryce mid to these, massive shame Keen stopped making them!

Keen boots
Keen offer a good walking boot suitable for extensive hiking and trail walking. The sizing is accurate. The soles are flexible but being vibram offer great grip. Good value for money. I walk daily and give the boots hard use on daily 10 k walks. They usually last about 6 months . The soles last longer but the uppers can fail. Either way they are not the cheapest boot but an ideal mid to lightweight boot.

Dont last DO NOT BUY!
Yeah I should have remembered. I had a pair of these 2 years year and as a lot of you are finding out they dont do wet grass but then after 3 years of trying the only boots I can find that do wet grass are wellingtons but you try walking 5 miles in wellies everyday! Anyway besides that I risked trying them again and yep they have already cracked at the toe and Ive not warn them everyday because the weather has been mainly dry since purchasing, however these are advertised as Hiking boots so by that very definition you walk in them for long periods of time, no? So again not fit for purpose, comfortable yes, need breaking in no, nice looking but totally flawed design and material choice. DO NOT BUY! If I'd brought them from a shoe shop as I did before I could have taken them back again they have 12 month returns but on here Na! I'll try contacting direct. UPDATE KEEN got back to me within 24hrs : You mention that you have bought your shoes at Amazon- an authorised retailer. KEEN has agreements with all authorised retailers in place that they will help their KEEN customers with warranty claims. Thatโs why we would kindly ask you to get in contact with the customer service of Amazon (via e-mail or if possible via phone). We understand that there is no direct link on the Amazon website for submitting a warranty request. However, if you contact Amazon Customer Service and specifically request a warranty inquiry instead of reporting or returning a defective item, you can initiate the warranty process through Amazon. It's important to note that Amazon is contractually obligated to accept warranty requests for our products up to one year from the date of purchase. This means you can address your warranty concerns even after the initial purchase. Spoke with Amazon and they are on their way back and money is refunded on receipt. I've now brought a all leather pair based on KEENS reply, guarantee and customer service.

Good shoe initially but very poor quality
I've had the shoes roughly 11 months and I have the same issue as a lot of reviews are saying. Cracking in the outer leather making the shoes not waterproof anymore. Initially the shoes were great but I don't think they are going to last much longer than a year. I'm glad I didn't pay full price as I wouldn't recommend these shoes at the price they retail for now. Be warned that with normal use the shoes will last you a year which is not long enough is too short for the price you pay.

Sturdy, comfortable boots
I have been wearing hiking boots throughout the year since ~20 years now and in most cases, I'm OK if a pair last me 1 year. I have gone through many brands and some have been more comfortable then others. I use the boots every day throughout the year mostly office, city walking, cycling but also on short a few hours hikes. With minimal maintenance, the outer shell is still in reasonable condition. The sole lasted well so far 1y 3months and onwards. They are fairly waterproof considering rain when cycling and crossing shallow streams. They are also a very good fit for wider feet.

Wonderful boots.
Perfect fit, even better than its predecessor, the targhee II mid which I had for 4 years. Walked 8 kms on the trails right out of the box and very comfortable, no hot spots or rubbing. Very impressed.

Truly waterproof, my best pair of hiking boots yet
I wore this for hiking Mount Rinjani recently. It was raining a lot and although my socks got wet eventually (as expected from many hours of rain), this shoe held up very well and the insides were not soaked or saturated with water, just wet.
