Jojo Mayer Perfect Balance Signature Bass Drum Pedal

I have used the pedal for one week and at first blush, it's well designed, produced and is just as described. Set up was easy but I highly reccomend watching JoJo's setup/adjustment video's online. I have tried many pedals over the years but have always come back to an old, simple strap drive pedal. As such, JoJo's pedal emmediatly felt familiar and was easy to excecute simple rhythms without feeling like I was playing someone else's pedal. I will update the review as time goes forward and the pedal becomes broken in.

I received mine today and worked with it for about 90 minutes....I just left the stock settings. The pedal is super easy to get setup and feels good right out of the box. Beautiful packaging and beautiful product design....this is undeniable. it is assembled very well and the fit and finish looks great...very sturdy and quiet...I have a somewhat heavy foot and approach with the kick foot. I really like the take down and the bag for carrying to gigs, etc....that is a real triumph I think the stock settings for me are a little light but that is easily remedied...I will raise the footboard just a hair and tighten the spring just a little. Eventually I will add a DW dual side beater because this one is too light for me. With those few veru small adjustments this will be a very excellent pedal for me. I would say it is not better than the demon drive...equally as good seems like an accurate conclusion...at a lower price point...I can switch between both easily which I like. I like the look of this pedal better than the demon drive...both factory beaters are worthless to me..I put a DW on the Demon and will do the same here....I like the feel of the demon drive footboard better for heel toe technique, but this works....but not optimal I guess. I'm going to say it was a very worthwhile purchase; I'm happy with the purchase, I will keep it and will use it regularly along with the demon and the speed cobra.

Love this pedal. Super smooth. I'm able to do double work like the techniques in the Jojo Mayer DVDs. I don't really need the fold feature but it works well. The pedal over is very sturdy. I've used it part time for over 2 years and have had no issues. Really enjoy this pedal.

I play the mess out of this pedal every single day and I have no complaints whatsoever. People are saying the footboard is too smooth and slippery and tends to get "lost" under your foot which makes them fall off the pedal.... Ridiculous. In the 2 years I've had this pedal I've never ran into this problem, as a matter of fact the smoothness allows you to do slide techniques with EASE and the extended pedalboard let's you really lay into the pedal and get some serious volume out of multiple strokes at a time. The single post construction is a definite plus since it allows me to throw my foot all over the place and really capitalize on the extended pedalboard. Double strokes? More like Quadruple strokes. This is the smoothest, most balanced bass pedal I've ever used. I've used other players pedals at gigs and now I'm like "Get that bull out of my face" Anytime someone uses my JoJo pedal they ALWAYS complement it and say that it's so easy and responsive. Hands down the best bass drum pedal in existence.

Worked great for the first month and a half as I used it for a variety of gigs and practiced with it constantly, but now halfway through the first song at practice, or a any gig I play, it just collapses despite myself being super cautious about the set-up and following all the "steps" written on the manual and available online. It appears I'm not the only one who had this trouble. It cost me a solid 3-3.5 minutes last night when my band only had a 25 minute time slot at a gig, just swapped it out for a Tama pedal that I've had for 12 years. It's really a shame because I love the design, concept, and feel of the pedal, it just can't hack it when it comes to longevity and consistency. Maybe when version 2 comes they'll work out what's wrong. Until then, this may be become the worlds most expensive paper weight. Bummer.

Arrived on time, easy to assemble and adjust. Started to leak oil/grease after 4 months. Now post will not stay locked securely into upright position, therefore wobbles, creating unstable pedal operation and inaccurate strokes on the bass drum. I'm a working drummer in L.A./Calif. who has excellent heel/toe technique, practices daily, and rely greatly on the stability of my equipment, especially the bass pedal. I've enjoyed the smooth performance and efficient design of this design. I would continue using the Perfect Balance and greatly appreciate a replacement. Amazon online options states there is only a 30 day return policy, which is an unrealistic and short term duration to evaluate a mechanical product. There are reviews of others in my same position and opinion who have received replacements or refunds within a year, and over 6 months. I've used DW pedals for a decade or more without breakage, but I'd prefer to stay with his Sonor model. Perfect Balance pedal action is a 5-star. Lifespan & durability...maybe a 3-star. Replacement or refund remains to be addressed or rated. This is a new product, perhaps there have been recent upgrades with design/engineering. My right foot and my paying jobs require 100% reliability and confidence. Sonor or Amazon, would you please address and advise. Thanking you in advance, Gene White
