What is the actual diameter of the umbrella across the bottom of the dome?

I just measured mine at 47 inches, point to point.

Is it big enough for two people?

It's a bit of a squeeze if you're a larger person like me but, yes, two people can stay (mostly) dry under this umbrella. If it's windy my left arm and my partner's right arm tends to get a little wet. (I usually hold the umbrella with my right hand.) This umbrella works brilliantly to keep me and my large backpack dry during even the heaviest of downpours, though.

Does this umbrella "lock" when opened? mine seems to be bouncy/not fixed in the open position

Yes. I've owned two of these umbrellas, and both locked when opened with the push of the button on the handle. They stayed locked until the button was pressed again and they partially collapsed. I have to then finish pressing the umbrella to the fully-closed position, which reloads the spring mechanism.

Purchased this in February, we had a windy rain storm and the spokes broke. Can it be replaced?

Yes - I believe it has a very good warranty. I've only used mine once, and it seemed very strong.
