Pinpoint accuracy, fantastic mic, sound deadening, extreme comfort, high durability. step up from the game zero
The TLDR is that I changed to these from GAME ZERO (Razer gear before that) and the GSP 600 coupled with GSX 1000 is literally pinpoint accuracy in games, and it's a notable improvement. It's heavier, but if you set it up correctly it's very comfortable, and the noise reduction is great. The only real downside is the price. Don't forget to manually turn on the 7.1 from your computer's sound control. Accuracy It's incredible, in games like fortnite I can tell where airdrops are from inside a building, or when someone sees me and tries to go around to get the drop on me I know exactly where they are. During a game of OW I could tell the location and direction of Hanzo's ult, and avoid it before I could see it. It's literally become my strongest tool in every FPS I play. Comfort I've tried a lot of headsets, and sennheiser is almost always the mot comfortable. This headset is heavier with the metal joints that add to it's durability, but it's still quite comfortable after you get it setup. Just make sure use the top contact adjuster for adjusting the strap on the top of your head (too low is too much pressure which causes fatigue, too high means it's not touching which makes the ear cups overwork.) It's not hot or sweaty, you can use this for hours without getting that annoying/painful feeling on your head some headsets cause. Just make sure you get the head strap setup correctly after adjusting the ears to the right length. Mic I've had people in Discord and now Twitch chat tell me my mic is incredible. A better story and an extreme difference in price/product, my buddy had a cheap 7.1 headset, and it was annoying to listen to. It could get almost painfully loud or too quiet and I wasn't the only one complaining, I was just the only one hearing it all the time. I convinced him to switch and my god it's so smooth on my ears. Ironically he doesn't sound anywhere near as whiny either. I've never met him in person but it's changed my mental image of him. Noise Cancelling It's incredibly well done. My wife has to tap me on the shoulder instead of yelling from downstairs. they're coming out with an open headset for about 30 dollars less in a few weeks, so it's very much personal preference. If you need to block out background noise you wont find better than these. If you need to hear what's going on around you then you'll want to wait for the 500s. 7.1 in games and out It's really well done. It's a bit hard to describe the difference but when you use something like the GSX 100 to turn it on and off it's a stark contrast. You basically go from an immersive in the game/video experience to feeling like your watching TV. I've gravitated towards watching my shows on the computer instead of on the large Samsung in the other room. ***YOU DO have to set it up manually, right click your audio device and once you select the headset the lower left corner has a configure buttons, select 7.1 and make sure everything is checked off. The instructions don't mention this, but if you need a walkthrough instruction for other headsets by Sennheiser or even the GSX 100 will get you there. Sounds quality I'm not going to get technical but it's phenomenal, this is what Sennheiser is known for. The bass is deep and the sound is so rich and smooth, you wont go back. The ear cups can indeed come off (per the instructions) though it's a bit of work. The mic seems short but it hasn't effected how people hear me other than I never hear myself breathing in it. For people using these plugging into a standard computer sound board, the accuracy of where sounds are coming from will be lower. A lot of games now enable a good deal of sound accuracy without a 7.1 emulator. If the GSX is too pricy with this headset but you want more accuracy from a particular game you'll want to look into either a bitter sound board (which can also be pricey) or a dolby 7.1 emulator chip that this headset can plug into that would then plug into a USB port. A headset like this *might* be considered overkill for just a console (though it works with both). The mic and quality of sound will still be there however so it depends on your situation.

Great headphones, don't listen to negative nancy's....
Starting off, these headphones are kinda small. I don't see how so many people claim they are so big. They also claim they are "Average". I didn't know average size was below 5 feet.... I am 5'10 with a large head. Some people also claim it hurts their head. Seems to me they don't know how to adjust fitment. So. I get the package, I open it. I pull them out, and start to try to find the right fit. I adjust each side one by one to get the cups over my ears. STOPPING THERE would be a mistake, as at that point the top band is too tight on the head. I then go one more click on each side. This makes the top band merely REST on my head, as apposed to forcing down upon it. I wore these headphones today for the first time for over 4 hours while gaming, watching movies, and listening to music to test them out. My head DID NOT get hot like people claim (nor my ears). They were very comfy. The weight isn't a big deal. They are only like 50-80 grams heavier than my Beyerdynamic DT990 premiums (600 ohm version). In terms of audio quality, I am kinda of spoiled as my sound card is modified with new capacitors and custom soldered burr brown opamps. That mixed with these headphones, makes for a damn nice combo. Compared to the DT990 premiums, the sennheiser being closed back headphones, have better bass and even punchier mid bass. Compared to sennheiser 598's, these surpass the 598's in quality AND comfort. Granted, the 598's are open back just like the dt990's. Comparing once again to sennheiser hd700's, these have better bass as they are closed back compared to the 700's open back, but the 700's top end is much softer and nicer, where as the gsp 600 have kind of a harsh top end. To me, this is easily remedied by bumping up the bass just a little bit at 32hz and 60hz. Comparing AGAIN to akai profession 50x headphones (which are closed back like these) the akai have better bass but the top end is severely lacking the the highs seem like they are missing, while the gsp 600 are slightly harsh. All in all for the price, you are definitely getting quality. Anyone complaining they sound bad, are either using a cheap sound card or worse, on-board from a cheap motherboard. In terms of microphone quality, the only comparison i can make is VS the mod mic 5. In terms of how well the microphones pick up sound, the gsp 600 microphone seems to definitely pick up sound a lot easier, which means when using technology to mute background noises, it works more efficiently. Using my sound card for noise reduction, it works perfectly and makes me sound crystal clear, where as doing the same on the mod mic required me to also use acoustic echo cancellation.... these don't need it! So far on discord, they have noticed i sound a lot clearer, as well as picking up more of the low end of my voice, where the mod mic seemed to lack the bass-y-ness of my voice. So all in all a nice clear mic so people can hear me clearly and correctly. All in all I give this headset a 5/5. I was looking for a headset for gaming, as I have been constantly using studio grade headphones with the mod mic 5.... the studio headphones ive owned are mostly open back, meaning everyone can hear what i hear, and i can hear whats going on in the room. With these I can focus on the game more. Some people noted that when they use the mic, they find themselves talking louder because they cannot hear themselves due to the sound isolation, me personally i only notice this issue if there is dead silence. if there is any kind of sound going through the headset, i don't even notice that i can't hear myself because usually when you are listening to a game's sounds, you don't anyway! Any issues people have are personally on them. The point of this headset is to use the earcups for the main force to hold them on your head. As I said, I have a large head, I don't have to adjust the "special" adjusters on the top as they are already tight. Changing that top two bands results in the ear cups pressing onto my head even harder than needed. A smaller head person would probably do a click or two, and a child three or four setting. I would recommend these for gaming, music, and movies, with a proper sound card. Sennheiser recommends that you buy their 1000 or 1200 external dac, to properly drive the headphones in terms of "quality", not so much that they are "hard to drive" as even a cell phone can drive these headphones. I would LOVE for sennheiser to make a super crazy pair, using the same mic, but having the quality of their elite tier (hd600 or better), maybe lighter weight (not a big deal but many seem to complain) and maybe include a shorter cable. My sound card has an external volume control that i plug all my headphones/mics into, which sits less than 3 feet from me. A super short headphone cable would suit me well.....

Perspective on 3 years of ownership
- I'm not a pro or an audiophile, so this is mainly just a gamer that listens to music etc perspective - This is my second pair of Sennheiser gaming headphones, the first were very similar just an older model I think these kinda sound particular and maybe even a little underpowered unless you use a small amp, which i've done with both models i owned. + Boom mute is nice and was a required feature at the time for both headsets + Ear fit is nice, albeit, warm if youre in a warm room. there are not going to be many people with bigger ears or head than i, by % of the planet, either. most hats do not fit and even larger ones tend to restrict bloodflow + Good quality of sound to the headset and it does a good job of quieting some of the ambient noise, although I live next to the street and road noise still makes it through, but, whatever. - stitching for the ear pads is obvious weak spot and was the first thing to start failing, but at least that took about 18 months for me. idk if i'd expect similar results, i kinda babied the pads seeing how weak they were - the side volume circular slider thing causes some kind of contact problem now when used and it kills the left channel, although thankfully one of its sweet spots is at like 92% or something, so, i got lucky. ------------ all in all, if i look at these as a function of $ per year spent on headsets theyre better money than i've gotten out of cheaper ones, especially when figuring in the decent quality of it all if the company stood by the ear guard problem or sold them cheaper, i'd have considered buying a third pair, but i have elected to go elsewhere. in disclosure, i no longer need / care about an integrated mic of any sort, since i wanted to open the field up for more decent actual headphones + yeti mic is quite nice and also easy to mute if youre looking at this in 2022 i assume theres better options for you, even factoring in the price, tbh. i think the ear pieces are just simply too much of a gamble to bother with i do want to say that overall i am very pleased with this product and i do not think that more than a couple years is to be expected out of a physically worn piece of hardware like this, and that the star i knocked off was because they should have known better about that ear design being crap. its sennheiser, lol

100% worth the money
This is one of the best headsets I have ever used. First: Build, I have always hated the on ear headphones or ones that push against the ears, and these never had that issue I have big ears and they sat around them very comfortably. The one cost I would say would be the ear cushion design, from the factory the connection from the fabric on the ears to the inner ear cup is glued. That glue did fail around a year after purchase, I replaced them with a sown version and those last way better (they are like $15, which I think is a good cost for these great headphones). Another thing was the connector from the head holder to the ear phone part did snap but it can very easily be fixed with some electrical tape, this did happen after three years of basically constant use though so that’s to be expected. Doesn’t need and software to use just plug and play which is amazing, the inclusion of the two different wires work well and allow great quality between either and controller or on a pc or on a phone. Second: The sound is great I have no complaints after owning them for around three years. The volume level hasn’t deteriorated in the slightest. It still sounds good and crisp. I can hear all levels of usage, voices, footsteps, gunshots, etc. the big selling point of you can hear gunshots better because of the increased bass doesn’t really matter much, it’s still good to have the full spectrum of frequencies for headphones and sound devices Third: The cost is amazing for what it’s worth, I got these ones in 2023 for around $80 and they have lasted three years

this has been one of the best sounding headsets I have ever owned
Honestly, this has been one of the best sounding headsets I have ever owned. The bases are deeper than my previous sennheiser headsets, the mids and highs are beautiful and smooth. I ran my pair through a Soundblaster Z, so there's only room for improvement from an already amazing sound if you would be running it through a better sound card. The noise isolation with the ear cups is spectactular, which is one of the reasons I'll be returning mine. I'll explain momentarily. It literally blocks out almost everything, including my own voice while I'm talking to others. If you haven't had a closed headset, be aware that that is normal for closed headsets, and the GSP 600 takes that effect even farther. The Sound Stage for virtual surround is amazing as far as closed headsets go. It feels almost like it's half way between a closed set and an open set, which is pretty nice for those who like more spatial virtual surround. Definitely a huge plus for the GSP 600's. The microphone adds another layer of depth over the Sennheiser Game One and Game Zeros. It has an almost identical sound as those headsets, but as with everything else with this headset, they take it another step ahead. I can't comment on how it would work in a streaming setup, but most of the time you wouldn't use a headset mic for that anyways. However, as I'm writing this I am currently back to using my Game One's, for a few reasons: -Weight. This thing is like 40-50% heavier than my current Sennheiser Game One's. I find it uncomfortable within the hour, but that may be due to the size and shape of my own head. I have the tension set to the loosest and the cups pulled almost all of the way out on both sides, and the weight was still causing me problems. However, a few other people I know who bought the GSP 600's do not suffer the same as I do in this regard, so it's on a personal basis. -Ear Cups cancel out too much sound. I've had a few closed headsets in the past, but this one is a little bit more...claustrophobic? I'm not sure how to explain. It's almost as if pressure starts to build up inside of the cups and gives me a weird vibe. This could be happening because I've been using the Game One's so much lately, which are an amazing pair of open phones. I may give the GSP 500's a shot when they come out, as they are basically an open version of these cans. If you enjoy a closed headphone with an unparalleled sound quality as far as gaming headsets go, with an included and equally impressive headset mic, then you will not regret getting these.

Not worth the money. (Revised 12-11-2020/03-30-2021)
New update: 03/30/2021 The plastic that holds the headband in place within the ear cup has cracked form normal use. I went to put the headset on and heard a loud crack when it broke. Not even one year since purchase. Im sorry but I expected more from Sennheiser and for $170. I can not recommend this headset to anyone. It supposedly has a two year warranty but I can't even find where one can submit a claim on their website. How low the company has fallen. Quite sad. Revision: I'm afraid I had to reduce the stars on this product from 4 to 1. Some of the other reviewers have said the ear cushions fall apart, and mine have done so as well. The seems are glued or some kind of plastic welded instead of stitched. I also find the strange felt-like covering is cracking all over and degrading, and they stink pretty bad as well. I bought these in May of this year and already they are in poor shape. For a headset with this kind of price tag we should all expect FAR MORE in the quality of the construction. The cable also has problems where the fabric covering on the cable has split open allowing a blister from the silicone cable under it to bulge through like a bubble causing a permanent kink in the cable. ------------------------------------ This was the first higher end headset I have ever bought and I cant say I'm totally disappointed with the Sennheiser GSP 600. But I do feel its lacking in some areas that could be improved on. I'm conflicted on whether or not I like this headset, but I do not hate it. Knowing what I know now I probably would not buy it again but I am not unhappy enough to just toss it back in the box and send it back. Pros: - The headset itself looks and feels like its well made. The ear cups are soft and plush and the surface that contacts the skin is silky smooth. Almost feels like some kind of fleece or fuzzy leather? Either way I haven't had a problem with my skin getting hot and sweating under it. - The sound quality on these, even without the DAC, is incredible. Far and above anything I have owned before and are plenty loud without any sort of external amp. - The microphone is crystal clear and loud. I was even asked to turn down the gain the first time I used it with friends on voice. - The quality of the cables that come with this headset are top notch. I believe it is a soft silicone rubber with a fabric covering. It does not tangle or twist up like all of the others I have had. However I do have some cons on the cable too I will go into. Cons: - This headset is far smaller than I thought it would be. The ear cups DO go over the ears but only just barely with someone with large ears. And the size adjustment simply felt it stopped just short of fitting my head perfectly. I apparently have a large head. - The pressure or tightness adjustment would had been incredible... if It actually did anything to effect the fit of the headset. This is a very tight headset and squeezes my head quite hard. Its hard to wear them more than two or three hours without getting a headache despite the very soft and pliable ear cups. - While I praised the cable for being high quality and fabric covered, it also leads to another issue. The fabric used is quite soft to the touch but is very grabby against other fabric... like t-shirts. The sound of it sliding against my t-shirt travels into the ear cup and is quite loud and irritating. Thankfully it doesn't seem to make it into the mic. - The microphone is extremely good however this thing picks up EVERYTHING in the room. Including the TV and anyone else talking in the background. While not necessarily a con it is something to be aware of. It will pick up every little noise in the room especially things like air conditioners.

I'm surprised, but I preferred my Game One headset to these
These are usually much more expensive than the Game One headset. When the right ear stopped working on my Game One (after 3 or so years of use, served me well), I thought I'd get these as a sort of upgrade... but I actually ended up liking them a lot less for a few reasons. Pros: - Feel very sturdy, some pieces are metal so it feels more premium, really nice quality overall - Great passive sound cancelling, really surprised me - Pretty good sound quality, nice mids and a rich rumbly (not-overpowering) bass - The ear cups are very comfortable and soft Cons: - Compared to my Game One headset, the highs on this headset feel less... high... It left my ears desiring more. I felt like I wasn't getting that crisp airy high sound from high-hats and stuff anymore. I kept digging around with audio settings on my computer trying to see if I could get it back, and it kept distracting me in games cause it just sounded... poor. The mid/low end is fantastic, better than my Sony WH-1000XM3s IMO. But the highs... really bugged me. A lot. - On both this and the Game One headset, if you lift the microphone it will click and mute it automatically. On my Game One, you would have to lift it 80-90% of the way before it would click and mute. On this one, I can barely lift it above a 90deg angle before it mutes. Even more annoying is it mutes before it hits the click, so there's no feedback to know I've been muted. - This headset feels heavier on the top of my head, whereas the Game One is much lighter (more plastic) and softer. Heaviness feels high-quality, but the top band starts to hurt my head after a while... - The cable is maybe 2 feet shorter on this headset than on the Game One. So now it dangles in the air from my PC to me. - They are very very large.. I love large ear cups, but the band really sticks out on the sides horizontally, like, quite a bit. Makes me feel a little bit silly - The volume control on this one is preeeetty hard to turn. It REQUIRES at least 2 fingers and quite a bit of force to turn it at all. on the Game One it can be easily rotated with just one finger no problemo Misc: - I've seen pictures posted on both this headset and the Game One about the ear cup coverings popping off... and I just want to say in my extended use with the Game One I've never had that problem, so I wouldn't worry about that toooooo much - The mic on both this and the Game One doesn't have any kind of foam covering so... if it's accidentally positioned in front of your nose or mouth and you breath on it, it WILL pick it up nice and loud. It's not very flexible either, you can aim the arm up and down but bending it left/right is... ehhhh... there's not a big range there - Keep in mind whether you want open or closed back. Big difference between these and my Game One is that the Game One was open-back, and these are not. I thought I would prefer this to keep out the squeaky floorboards of my upstairs neighbors, but it ended up feeling very... pressure-y... and a bit less comfortable especially long-term for me. and when I speak with them on, it feels weird to not hear my voice clearly anymore. This is really just a personal preference thing though, and open-backed is what I'm used to from using my Game Ones for the last few years Overall if you're coming from something cheap you'll probably love these, they're built really great and feel very high quality. But peeeeeersonally, I find the Game One headset a bit more practical for me, and I think I'm going to buy a new pair of those and return these.

Top notch gaming headset!!! Review updated after over 300 hours of gaming!!!!
2ND REVIEW UPDATE These things are still going strong. No splitting or peeling of the ear covers after more than 12 months. I did however decide to upgrade to the Arctis 7P+ wireless this week and the sound generated from these headphones doesn’t even compare. I thought these sounded really good in comparison to my old headsets and they did. But there is no comparison to the Arctis headphones. At $100 price point though, I still think these are a good option as the Arctis cost almost twice as much. REVIEW UPDATE after more than six months and over 300 hours of gaming, I’m happy to say that audio quality and comfort have not deteriorated at all. Microphone quality is still top notch and I have not had any splitting or separation in my ear cups. These things are just as good as when I first unboxed them. ORIGINAL REVIEW I’m not an audiophile or anything but when I put these on the first time after replacing my cheaper headset (Razer Kracken TE) I noticed an extremely big difference between this and the Razer headset. Sound quality is superb and the drivers recreate sound realistically in games like Call of Duty where hearing foot steps ina certain direction can easily save your bacon. I feel like spatial awareness is 100% better with these than the Razer headset I had. In addition to sound quality, these things are also super comfortable to wear for long periods of time when sized appropriately. I have a humongous head (like almost have to special order hats humongous) and after playing with the different adjustments for fit, I’ve easily worn these for 7-8 hours straight on a couple of occasions with no pain or headaches. If you’re having pain with these, it’s you. Play with the different adjustments….if my big old dome can wear these for extended periods without issue anyone should be able to. There is a seemingly common issue with the ear pads falling apart on these headsets. I’ve had mine now for going on 2 months and have not experienced this issue as of yet. I use mine 3-4 times a week for a few hours each time usually, and I’m an adult that spent my own money on these so I do take care of them as well.

Best headphones for gaming in this price range
I got these along with the EPOS (Sennheiser) 302 and the Astro A40 TR (no amp) to compare side by side on an XBOX One X console. Overall, these headphones are amazing and would recommend to anyone who is looking to game on a console. Here are some points: EPOS (Sennheiser) GSP 600 Pros: - flip to mute mic - volume adjustment knob feels sturdy and well built - comfortable on head - cable is braided and has a short connection to controller - comes with a longer PC cable - very balanced lows, mids, and highs Cons - can't swivel cups - medium clamping force compared to the other headsets EPOS (Sennheiser) GSP 300 Pros - flip to mute mic - volume adjustment knob - comfortable on head - very light clamping force compared to the other headsets Cons - can't swivel cups - cable is too long for a gaming controller and can get twisted easily (i.e. not braided) - sound is "tiny" and lacks any real bass (and I am not a basshead) Astro A40 TR (no amp) Pros - balanced mids and highs - inline mute - very light clamping force - mic is flexible and flips up Cons - no inline volume adjustment or on the headset itself - bass is boosted and overpowers other ranges of sound - uncomfortably heavy Comparably, the EPOS GSP 602 are a better headset in this price range. I know it might not be fair to compare the EPOS GSP 302, but honestly, at this price range the hardware is more or less the same, so I was hoping to not notice a difference. I probably wouldn't have noticed a difference, but since I did a side by side comparison, it was obvious that the 602's sound is far superior to the 302's. The Astro A40s are just hyped up in my opinion and are not worth the money given that there is no external volume control. If you're willing to spend more money to get the amp for the Astro A40s, they should be worth it, but from a gaming perspective where volume might change from time to time, it is a showstopper for me not to have a handy volume knob.
