Superb meat thermometer. Works very well and app is useful and easy to use.
I've had a few different meat thermometers now. This is the first to keep working and not pack up. It does its job very well and the app is really easy to use. Having a disposable battery in the base unit works well and the charge on the probe lasts ages - happily does an 8 hour brisket cook for me and would go on longer I think. I am very pleased with the temperature monitoring and the overall way this thermometer does it's job. Recommend strongly.

Great quality and good value for money
Great quality and good value for money - Was looking for a temp prob that worked on my iphone and this works fantastically well - Love cooking and this is easy to use and has a long battery life - Cooking outcomes have been faultless so accurate temperature

A fantastic gadget
I picked up the Meater Pro 2 (Meater 2 Plus) on a Black Fridaydeal and I'm glad I did. The biggest win is the high heat resistance—I can finally leave the probe in while searing steaks or grilling over an open flame without worrying about damaging it. The new multi-sensor design is excellent; it finds the true core temperature even if you don't place the probe perfectly. It’s also waterproof, so being able to throw it in the dishwasher makes cleanup way easier. The only thing to watch: You still need to keep the wooden charging block relatively close to the cooker to maintain a solid connection to your phone. Aside from that, it’s expensive but worth it for the precision and durability. Highly recommended

Excellent... when it works!
I've had this for nearly a year now, having bought it to help me get used to cooking with a smoker, so there's been quite a learning curve for me. The app was easy to set up and I had no issues pairing the probe with my phone (iPhone 12 Pro Max). The app is user-friendly and has quite a lot of recipes with step-by-step instructions which can be very useful if you're a novice. Bit annoying that it's not rechargeable, but the battery does last ages and I haven't changed it yet. In my experience the thermometer is very accurate at measuring internal temperature and the settings for rare, medium, etc in the app are spot on. The ambient temperature readings can be a bit questionable (sometimes 10C below what I'd expect), but this may be due to the probe getting covered in smoke soot/marinade/etc and being impaired slightly. To be fair, this doesn't affect the accuracy of the internal temp readings. The main issue I've had is the connection between the probe and the base. It can be really flakey and disconnect sometimes for no discernible reason. Luckily I haven't had any cooks ruined, but it is annoying when this happens and doesn't reconnect automatically. A couple of times I've had to remove the probe mid-cook, shut down the app, and start again. Not ideal if you're trying to get on with other things while your meat is meant to be cooking away, low-maintenance! Doesn't happen very often, but enough to knock off a star. I've read that the more expensive Meater Pro Block doesn't have this problem as it uses wifi, but I don't really want to re-mortgage just to afford a slightly better model. Also, it's best to take the timings that the app tells you with a pinch of salt. It constantly uses the temperature data to calculate the time until the cook is done and resting time, but these can be off by quite a lot. For example, even though you can select brisket, short ribs, or other big joints of bbq beef, the algorithm doesn't seem to know about "the stall" in temperature that happens once the beef reaches about 70C. So the app will initially tell you that your beef joint will be ready in, say, 2 hours, but once it hits the stall at 70C it recalculates and comes up with a figure like 19 hours! Resting times are also too short in my opinion. Again, for large joints of beef it normally recommends a rest of about 15 mins, when 45 mins (or 2 hours in a cooler) is probably better. Despite my whingeing, these are minor faults as the internal temperature readings have always been accurate, so as long as you just keep an eye on that it's fine. I definitely recommend it, just don't take the app info as gospel when it comes to timings.

A great concept, if only it worked reliably
Unfortunately, despite excellent results when it works, it doesn't work too often to be worth the money. Originally the probe battery was always low despite living on the charging block, they replaced the probe, same problem, they replaced the charging block and all started to work again ... most of the time, however with NO indication whether the probe is charging when on the block or whether the blocks battery is in good condition to be able to charge, there are still too many times when the probe isn't charging (despite a thorough clean each time) and you only find this out when you go to actually cook, by which time it is too late to do anything. Then there is the connection between the block and probe, I've had to reset the connection a few times in the 12 months I've had it, and since we only use it once a week then add to that all the times it hasn't charged correctly and you realise you don't really get to use it that much for the money.

A really good tool
I am so glad I spent the extra on the Pro - the wireless range is excellent and the ability to use it on a BBQ was key. The cooking guidelines/ temperature suggestions have resulted in perfect cooking so far

Amazing product and customer service.
Cannot recommend the Meater Pro more. It's a fab piece of kit which has transformed our outdoor cooking. It's super easy to use and super accurate. We use it in our Egg BBQ and also for roasts in the oven. The best bit is Meater's customer service. I contacted them on a Sunday morning via the Amazon portal to report a defective probe. The Meater Customer service team ran their own diagnostics using the data stored on the App and quickly advised that the probe was broken. They immediately dispatched a replacement free of charge. The replacement arrived on Monday morning, one day later!!!! Well done MEATER!!

Good but overpriced
This item cost £20 less on Amazon than other sellers, it works very well, even at Amazons lower price I still think the item is over priced

Perfect
I had the original meater and it left alot to be desired. It would frequently lose connection with my phone and when it did, there was no indication that it did. You would assume it was still at the last temperature. Secondly it died on me just 6 months later and meaters customer service wouldnt help me or even provide so much as discount to buy a new one. I was reluctant to buy the meater 2, because of that bad experience. There are many types of bluetooth thermometers now and some less expensive. I actually had the opportunity to beta test the Ninja. Almost all of the new thermometers, thanks to the latest Bluetooth technology are pretty darn good and accurate. What sets Meater apart and worth the extra money is its higher temperature rating, its thin design, its battery life and its app. It really makes cooking a simple process. I've only used it a couple of times now, so I cant judge its long term use. Im hoping it lasts way longer than my first one. Compared to the others out there, this is leaps and bounds over the competition, worth any small premium you might pay for serious cooks. If you're on a budget, really any of the new ones that have bluetooth 5.2 will do just fine but youll be giving up some serious quality differences.
