I am one of the owners of an Irish pub and we are family friendly during daylight hours and on weekends. Once in a while, as kids will do, a kid will have a meltdown. I bought these for just those moments, as sometimes a distraction provided by a friendly publican is just what the little one needs. I have a relative who runs a daycare center and she provided me some toy advice. It needed to be small, but too big to swallow, inexpensive, washable, amusing, safe, and preferably silent. These check all the boxes and work out to about $.70 apiece. I always check with the parents first to make sure it’s OK to give the little one a toy, and if there are two kids, I bring two different ones and let them choose their favorite shape. (Happy kids also can get toys if they appear to need a distraction). In all, these are safe, inexpensive, colorful and fun silent distractions that kids seem to really enjoy, and their parents seem to appreciate.
