Very good quality optics
Excellent Bins! The glass is very clear and true to life. Good in low light too. In a forest yesterday during the rain and saw 4 great spotted woodpeckers with them, in two different nests. They where a pleasure to use, comfortable on the eyes and nice to hold. Very solid and easy to focus. I love this size, I have the prostaf p7 in 8x30 and love them, just a perfect size and very clear. I also have the explorer 10x42 and really like the view and comfort from them so decided on the 8x32 as they are a tiny bit smaller than the prostaf 8x30 and I already know the quality. Its a good compromise on weight and size compared to what you can see. 10 year guarantee too.

good for birding
clear image and bright field of vision. Solid construction but not too heavy round the neck

Versatile focussing
I find these very good for birdwatching and also they focus down well so I can study a nearby dragonfly's jaws. Very reasonably priced.

My age ruled them out!,
Couldn't use in the field, what with my old, aged, shaking hands! I was surprised, and slightly worried that I'm so unstable! They would otherwise be fantastic! Stabilised, they are fantastic. Great clarity, and light collection. Would recommend, if you're stable.

Avoid. Bad flickering blackout vignetting to the sides of the view.
The big issue here are the side blackouts or 'vignetting'. If you don't wear spectacles, even with the eye-cups fully extended and the eye-cups resting on your brow (a well known method to extend distance to the eyepieces) flickering blackouts/vignetting is a big issue. The Opticron Discovery has the same issue. Now Ive researched it, It's a well know fault! Actually all Opticron needed to do was give more extension to the eye-cups (1 or 2 mm) - the field of view would not have been impeded but the harsh flickering sides avoided. Get the Nikon P7 8x30 instead - an incredible binocular.

Sehr gutes, handliches Fernglas. Angenehmes Gewicht, leicht zu bedienen und qualitativ sehr ansprechend. Kommt mit Tragegurt und einer Schutztasche.

Incredibly good optics and wide field of vision for such a reasonably priced binocular. Very well made right down to the neck strap.

These are amazing. Purchased following a fair bit of research, and got more than I could have hoped for. Compact, not too heavy, good in low light. I’ve used these birding in near zero F winter conditions and at summer sports games. These were my first step beyond the entry-level or family hand-me-down optics, and while expensive, I know I don’t need to upgrade short of maybe going on a safari.
