Very nice results.
I just rescued 4 pair of black jeans with RIT dye and the dye fixative. I've used Rit dye a few times now and I'm happy with the results I've seen each time. My jeans were all about 4 years old and 3 were just evenly faded after repeated washings while the 3rd pair wasn't that faded but for some reason one knee was weirdly faded more than the rest of the pants. Other than the color all 4 pair of jeans were in good condition with hardly any wear. After dying them, they all look like new. The only caveat I'd like to bring to people's attention is that this is not some 15 minute process. It took me about 3 hours to go through........... 1.) The dye process 2.) A rinse process 3.) The dye fixative process 4.) Another rinse process 5.) And finally a quick wash cycle to get rid of the excess dye that hadn't bonded to the fabric. I did it outside using the pot method. Actually a galvanized steel tub that was big enough to dye everything at once. You'll need to fill the container with water at least 140 deg F. I used a combination of tap water (about 120 deg F) and water I boiled on the stove to get the temp of the water to the desired level. You'll also need to add a cup of table salt to the hot water and a tablespoon of liquid dish soap before you dump in the dye. I'm no dye chemist but I'm assuming the soap is used as a surfactant to help carry the dye into the fabric and the salt (Sodium Chloride NaCl) must be facilitating the chemical bonding of the dye to the fabric as NaCl is a highly reactive chemical. So just be aware, to do it right you're gonna kill off the better part of a Saturday afternoon. But it is sort of fun and your clothes will look like new. Full disclosure, I've only done this with blue or black denim so, dark colors. I've never tried cotton dress shirts or t-shirts and no lighter colors so, I don't know how that stuff would work.

So far so good.
It is too early to give it a real legit rating but so far so good. I have been waiting at least 8 months for Nautica Men's Relaxed Fit 5 Pocket 100% Cotton Denim Jean Short to RESHOCK but holy shoot it never did. I just like the quality of the denim. It feels premium instead of just a thin paper feeling you get from other denim shorts. Anyhow, I decided I am just going to dye it myself and have it restore. The dying was very simple to do, It dyed the shorts to its color, it isnt jett black which I wanted but it is the color of the mixture of water to dye ratio. I did not wash it yet and time will tell how long the dye will last. So far it dyed the denim black. How long will it last ? First wash ? 2nd wash ? 3rd wash ? who knows. Will edit if the dye doesnt last at least 10 washes.

Doesn't work well with vibrant reds
Used both bottles on the same orangeish/reddish garment since 1 bottle didn't dye it all the way. I followed the linen instructions exactly and even doubled the soak time, but ultimately the garment turned out a dark burgundy or peuce. I think if the original had been something other than a vibrant red/orange, it would look fine, but unfortunately this dye didn't work well with that color combination. That said, ate washing it didn't lose any of the new color so I think the dye works pretty well.

Black Rit Dye
I found a suspicious "bleach looking" stain on a favorite velour top. The instructions said it may not cover bleach stains but it DID! While I was at it I threw in an old pair of black faded jeans and a pair of black faded shorts. All three came out great. Note: I dyed them in a Lowes plastic bucket in the back yard stirring constantly with an old broom pole for 1 hour. This is not for the faint or sloppy. I have a new washer and was not going to dye in it. Rinsing till clear is another not fun task. I went to the chiropractor later in the week after this.

This doesn’t work
Unfortunately this stuff does absolutely nothing. I put five full bottles on a vera bradley bag, followed the recipe and everything. I even let it sit for weeks, just soaking in pure dye. Only to take it out to rinse with water and it just rinsed right off. Black dye washed out with WATER, to reveal a beautiful bright pink bag?? I cant understand how. I put $60 into dye, to ensure it would be soaked and a rich black color, (which looked great before rinsing), and it rinses out with water after weeks of soaking? I cant make sense of it. But it doesn’t work, just a waste of time 😕 and a vera bradley bag

It ok but the color is not permanent at least it should stay for 3 months but at 6th wash ..It's restored itself .Seems like we always need to repeat the process after 6th wash.Compared at this price its of no use.
