Hopefully will be saving my cat's life!
My 18 yr. old cat (Angel) suddenly went off her feed and began losing weight on a drastic level. She went from 12 1/2 lbs to under 5 in a matter of weeks. She's refusing even canned wet food, which she loves & we normally gave our cats for a treat. All she'd do is drink large amounts of water & sleep, and then she cut back on drinking, too. About the only thing she's eating now is Friskies Temptations Treats in small amounts. It wasn't hard to figure out she needed drastic intervention. She was started on a strong thyroid supplement (thank goodness she takes pills fairly easily!) and I bought this Pet-Ag High Calorie supplement to at least get something into her. She liked the flavor & would lick small amounts of my finger or I'd put a little blob directly into her mouth. [It's a good idea to first put down a tea towel to protect whatever surface you're working over as this is a sticky gel that can be a bit messy.] Also, if your cat isn't licking the gel off completely you'll have to wash any part of your kitty that it gets on as it hardens on their fur when it dries. Mine currently isn't doing much grooming so it's up to me. :( I also diluted a small amount of gel with some clear salt-free beef broth (I was making soup ) and gave her some of this via a syringe directly into her mouth. This got more fluids in as well as some calories. Her appetite started to pick up a little after a day or so, so I cut back on the supplement a bit, but then noticed she wasn't as energetic when I did, so back she went on this Pet-ag gel. I've been trying this for a week now & have been feeding her an all-protein wet cat food (she only eats about a half -teaspoonful each time, so I offer it every few hours) and give her this Pet-Ag in between. She definitely has more energy, though nothing like her normal self. It'll take time for her to (hopefully) come around & improve. I'll try to get back & update this review in a week or two with -maybe- happy results. Oh, and I compared the ingredients in Pet-Ag to the other high-calorie supplements and despite the fact it's lower in price it actually has higher nutrients & a somewhat denser calorie count (200 calories per tsp) than some. All in all I can highly recommend this product for anyone's furry friend! :)

This product has given us results, and our cat loves it!
I'm very pleased with this purchase! My elderly cat was getting a little thin, so I read about this product and decided to give it a try. I'm happy to report that she has gained some weight. She is also spending more time with our family and not sleeping as much. There's really no reason to wait to give this product a try: reasonably priced, safe, and my cat loves it. She just licks it off of my finger! It's so wonderful to see the changes that are allowing her to enjoy life again.

Good product for cats
This product has been very helpful. We have a sick kitty that will not eat much. This is helping her keep some weight on. I would have given it 5 stars but we had another kitty that wouldn’t eat it. Cats are like that though. It’s a good deal for the price.

A 1cc syringe can draw this out
This is a very effective product, although some cats who need it may have low appetite and not even want to lick it off of their paws. Getting a little 1mL syringe (no needle) and drawing this directly out of the tube can allow you to inject slowly into the side of the mouth, toward the back. Not down the throat because that's a choking / aspiration hazard. Once it's in the mouth, then they tend to eat it. May require more small doses daily this way, but in cats who aren't gaining weight and really need help, it helps. It's almost like honey in consistency, and very hard to clean up once dried, so clean syringe with warm water right away if you need to use multiple times. Very small kittens need small amounts anyway. This lasts quite a while, and is a great value considering the difficulty of keeping nutrition up in some situations ( like a medication causing appetite loss) Many cats like the taste, others don't seem to care. Cats cannot taste sweet things, and it is primarily sweet, so possibly the ingredients have something to do with this. Ease of use was improved by the syringe for me. Prompt wants to know about dog health, but that's nonsense because this is a cat product which is not balanced for dogs. There's a different one for dogs. This is great for feline nutrition, but dogs and cats have different types of systems and requirements.

Lifesaver
I had to mix this with chicken baby food and a little bit of water to syringe feed it to my cat, but without this I dont believe he would have made it when he was sick. My cat has FIV, so when he gets sick he declines really quickly and usually avoids all food and water. I give him 3 teaspoons of this a day when he goes on strike and wont eat to help him get extra calories and the nutrients he wouldnt be getting otherwise. This has saved him on a few different occasions, but he wont ever eat it on his own.

Meh
My cat doesn't like it. He'll lick it if I put some on my finger, but he won't lick all of it off. Bro is just indifferent about it. Not good, not bad. Just meh.

Healthy cats eat it
My sick boy refused to eat it and it is really sticky when you try to syringe feed it. My healthy ones eat it up.
