I always wondered how my Grandpa kept his tools from rusting in the well house and what the particular well house smell was - it was camphor tablets! All you do is cut an X in the plastic wrapper of one of the tablets and put it in your tool box, it will slowly evaporate and coat your tools in a microscopic layer of oil to keep them from rusting. I actually learned that on a YT video this older man posted about taking care of your tools. This is something I love teaching people about and the camphor smell is so nostalgic!
