This is a slick little beast! I've been doing network cabling for more than 40 years. Most of the time, that has meant pulling cable from a spool then putting connectors on both ends. Way back when, cable testers were bulky and expensive. The march of technology is GREAT; this unit is small and ridiculously inexpensive. If you do anything with wired networks, you should have one of these in your bag of tricks. It means you can identify a bad cable in seconds. Note that you do not have to remove a cable in order to test it. The unit slides apart into two pieces; plug one end of the cable into each piece and the test results pop up immediately.

Gets the job done. Not the most elegant looking thing (cheap plastic housing) but it works. Helped me identify faulty cables that I had assembled incorrectly.

When I first received the tester and installed a battery, it would not work on known good cables. I was about to return it when I decided that maybe the battery was a little low, so I connected to a bench power supply and it worked. It didn't like my rechargeable NiMH 9v battery. NiMH 9 volt batteries have a charged voltage of 7.2 or 8.4 volts. I didn't test mine, but I had just charged it prior to putting it in the tester. So now I know that the battery has to be a regular alkaline battery in tip top condition for this tester. So I cancelled my return and revised my rating from 1-star DOA to 4 - it seems a good tester for a low price device, if you use a good battery.

This is a must have for someone that makes their own ethernet cables. I put up a security system for a friend and the next day he called and said that one of the cameras stopped working. Wea had ran the cables through a wall so replacing the cable would have been a pain in the ass. I was able to use this to determine the cable was not the problem. We were able to track the problem down without wondering if it was the cable I made. This saved us so much time and the price was great. It's so easy to use and I will be using this every time now before I install the cables.

Good product and works as expected, just has a bit of a cheap feel to it. On a good side, that probably keeps it a little lighter. No issues with functionality.

Works well. Not much else to say. Helped me to find out which Ethernet port in my house was connected to which wire in the network box.

It work, but the case image is misleading. It’s not rigid nor it’s a thight fit.. the pouch is a soft and a bit larger than the tester. The tester itself work, they should just put the actual photo of the storage instead of a render
