Great book
This book is great, I can highly recommend this for anyone that would like to improve on taking Psychometric tests or anyone looking to implement Psychometric testing for job interviews. The book clearly explains the concept, provides guidance and tips and contains a huge selection of practice exams. The quality of the practice questions are also great!

Better out there...
Too much talk and some parts are over complicated so not exactly "for dummies" however it is worth a try..

Excellent Purchase
Easy to use, loads of examples of tests which is exactly what I was looking for, and shows the differing degrees of difficulty.

Not very good
Far too basic for any UK graduate exams. Not recommended.

Start reading from chapter 5.
It loses a star because the first four chapters (padding) suck all the life out of you. From Chapter 5 however, it's a very good. Lots of tests for practising and good information. Perhaps when you've finished the book, "skim" through the first four chapters if you must - but I don't recommend that you start with them. To most of us, time is a valuable resource; something the author doesn't appear to realise.

While generally a useful tool to understand the general idea behind psychometric tests, this book seems rather UK-focused to me. So I had quite some difficulties figuring out some of the verbal questions with my American English, aside from the known differences like s/z, or ou/o. For some I had the wrong answer where I’m sure it’s technically right within other settings / dialects. Specifically, the book refers to some words that are not frequently used outside of the British-English-speaking community, refers to sports that are not known even in other parts of Europe, and generally seems to put quite some focus on things that may be known to a certain ethnicity/generation/demographic. If you know this beforehand you might be able to save yourself some frustration. I still recommend it as there’s simply not much else, which I guess is also intended by psychometric tests, as they are supposed to measure your natural abilities and not purely what you managed to practice in advance. Also, it’s cheap.

I thought this might be helpful for a 40ish person looking for a job who had been out of the workforce for a few years due to family obligations. He was always the best candidate and interviewed very well, but when it came to these "personality or psychometric" tests he always fell short. He was actually over qualified. The interviewing process changes so rapidly, which is too bad, because the pick is no longer based on human experience and relations, but on a flawed test......you know, "the model", sort of like "global warming". This book did help him pick up on that portion of the interview and he did finally land a job that his education and experience say he is overqualified for, but this is what he wants for his family. He loves his new job and all those who work around him, love having him there.
