The authors use of personal experiences as well as perfectly selected real life stories enables the reader to have a practical understanding of the application of the techniques and this for me made the book very relatable, easy to understand and incorporate into my daily life. The author uses straightforward language and a writing style that simplifies complex narratives, making them accessible and enjoyable to readers. I absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it to everyone, Muslim and non Muslims alike, young and old. There’ s a is benefit and wisdom for everyone. At the end of each chapter the author guides the reader on making Dua by providing examples and actionable steps to follow. Usually with such books you are left thinking so how do i do this? Aaliyah tells you exactly how. So many times in the book my heart was beating fast and I broke down in tears reading about my Rabb, His Names and Attributes it was a very humbling and blessed experience. This book is not just a story of people’s lived experiences but also provides the reader with a feeling of a friend talking through shared experiences and thinking up solutions. The power of Dua is a powerful book. Get your tissues ready as it’s an emotional ride. I got to understand myself better, and learnt to be kinder to myself and more grateful to my Rabb. Best of all the book describes my Rabb in words I’ve not been able to articulate myself and emphasises on just how much our Creator loves us and cares for us. I got this book at the right time when I was feeling low and generally overwhelmed with many things. The book provided me with the emaan booster I needed and reminded me to go back to my Rabb and rebuild my relationship with Him. A lot of the stories resonated with me and provided me with a lot of comfort, confidence and hope in my Rabb Alhamdulilah. May Allah swt accept it beautiful labour of love from the author Aaliyah and may He reward her abundantly for it .

In ‘The Power of Dua’, the author has captured in a powerful way the strength, support and resilience one gets from dua to go through this life. This book will give hope, life and joy to anyone- whether you are enjoying life relatively calmly or going through a powerful storm. As I read the book, I felt myself being calm and serene, for the Most Merciful, the Owner, the Lord of the Worlds is my Lord. How can we despair when we have such a Creator- Ar Rahman- The Most Merciful. Aliyah has captured this in her writing with her beautiful command of words and the weaving of the many aspects of her writing. The book will become your companion and friend – helping you to navigate the ups and downs of life, masha Allah. Aliyah’s voice is so soothing and authentic, and you will return to the book over and over again. I love the merger of real life dua stories, Quranic ayahs, hadith, sayings of predecessors and the guided dua section. Each page, chapter, section and story has so much to offer to the reader. The duas’ of each Prophet an what they went through- even though they are the best of Creations- leaves the reader feeling so hopeful and seeing life as it is truly- a means to acquire the akhirah. Aliya has articulated into words my feelings, thoughts, and experiences with dua so beautifully. Allah has blessed Aliyah with an amazing talent of expressing and using words that really touches and captures feelings and thoughts. Thank you, Aliyah, for this book. I have had the privilege to be an early reader for this amazing book! I have found "Power of Dua" to be a deeply inspiring and spiritually enriching book that delves into the profound practice of Dua (supplication) in Islam. My dearest friend, Aliyah Umm Raiyaan, with her beautiful articulation, eloquent writing and insightful understanding, guides the reader through the significance of Dua in the life of a Muslim. Where do I start?! When I first came across this book, I had actually started another book on the nuances of dua. Even though I was a born Muslim, I don’t feel that I ever really developed a connection with the concept of dua the way that I have now. Probably because of the fact that a lot of concepts get lost and culture gets mixed in with things, it’s been difficult for me to navigate the space between what to ask for, how to ask, whether or not I should even be asking! This isn’t to say that I haven’t experienced depth in dua before, and alhamdulillah I have been blessed with my own personal miracles…but I know that those were after desperate prayers when I felt helpless, and it wasn’t something that I confidently knew how to replicate for other things, or other challenges. So I was reading another book on dua, because I was actively looking for my dua to be transformed, and although it was a brilliant book, I found that because of it’s lean towards theoretical principles, I was struggling to personally resonate with it. At that time, I was going through a particularly difficult time, and I wanted something that hit my soul, that I could deeply resonate with. Right in the middle of that feeling, I read The Power of Dua. In terms of how the book is structured, it’s not really like any other book I’ve read before. It kind of takes you on a journey, one that I didn’t find to be linear, but it was definitely all encompassing because it introduced me to concepts and things about Allah swt that I never knew. I appreciated the mix of personal stories, theoretical explanations and guidance on how to practically apply these concepts into your life, so that’s its not just a mindless exercise - it’s hitting all of the points that are needed for real shifts in your life. Each chapter included a personal story that I felt were well selected. I didn’t find these to be just simple anecdotes; they were real life examples of how dua has transformed the lives of everyday people. There were so many different examples illustrating different facets of dua, from minor every day challenges to more serious ‘asking for a miracle’ type things, and because of this, I see it that everyone reading will be able to take benefit from or resonate with someone’s story. I found myself feeling as though the book was speaking directly to my soul at times. Some of the insights were so profound that I’ve included them in a quote book I’m writing for my daughter to pass on valuable life lessons to her when she grows up. This book came to me at the perfect time, which feels like a blessing in itself, because as I was going through my own challenges, it was as though I was being guided on: what I need to say, what I need to do, what I should be asking for, what I should be focusing by Allah swt through Aliyah’s words. It was, and to be honest, still is, really humbling to see how I was being presented with blessings and my duas were being answered in real-time while I was reading through the book. It’s actually something that I’m still struggling to wrap my head around even now, that in such a very short space of time I’ve developed a connection with Allah swt sincerely deeper and stronger than it’s ever been, and I credit this book in being a massive part of that.

Reading this book, it felt like Aliyah took my hand in hers and held on to it until I finished it. The Power of Du'a is like going on a journey to meet with Allah, no matter where you are on your journey to Him, we have clear guidance in this book of what to do before, during and after our journeys. Our journeys to Him can be at specific times daily, hourly, every minute, every second even. He is there, ever Present listening to us, waiting for us at that special time every night subhanAllah. The stories shared in the book all showed their total reliance on and a deep sense of reliance on Allah as they spoke with Him. I found so many words of wisdom in this book, sooo many gems that I eagerly await the arrival of the book itself. The way Aliyah invites her readers to interact with her in the book whilst we are really interacting with Allah azza wa jal; perfecting our du'a making with the understanding that our du'as will be answered. It's a step by step guide of how to be closer to Allah, how to begin that relationship with Him and how to sustain it subhanAllah. The du'as at the end are so intimate, humbling and full of hope, need and also show how much we are in need of His every Mercies I found so many words of wisdom in this book, sooo many gems that I eagerly await the arrival of the book itself.

I was instantly drawn to this book. It reads as though a dear elder has sat me down, holding my hand and at times an arm around my shoulder, gently reminding me about my Lord and dua. This book has been a brilliant reminder in how to get away from the robotic type of dua I became accustomed to. It resurfaced my belief that my Lord is always looking out for me and One I can ALWAYS rely on. I am once again in love with my Lord - a sweetness that cannot be described in words. This book has meant I have developed a sense of continued calm and contentment, coupled with gratefulness in what I already have, without losing the beauty of asking for more. This book consists of 4 parts. Each chapter delves into a particular topic, a profound dua story is shared, followed by questioning prompts to slow you down and internalise the subject you have read about. There is also a sample dua in each chapter to help in producing your own heartfelt duas. Each story shared has its own effect because I could relate to each story either from my own life or the lives of those closest to me. This style of storytelling made me reflect on my own relationship with dua, and the Duas that have manifested and those that haven’t and the beauty in both scenarios. I sat with these stories and the prompting questions for hours, peeling layer over layer from a rusty heart. It’s like the penny has dropped with this book. The author has dived into topics ever so sensitively yet so deeply, hitting the heart at its core. Be prepared to have your heart shaken and your emotions awakened! I’ll be sure to read this book time and again InshaAllah and I’m sure you will absolutely enjoy it just as I have!
