No - Radio must be connected to an external power supply. I do not know of any external mount radio that has its own internal battery.

What do I need to connect gps?

The wiring is included with the purchase as well as wiring instructions based on what GPS you purchase.

How do you know what antenna it takes?

External VHF antenna with a male PL259 (SO238) connector and 50 Ω impedance. Minimum 4 ft, 3dB rated antenna for sailboats, 8 ft, 6 dB rated for power boats.

Does hardware to mount in the dash come with the radio?

A mounting kit does come with the unit.
