Abdominal Binder Post Surgery, C Section, Hysterectomy & Postpartum Band

So with my last pregnancy I tried a Belly Bandit and it was ok, but it didn't stay in place and moved up throughout the day. The Bellefit seemed like it would fix that problem since it claps in the crotch but is so expensive I was hesitant. I ended up getting a Bellefit off ebay for around $40. I had both at the beginning of this postpartum phase but didn't really wear them consistently. Fast forward- I started physical therapy and they want me to wear one 23 hrs a day- so I tried both and neither were really working. The Bellefit's seams poked me endlessly and even when I cut the boning out, it still was very uncomfortable. I could handle the squeezing of the girdle but the seams and the way it was cut dug into my skin and left awful red marks and made me so cranky. The Belly Bandit again kept moving and I quickly lost so many inches on my belly that the medium no longer really squeezed. So I started researching and eventually bought about 12 options on Amazon that had free returns and found 2 that I really like: 1. This is my favorite because it really holds the tummy together. The two flaps in front help me get it very snug and the extra parts help pull in extra. I wear this one all day. This one I wear to bed- It is very soft and well made with nice velcro. I again like the 3 strips to pull in front because I can pull different sections more/less tight (waist, hips etc). I prefer how I look with them on, but they are not bodyshapers (nor meant to be) so you can definitely see it through tight clothes. Amazing support!! Bonus: super fast re-shaping! I dismissed a belly wrap after my first baby as shapewear, but I looked into it for my second with concerns about possible diastasis recti and core weakness. Oh my! This wrap is so comfortable to wear: it reminds me to sit up straighter and helps me to do so. I feel so much more stable when I have it on. I could sleep with it (and have napped), but I've only been wearing it during the day. The fabric is soft, so it is just as comfortable under clothing as it is over it. When I was measuring at 35 inches about five days post-partum, I ordered a medium even though that is outside the range: it fit great (would have even if I was bigger) and has room to keep going smaller. (Note: this is only the case for this model, the one WITHOUT the extra elastic; the one with the extra elastic didn't fit.) I do have a long torso, but I love that it can go from my bra-line to the top of my hips: no bulging at either end. The other, more expensive wraps are smaller, and I don't think it would fit as well. Bonus: two weeks post-partum, and I can't believe how close to "before baby" my stomach already is. (Some of that is luck of genetics, but this was definitely faster than with my first where I didn't wear anything.) I haven't had it long enough to speak to durability, but it looks promising.

This binder is more comfortable and easier to put on than the one I got at the hospital (where it took 2 people to put it on). My only issue is that it looks like it was sewn inside out. If they would get their quality control in check, it would be even better. These binds are true to size, so if you are buying this for laparoscopic hysterectomy post-op care, you may want to size up, then go down to your normal size as the swelling goes down. They wash and dry well (on low temp). I did wear mine with a bamboo corset liner, so I didn’t have to wash it every single day. I washed the liners each day, and washed and dried the binder every 3 days, and it held up really well. I only wore it almost all day for the first two weeks, then only when I went out on my daily walks, so I wouldn’t feel like my insides were falling out with each step lol.

This is one of the better ones I've used but it does have some pros and cons... Pro: I love how long it is. It goes all the way down over my C-section scar and far enough up to my bra to prevent a lot of weird spillover. This is a big plus because I've tried several of these and they all leave weird bulgy places because they didn't cover my whole torso. I don't have a long torso. It is relatively comfortable. I sleep in it. Cons: The biggest con is the shape. I didn't see this in the reviews I read, so maybe it's just weird on me, but when I put it on, one side of my waist is the stretchy material and the other side is the cotton. The stretchy material sinks into my waist creating an hourglass shape, but the cotton doesn't do that, so I end up with an S shaped torso. I can't wear it under anything form fitting because of that. The stretchy material is really pretty stretchy and not as supportive as some of the others I have. The boning is too flexible to really help with the support issue. Mine was also sewn backward but I just wear it backwards - that's not a big deal to me. Overall: I don't feel like this is supportive enough to wear during the day because of the way it stretches out when I'm wearing it. I wear the UpSpring - UpSpring Shrinkx Belly Postpartum Belly Wrap (L/XL, Black): Breathable, Postnatal Belly Band - during the day for more support and I wear this one to sleep in. It is fine for that! I also have this one [[ASIN:B016F0FH5Q Trendyline Women Postpartum Girdle Corset Recovery Belly Band Wrap Belt, Medium,Beige Nude Medium]]...I used this one after my last baby and it is very supportive but it is super short from top to bottom. It won't cover the whole abdominal area. I used it for a little while after my most recent was born, but the velcro wore out quickly.

I bought a yellow one for use after hysterectomy, and it has been a life-saver. Decided to buy a white one (wish they carried this in black, too) to have an extra one to wear during the recovery period. It's easy to adjust, holds firmly but not stiffly. Great for curvy and hourglass figures who need the option to adjust. (The one they provided at the hospital was the worst: stiff, sharp elastic edges, and shaped like nothing, just one huge rough velcro strip stitched to a wide piece of elastic. And this was "quality" hospital treatment. ha) Really like the soft flexible velcro, not as high a pile or rough as usual velcro. Luckily mine came stitched correctly (unlike a couple of other commenters), just that the tag is on the outside back, though I must say, it's probably better so that it doesn't irritate the skin. Really recommend this for anyone going through abdominal surgeries who wants a softer but still very supportive waist band. Can use in daytime or while sleeping. Super comfortable.

I had a c-section for my twins and friends had told me that abdominal bands really helped them. I hated the band they gave me at the hospital and almost decided an abdominal band just wouldn't work for me, but after a few days at home decided to give a different one a try. I ordered this one and am so glad I did! I like the 3 velcro straps that I can adjust independently, and the curved shape that helps it fit more comfortably. Much much better than the hospital band. It doesn't make the c-section pain go away but helped support my upper body and back when my core muscles weren't very functional (especially with the rods in the back)! If I go through this again I will start using this band as soon as I'm up and walking! It has been so helpful, I highly recommend it.

I tried twice to get one that was sewn correctly with no luck. Both binders came with the velcro sewn to the wrong side of the straps. While I could have worn out inside out, that would make the drain pockets unusable. They really need to get their quality control in order!

After having two major abdominal surgeries, (Hernia and hysterectomy) this abdominal binder has proven to be just what I need for abdominal support. I love that there are three areas of adjustment rather than one as is with the standard hospital binder. it goes high enough to support my hernia and low enough to cover the hysterectomy scar without irritating it. It supports your back nicely, with the light boning. The fabric is cotton which is breathable, and I can make micro adjustments throughout the day to accommodate any swelling that occurs. Very happy and only wish that I had ordered it way sooner. I used the sizing chart to order the correct size ad it fit as expected.

This was a great binder with the three straps for adjustment and ribs around to keep it from pleating in the back. The problem lies in the Velcro rippling from the tension which makes it difficult to go far without the top strap popping off.
