The magnificent Crowley Thoth Tarot Deck contains the kabbalistic and astrological attributions described in Aleister Crowley's The Book of Thoth. The Crowley Thoth Tarot Decks currently available are published by AGMuller and distributed by U. S. Games Systems, Inc. Review: Bought Two different editions - I'm forced to review both editions of the Thoth deck which I bought here in one place. I bought the large Green boxed edition, and the more normally-sized Lilac boxed edition (not the blue Swiss one or the mini-card version). First some background: when I was 16 I started learning tarot cards from a friend of mine at college, and I got myself a pack of the Barbara Walker tarot deck, which is a great deck for beginners because the minor arcana are quite dramatically illustrated & there are single words expressing the character of each card. You can't really go wrong with it, but it's out of print now. I got another deck, the Magickal Tarot by Tony Willis (now also out of print, sadly). This was based upon the Thoth, but had little bits added, words here & there or an alchemical or astrological symbol, or a Hebrew letter or whatever, which again made it very easy to read. When I was 19-20 or so & out of a job, it being 1989-90ish & the UK's economy being still in the crapper, I was lucky enough to be able to get a job for a while reading tarot cards on an 0898 line, for 30p or 50p per minute. Some of the people I worked with were a LOT better than me. One was a beautiful redhead named Steph, who used to go off with the New Age travellers on jaunts around the place when the mood took her. She was an incredible free spirit, a beautiful woman, and most importantly a really bang-on, got it right every time, tarot reader. Steph used the Thoth deck, and she had a string of regulars who, when we moved company because the boss was a bit of a snot, they came with her. When she went off on holiday they'd call & ask for her, & when they found she wasn't in they said they'd ring back later. She really was that good. So, when I decided last month to get back into tarot reading, I first thought of the Magickal Tarot, and found out it was out of print (d'oh!), my next thought was "Thoth deck!". So I plugged that into desertcart's search & it came up with the green box edition. I bought that & it turned up, and I was duly impressed & nostalgic about its beautiful pictures, but I found I couldn't shuffle the darned thing properly. Not the end of the world - I bought it primarily to be able to meditate upon the card meanings, the symbology & the connections between the major arcana & the paths of the Qabbalah, which I find is a worthwhile practice. That said, I googled "Thoth deck too big" and it came up with a page about the different sized decks - there's a current mini edition which shows up in desertcart's search under "Thoth Deck" but really that's teeny-tiny & much too small for me, but the page showed an earlier edition in a lilac box, and that clicked in my memory - that must be the deck my old colleague used. I ordered that (it's in desertcart if you search for "Crowley tarot") & got it, and now that's my main working tarot. I've done a few readings with it (bit rusty but I daresay I'll get back to speed soon) & it works just right. So, my advice, if you want a big deck to hold up to a class or group of people, buy the green, but if you want a good working deck for divination or general tarot work, go for the Lilac box. Review: Great First Thoth Deck. Check the Size Before Buying - I recently started learning the Thoth Tarot system and chose this as my first deck from US Games, a publisher I trust. The card artwork looks even better in person and the standard size feels just right in hand. Just be careful when ordering, as there is also a pocket-sized version. Check the light blue label or product description to make sure you’re getting the full-size deck. If you’re completely new to tarot, I’d personally suggest starting with the Rider-Waite-Smith system before moving on to Thoth or Marseille, as they can be easier to learn initially. The cardstock feels slightly lighter than expected (around 310gsm), and while the quality could be a bit better, it’s perfectly suitable for study or group use.

beautiful
This deck is perhaps the more complete tarot deck. With simbology from cabala, alchemy, astrology, science, hindu, chakras, and so on. The cards have an unique colour, so is easy to identify them without need to see all the card. The paintings from Frieda Harris are very beautiful. The quality of the cards are excelent. Perhaps the only "problem" is that they are big, so, if you wish a small deck, more easy to handle, I think there's a smaller tarot deck. Anyway, I use this one and I'm used to it.

Great buy. Having being initially sceptical of the Thoth ...
Great buy. Having being initially sceptical of the Thoth deck and the associations with Crowley I was doing some research into a new deck of cards and fell in love with the imagery. My sister has also been using them for approx 10 years now. From a practical point of view this pack is the perfect size and shuffles easily. It comes with a very small and basic book/guide and a large poster sized guide to a spread (appears to be Celtic cross spread). From a tarot reader's point of view this deck is AMAZING!!! The power and accuracy of it is brilliant! I have spent many years using the Mythic Tarot but this is just so clear and direct, I love the fact that the court cards have clear attributes in addition to the standard. I am still waiting for a book to take me through all the detailed imagery of the cards and get in depth, deck specific guidance but I did my first reading immediately and have already seen results even without the in depth knowledge. It has been said that these cards are intimidating, I have not found that. One thing I did do as suggested was "introduce myself" to cards, light a candle and have a cup of tea to connect with them which seemed to work. Recommend to anyone, beginners or experts.

DEEPEST DECK EVER (Good Printed Version - NO GREENS/FADED)
Thoth comes in 3 sizes -- This is the biggest deck of the Thoth cards you can buy. The next size down is approx the size of regular playing cards. The smallest size is the pocket deck, which is the size of a credit card. Now this has arrived, it's lovely to finally possess all 3 sizes now. This deck contains nice boldly printed cards...No awful 'green' faded out prints in this pack! Good quality. This is a deep deck and tells things exactly how it is. A good deck to study, not necessarily for a beginner - but definately something to advance towards. After reading for a long time, and owning tons of decks throughout the years, this is the deck I always go back to. There is no messing with the answers you get from this deck!!!!!!!! Class! ;-)

My favorite deck of all time - this edition has one not three "Magus" cards
I grew up with this deck and I think the imagery and depths of the deck is my favorite out of all decks i have come across. This particular version only has one of the three magus cards which reduced it to four stars as I consider it incomplete as a result. Crowley's own book is rather incomprehensible to most people why I suggest to have at least one more tarot book to accompany your interpretations. For instance I like Gerd Ziegler's "Tarot, Mirror of the Soul" - you may prefer something else.

Stunning artwork
I do not know enough to say anything about the individuals known as Aleister Crowley and Frieda Harris. However, I can not help wonder what it says about a person to have been involved in the production of art as beautiful, moving, and evocative as this. Regarding the physical cards, the print is good, the size is satisfying, and the material is good.

Original quality
I am very satisfied with this set of cards, first of all the excellent quality and what really surprised me was that the cards are from 2023 with a new design of shades and back. Above all, a new booklet from AMG Urania. Excellent purchase

Bellissimi

Does justice to Lady Frieda Harris' Art!
I just looooove this deck. The quality of the cards is quite good. They are sturdy, as long as you handle them with some care. The size is indeed quite big. Especially the breadth becomes a bit cumbersome to fit within the palms while shuffling, as the whole deck is decently heavy. But I'm not complaining, I knew what I signed up for. Not to mention those are the proportions in which Harris had designed the layout. The large size definitely helps in studying all the minute details and symbolism in every artwork, as even the tiniest and faintest of details hold meaning and play a significant role in understanding the overall esoteric implications of every card. Not to mention the large size of the artwork also generates quite a visual and visceral impact when a card is turned over. My only feedback for improvement would be, to improve the quality of the outer package. The quality is quite flimsy. Maybe it is the same thickness as the cards themselves, but since as I mentioned, the deck is quite heavy, the regular packaging is not able to hold the cards inside snugly. The top flap keeps flipping open by the weight of the deck and the cards keep slipping out. So I have to always hold it precisely in a horizontal position, and not tilt it. It's been difficult to find a box to keep the cards of this size and proportion inside, so a sturdier packaging would have helped. This is just an extra design related observation. I understand that the artworks are a direct reproduction of Harris' paintings. But decades later, we do live in times of smartphones, and our eyes have become accustomed to richer colors everywhere. Mayyybe, the saturation of the artworks could be very slightly tweaked, so that we get richer and vibrant colors, to generate more of a visual impact during readings. Because some of the artworks look kind of washed out and faded. Also, I know these are legacy cards and they will sell without any marketing or branding efforts. But just out of reverence and celebration of the legacy itself, the graphics on the packaging could be designed a lot more beautifully, instead of just superimposing two artworks on the back and on the front (why Two of Disks and The Chariot though, is there any specific reason for it?)
