Joyce Chen 2-Tier Bamboo Steamer Baskets, 6-Inch

The 6" Bamboo Steamer Set is well constructed. I utilize it to reheat meal, breads for freshness, and it cooks vegetables quickly. I no longer trust the microwave, they seem to alter molecules in meats, starches, vegetables. At 78, I need simple healthy safer food preparation methods. Highly recommended.

Has 2 trays for steaming and it holds about 4-5 soup dumplings per tray. Steams just fine and fits in my wok. Does put off a slightly odd smell when steaming (not bad or anything, mostly wood smelling). Mine also had a strip of wood splinter off after my second use. And the trays and lid fit awkwardly in a way that they have to be layered specifically. Overall not bad if you need something quick but if recommend going somewhere for something more authentic.

It's good steamer, there was one where the bamboo was not fitted correctly, so it kind of bowed out a little in the steamer, therefore I decided to give it 4 stars. Overall, it's a good product.

“Mold after only 4 uses — unacceptable for food use” We purchased the Joyce Chen 2-Tier Bamboo Steamer Baskets, 6-inch, from Amazon and are extremely disappointed with the quality. After only about four uses, the bamboo developed dark mold spots all over the steamer basket. We were very careful with cleaning and drying them properly. After each use, we cleaned the steamer the way bamboo steamers are generally supposed to be cleaned: no dishwasher, no soaking, no harsh chemicals — just gentle cleaning, wiping, rinsing as needed, and allowing it to air dry completely before putting it away. Even with proper care, this product developed what appears to be widespread mold very quickly. That is disgusting and completely unacceptable for a product used to steam food. Bamboo steamers need to be able to withstand normal use, cleaning, and drying without turning moldy after only a few times. In my opinion, this feels cheap and poorly made. It is a waste of money, and I would not feel safe using it for food after seeing this. I would strongly recommend staying away from this product.

Solid design, holding up well to steaming. No bad odor other than that nice bamboo smell. They are small so not great for mass steaming, but nice for serving, check the dimensions before hand.

These are authentic bamboo steamers, I've seen some that are made of wood. These are great to steam frozen dim sum. You can stack the containers with the lid which keeps the steam inside, in a pot with boiling water. Would highly recommend these.

much smaller than expected but works for what it was needed for

I have a 3-qt instant pot and this steamer basket fits inside with some adjustments: flipping the trivet upside down to lower the basket, and removing the lid (covering the top basket with a foil circle; or perfect fit with a single layer. Used to steam dim sum dumplings - worked very well! Instead of fancy inserts to keep it clean, I just cut squares of parchment paper and poked holes to let steam through.
