IT WORKS!!!
Well, first of all, I've waited a number of months to be sure this thing really works, and IT DOES!!! Every sleeper's situation is unique so I will tell you a little about mine (yawn!). I rent a furnished apartment and the bed was fine when I arrived, nothing special; definitely hand-me-down (a little icky, I know). But after sleeping comfortably on it for a couple of years I noticed a definite valley in the middle. I have sciatic nerve problems with my lower back, so I thought a new mattress might make a difference. However, my landlord declined to buy me a new one, so I started looking into futons, thinking something more firm would be the ticket. I found some interesting looking ones on Amazon, but they were all more than I wanted to spend (on principle - I'm paying for a furnished apartment, after all!). Then I noticed this product and for only $59.00 (at the time) I thought why not! So several months later, using the Mattress Helper and a rigid piece of plywood on top of the box springs has restored my bed completely, so that there is no indentation in the middle and I sleep well on it again. Highly recommended!!!! Oh, I forgot to mention that at first the mattress helper actually raised the middle of my bed a little higher than the sides, so it helped to sleep right on top of the middle. Now, after a couple of months, the bed is level so I can stretch out anywhere. Consider this when you buy. If two people use the bed (or 3?!), you probably should get two and each person should sleep on his or her mattress helper to break it in. And maybe place them close together under the mattress so there is no valley between them. Make sense?

Story Of My Foam Mattress, New Mattress Helper Mini's, and GREAT Customer Service
I have a 3 yo expensive all latex foam king mattress that started to sag, and I hated to spend thousands for a new bed...plus it seemed such a shame to throw this huge thing into a landfill. Since I was by myself, I thought I would try one mattress helper JUST on the sagging side- which was a mistake. It simply made a raised lump in the bed which was just as bad and uncomfortable as the sag. So I bought another MH to even things out, which worked...sort of. Because the MH was not as long as my bed I had dips at my head and feet- maybe this doesn't happen with an innerspring mattress, but my foam mattress needed to be raised the entire length in order to be completely flat and for me to be comfortable. I contacted the company and spoke with the owner / inventor of MH, and she told me they were coming out with a new MH mini and offered to send me several to try. The mini's look just like the regular MH but have fewer slats. I was sent mini's with 2 extra slats but for a king bed I really needed the 3 slat minis for a perfect fit. But the mini's I received did even out the head and foot of the mattress enough where I could be comfortable . I assume my issues with the MH not being long enough had a lot to do with the fact I had a HEAVY foam mattress and any part of it which wasn't supported by the MH would slope downward, just due to the sheer weight and flexibility of foam. The mini's fixed that issue by putting the MH under almost the entire length of my bed. I also had to put heavy cardboard under the MH because I have a foundation- not a box spring- which is essentially just a box with slats that the mattress rests on. Without the cardboard, parts of the MH would slip between the foundation slats, but once I put some support there that was not an issue. Wasn't a big deal, but you need to make sure the MH has a solid surface to sit on otherwise you won't get it to support the mattress like it should. I have now had the system in place for several months and the MH and minis haven't shifted or flattened out at all. There are so many different types of mattresses and mattress problems it is impossible to say if this solution will work for everyone, but I believe it is worth a try for most people. The owner of this company gives wonderful customer service and stands behind her product, giving you 30 days to see if it works for you. She really went out of her way to work with me to fix the issues I was having, and even followed up several times to make sure the MH and mini's were working. I feel strongly about supporting companies who care about their customers and give outstanding customer service ( often so hard to find !).... I am happy I found Mattress Helper! PS You may also want to try the mini's under a sagging sofa ....worked great for me.....I don't think the Mini's are on Amazon at this time but you can purchase direct from the company....and no, I don't work for them ( lol)....I'm just a customer like you! Update 5/29/16 ....About 6 months ago I had to bite the bullet and buy a new mattress. The helper is poly foam and eventually breaks down just like the poly foam in mattresses. So the mattress helper bought me some time, about a year. I had my parents buy the helper also and the same breakdown happened to them...helps at first but not long lasting. I also see a pretty big price increase for the product since I purchased it. Due to it's short lifespan and increased cost I'm downgrading to 4 stars. Still may be worth a shot for a short term fix, and I still think this small company owner givers great service...but don't expect a long term solution to a sagging mattress. PS.... If you are looking for a new mattress check out the many online mattress companies...Most are so much cheaper, higher quality, and stand behind their products MUCH better than retail stores.

Good enough until I can replace my mattress in a few months
It does get rid of the sag for the most part in the bed. It doesn't make your bed more comfortable though. I had to revise my expectations. I have a four year old mattress that had extra support in the middle/hip area that was supposed to make my mattress last longer, or so they tell you when you look at current beds that offer that "extra support." However, it was sagging there and in the shoulder area of the middle section of my mattress. It would feel as if you were rolling into the middle of the bed. So, I thought I'd buy the king/twin xl version of this pad and place it in the middle of my mattress(lengthwise of course) to take care of the sagging middle. it does do that and for the most part very well. However, it does not make my mattress feel new again. I think for $75 I will get a few more months out of my bed. That extra time will allow me to look for another bed without the hassle of being in a hurry to replace mine. I bought a bed before I received this pad out of desperation and cancelled the order the next day. I am happy for the extra time this pad gives me to look for the best mattress for me. 5 stars would have been like a new mattress, 4 stars would have been feels much better and should be an option that lasts a few more years, 3 stars for me was because it is a good enough product to get me through a few more months until I find a bed. Unfortunately I don't feel like this product is able to provide much more relief than that. Not saying it won't last longer, just doesn't provide such great support that I want to even try.

Does it work? It depends...
I was skeptical about how well this would work but I had a gift certificate so I decided to give it a try. My mattress is ready to be retired and at this point it is practically a hammock. Hoping to hold off on purchasing a new set, I ordered two 31" mattress helpers (I have a King size bed) and anxiously awaited their arrival. At first I was less than impressed. It seemed to make a negligible impact on my saggy mattress. So I took the mattress off the box springs and studied the problem. It seemed that my mattress helpers were getting sucked down into the flabby box springs thereby rendering them ineffectual. Clearly my box springs needed help so I decided to add some supports between the box spring and mattress to take advantage of the firmest parts of the box spring structure. Whatever I used needed to be strong and very thin so it didn't add bulk. This was quite a puzzle but I am not a STEM degree dropout for nothing! :) In the end I found leftover laminate flooring planks in the attic that, when laid head to toe (2 boards for each pass and overlapping in the middle for extra support), were just perfect. I was careful to leave gaps between the rows because mattresses like airflow. In all I used 12 planks in 6 rows. When I put the mattress helper on this new base it did not sink in and began to push the mattress up as intended. I now have a reasonably firm mattress that acts like new again and I am very happy. I am unsure how this will hold up over time, hence the 4 star rating. My mattress may eventually sag again in spite of the mattress helper but I suppose gravity works on all things and it remains an 8 year old mattress no matter what you shove under it. At this time it has been a month since I made my modifications and my mattress has settled slightly but is still much improved from when I started. My final word; This is a good product if you keep your expectations realistic and give it a good base to work from.
