Review: True Blue..Madonna I love you!!!! - This is one of those mushy albums tht i guess any romantic would love to own. To begin with, I love all Madonna albums and True Blue stands 4th in my album fav list. I feel 5 stars is just not enough for this timeless classic, this album goes way beyond words.More than the album the album cover caught my eye.Madge looks so beautiful..fresh as a flower..The cover shows a simple blue background which is the main theme of this album..yet wht makes the cover classy is the seductive upturned heaven pose by Madonna. Now some reviews abt the tracks 1. PAPA DON'T PREACH- The opening track..sometimes i think this shud have been replaced by True Blue.Too controversial for its time as the track is based on teen pregnancy which tells us a tale of a young girl's will of keeping the baby despite all odds.A track with a powerful message. "Papa don't preach, I'm in trouble deep Papa don't preach, I've been losing sleep But I made up my mind, I'm keeping my baby, oh I'm gonna keep my baby" Overall i rate this 4. 2. OPEN YOUR HEART- This song's catchy and those of u who have watched the video will prefer it more than the track..not one of my favs Overall the rating is 3. 3. WHITE HEAT- One of my fav tracks..dedicated to Jimmy cagney this song contains dialogue extract from the 1954 movie 'White Heat'.Playful, seductive yet catchy tune..this song tends to hit ur system and sounds fresh even today. "I don't want to live out your fantasy Love's not that easy This time you're gonna, gonna have to play my way Come on make my day" A must hear.Overall i rate this song 5. 4. LIVE TO TELL- After all the heat and hype comes a mellow track to calm down ur senses.Sometimes in the dead of the night i find myself humming this track..just like a prayer i feel connected to this song..a confession u knw!! One of the best Madonna ballads.. "A man can tell a thousand lies I've learned my lesson well Hope I live to tell The secret I have learned, 'till then It will burn inside of me" Overall rating-4.5 5. Another pop classic from Madonna.
"True Blue" makes it three-for-three for Madonna, now residing at the forefront of the public awareness as if she'd been there forever. Honestly...isn't it now difficult to remember a time BEFORE Madonna? You sort of automatically jump back to either disco or Led Zeppelin. Anyways, she continues to grow as an artist and singer, while trying some new pop flavors on for size. "Papa Don't Preach" is one of her typical, awesome pop songs, but in what has become sort of cliche for her, intentionally provocative. Seeing the furor caused by "Virgin", she found it necessary to tweak our sensibilities with each subsequent record...at least once. (Think "Like A Prayer", the "Justify My Love" video, the whole "Erotica/Sex" thing...) But the song has a killer melody, great drums and keyboards, and she sings so enthusiastically...you're hooked. "Open Your Heart" is even better. This is a great song, backwards and forwards. The synth lines and chord washes back up her soaring vocals. "White Heat" is a sort-of failed attempt at melding the whole Jimmy Cagney thing to a pop song. Ah...but with "Live To Tell", first heard in the great flick, "At Close Range", Madonna nails her first epic ballad. Man does this still sound good. Mysterious, moody... "Where's The Party" is yet another dance club anthem guaranteed to get people on the floor at any party. Most great pop songs are fairly simple and direct, as is this. Lots of fun. "True Blue" goes a bit further than "Shoo-Be-Doo" in showing off her fondness for the girl groups of yesteryear. You can't deny it sounds sweet on the radio though. Again, simple and fun, with a catchy melody and bouncy tempo...what more should you ask for? "La Isla Bonita" adds an exquisite Latin flavor to a "Madonna" song, and it fits like a glove...for many, the highlight of the album. "Jimmy Jimmy" is the one forgettable, skippable tune on the set. I can instantly hum every melody of every song on this album, but I can never recall this one. My personal fave is "Love Makes The World Go Round". It's not deep. It's not particularly original in lyric, but it has this little Caribbean flavor to it's uptempo sequences, and the chorus just destroys me every time...and Madonna sings her butt off during the bridges... The nice remaster includes two additional but unnecessary remixes. If you have either of the first two albums, you'll need this one.

My Number One Fave Of Madge's Classic 80's Albums!!
It was 1986 and I was 22 yrs old, partying hearty at the clubs as well as performing in a very popular funk/rock band that was a very hot draw throughout the deep south (Florida, Georgia, Tennessee). I was already well familiar with the pop jaugernaut which was/is MADONNA because of her preceeding smashes with her debut self-titled album and the now iconic "Like A Virgin", which shot her from stardom to superstardom!--And had girls all over america trying to imitate her trashy chic look with underwear on the outside, mucho bangles, big shagged & teased hair, and more crucifixes than are in the vatican! (-: I always wow people with the story of the first time I ever saw Madge perform, in the early days (1982) before she was a megastar, at a gay club called "The College Station" in Jacksonville, FL for a mere & unbelievably small fee!! (-: It was just her and two dancers (one being her now estranged brother Christopher Ciccone!) with 4 club tracks ("Holiday", "Everybody", "Borderline" and "Lucky Star") with just the background vocals on them and she danced and sang the lead vocals live! She already had the air of a star even back then!--The way she carried herself and performed passionately for that relatively small crowd of a few hundred very rowdy and screaming fans, even though nobody really knew who she was at that time! Fast forward four very eventful years later and Madge was worldwide sensation! Enter this fantastic album "True Blue" in the summer of 1986, which was packed full of what would turn out to be pop classics: "Papa Don't Preach", "Open Your Heart", "Live To Tell", "Where's The Party" and "La Isla Bonita", all of which are still well loved by her fans and performed in all of her live incarnations since then. Dedicated to the self-confessed love of her life, former hubby, Sean Penn... "True Blue", with it's unforgettable cover photo by the late Herb Ritts and memorable pop hits, paint a perfect picture of what was hot and cutting edge in 1986. I can't tell you how many times me and my freinds danced our butts off to "Where's The Party" and "Open Your Heart" mixed and extended to perfection by whomever was the hot DJ of the time at whatever club we were feeling! "La Isla Bonita" is just eternal with me!--That song will never play out! "Live To Tell" was the theme song from a very good movie starring Sean Penn and Christopher Walken called "At Close Range", which did really well back then. All of these factors combine to make "True Blue" my number one favorite album in the classic 80's catalogue of Madonna output which she made her name on!

Vintage Madonna at her Peak
Madonna was one of the most powerful and influential entertainers of the Eighties; she was practically a musical succubus who knew how to suck her fans in and hold them hostage with her body of work. However, it is very obvious that her career peaked and ended with the following CDs: "Madonna," "Like a Virgin," "True Blue," "The Immaculate Collection," "Like A Prayer" and "Bedtime Stories;" these CDs are best sum total of her career at her peak before she was, for lack of better words, domesticated and tamed by motherhood. "True Blue" was the last of this six-piece "ideal set" I needed for my collection. It includes the controversial "Papa Don't Preach," Madonna's ode to teenage pregancy, "Open Your Heart," which along with its seductive video is best described as Madonna verbally raping and seducing her fans from afar, and "Live To Tell," which is possibly best described as Madonna without the sex - strong, fierce and determined. The main song on the set, "True Blue," is bouncy and enjoyable, but not all that memorable in the long run compared to her others. The rest of the dance tunes are basically filler, nice to listen to but nothing to inspire any sort of visual imagery. Overall, it's a CD best held up by a few songs than by its total discography.

True Blue - The album that made Madonna into a Pop Icon
I was 8 years old when True Blue was released, I liked Madonna on her 1983 release Madonna, loved Madonna on 1984 release Like a Virgin, became a fanatic when True Blue hit, and have stayed a fanatic ever since. The album is Madonnas' biggest selling studio album to date with over 30 million sold to date, now thats a lot of records. It was an era when Madonna was on everyones lips, young, fresh, sexy. True Blue took her into Iconic Status. The album is fun, fun, fun with a touch of sentiment, fun all the way with a string of #1's, Papa Don't Preach (classic), Open your heart (sexy check out the video, its amazing that Madonna has maintained that body till today), Live to tell (my absolute favourite Madonna ballad till this day that ballad stands the test of time) True Blue (sweet, lovely sing-a-long pop song) and of course the incredible Spanish inspired La isla Bonita (another classic that just hits your soul, loooove that song) all # 1 world hits. She scored #1's in UK and US simultaneously incredible. Madonna co-wrote and produced every single song on the album with Patrick Leonard and Stephen Bray (a wonderful team, that also worked together on her masterpiece "Like A Prayer". The album is pure Pop/Dance a great listen, never a boring moment I bought this remastered copy last year, amazing, the sound will blow you away. Madonna amazes till this very day, I am like her little brother growing up with her music for 25 years of my 30 years of existence (and I am not even gay). But True Blue is what made me put her in my heart for good. This is a classic for any Pop lover, if you are a Madonna fan and do not have this album, you are not really a fan (he he)A must have in your collection.

Un clásico con mucha calidad
Muy buen sonido. Se nota el remaster. Tengo el original del 86 y si bien está en muy buen estado se nota que los surcos de éste y el remaster son más nuevos. Mucho más cuerpo en todas las canciones.

True Blue Revisited...
This album was on my playlist during the 80s. Driving through Spain at the height of the music evolution. The album cover depicting Madonna was provocative and alluring. When I saw the opportunity to buy this again in it's full glory, Includes the poster. Lovely touch. All 'n all this is a great release in Silver Vinyl. Enjoy and get into the groove...
