I used rubbing alcohol, a little baby oil to slow down evaporation, and EOs. It works ok in the car but in order to use it in any larger of a space you would need a high concentration of EOs/fragrance.

I did put a tiny hole in the lid to be able to get more of the oil to the surface of the topper but it was easy and the results were exactly what I wanted. My car smells like a cedar forest now. It’s lovely.

I wanted to use it as a holiday gift and I now have to return it because it came in broken. It does not give me a reasonable option to replace for free and I am unsure if I can make it before the holiday. So upset about this

Unless you touch it, it doesn't release any aroma. Would not purchase.
