GoPro HERO4 Black Edition Camera (Renewed)

I bought this "renewed" GoPro Hero4 a little over 3 months ago specifically for some competition shooting matches and also for home video shenanigans. I was a bit hesitant because the price was so low but I was pressed for time so I took a little leap of faith and it turned out for the better. The camera came with everything I needed in and the battery life was decent for being preowned. I invested in second battery anyway and I'm glad I did. Picture quality is amazing. My only gripe is the sound isn't so great while the cam is in the airtight/waterproof case, but that's not a deal-breaker. This was a good buy.

I'm building a quadcopter, the gimbal and quad are specifically made and wired for a GoPro Hero 3 or 4. I got a refurbished GoPro Hero 4 black so I could shoot 4k while flying the quad. It's like a new camera, had the protective case, battery, charger, mount and mount tape just like it was new. It even had the plastic film over the display to protect against scratches. It works perfectly, even remotely with the app. I also have a factory GoPro mount in my Tacoma which I never used so now I can use the GoPro Hero 4 when 4 wheeling. I couldn't be more pleased about my purchase.

I got the camera in a un market box and that was fine. The cool thing is they added not only the original gopro battery but they gave me 2 extra ones. The camera is in great condition and it working as intended. Now the charging station for the 2 extra batteries was very dirty and sticky. I threw it out almost immediately. And one ofnthe extra batteries had some of the paper casing wrinkled on one side so im going to test that one and make sure its ok.

This product is not certified refurbish as it is shown or offered. it is a very used and damage product. operating system does not respond, buttons does not work either. No photos or videos can be taken with it. The camera freezes as soon i start it. Batery pack is not a gopro compatible. The camera has a lot of phisical damages al around. I tired to contact Gopro and they were unable to provide support to this "certified" refurbish as it was not certified. They took a used/damege camera and put it into a generic box with a fake certification.

I generally buy used if I can to save money. Found this for $109 on Amazon. About the same price or cheaper than Craigslist or Marketplace ads locally. It has worked as advertised. Packaged nicely. My only grip is the battery life seems far worse than the Hero 4 Session I had. I take these out to document my surf sessions and make video diaries. The Session 4 that I lost which prompted me to buy this unit never came close to dying over a 3 hour session. I mean, I could come home and just about process all the video without charging the Hero Session. This Hero 4 Black died after 1.5 hours in the water. And that is only taking maybe 12-15 approx 1 min video clips of rides and paddle back outs. I had to buy extra batteries. Will probably switch back to a Session 4/5 next time I run across a good deal.

~Skip to bottom for conclusion~ First time purchasing a refurbished item, and first time purchasing a GoPro after being disappointed with a low-quality action cam. -First, the camera itself was in great condition, it looks and feels brand new. No scratches on the camera whatsoever, no scratches on the lens, nothing seems slow or clunky in the LCD menu, shoots great video with great audio, BUT.. -They did not send me an original GoPro waterproof housing case, which I understand, BUT, the case they sent me was such a cheap knockoff that I had to pay 20$ to buy another one, which means I could have just bought a brand new one on amazon for 170.. The plastic is so cheap and the glass over the lens smudges from seemingly just the air. -Worst of all, the case does not fully close on the corners, meaning it is NOT even waterproof. What's the point of the case? -Next, 2 batteries were sent. Pretty sure one of them is originally from GoPro, but the other is a knockoff and is a bit beat up, need to push hard to get it to go in. Battery life isn't that good at all. -I didn't need accessories as I bought a pack for my previous action cam, but don't expect any from the refurbished buy. Came with 2 flat adhesive mounts. All in all: 5 stars for the great quality of the camera -2 stars because I had to spend 20$ to buy a new waterproof case, meaning I could have bought a brand new Hero4 Black from amazon instead, avoiding any problems that I had. Already ordered a new case and drilled a hole in this crappy one over the speaker to make it useful as an audio-case, but I shouldn't have had to get a new case when one was supposed to be included and be WORKING.

I bought this refurb gopro even though the reviews were iffy. I wasn't sure what to expect. It arrived on time. I opened the box put the battery in the gopro and tried to power on. It would not power on. So i charged the battery for four hours. Turned it on and died right away. I e-mailed the seller and they promptly sent me a used battery. Put the battery in and the gopro worked.... Customer service i give a 100% satisfactory rating. No issues with the gopro at this point...if you're looking to buy a gopro on a budget, buy this one. If i could give 10 stars i would....dont belive all the bad reviews. Now i am sure with these being refurbished im sure one will make it past quality check and may have problems.. That goes with anything refurbished or even brand new. Give these guys a chance im sure you wont be dissatisfied....

This camera stops working frequently citing an "SD Card error" although it continues to beep the way it is supposed to while taking photos and videos making you think the images are still being taken correctly. I have to take it from its mount after every shot to examine if the camera has that error. If so, I have to remove it from its waterproof shell, remove the battery, replace and back into its shell. When somebody else is shooting with the camera it gets worse since they just want to get involved in the action and not think about the camera. I have lost many good shots because of this flaw.

Actual image was too fishbowl like for the application I was intending it for. Truly is an action cam but distance objects looked miles away although close up activities was portrayed beautifully and color and quality of image was great. Would definitely entertain buying refurbished again.

Everything looked great, no scratches or wear. The GoPro started up initially after I charged it but once I powered it down, it would not start up again. I will provide update.

Love it. Too bad these things are so pricey. The refurb is just fine. Works well. Invest in a good SD card
