France released, PAL/Region 2 DVD: LANGUAGES: French ( Dolby Digital 2.0 ), French ( Dolby Digital 5.1 ), English ( Subtitles ), WIDESCREEN (1.78:1), SPECIAL FEATURES: Interactive Menu, Scene Access, Trailer(s), SYNOPSIS: Focuses on the people who live in north France, making fun of the region's unflattering stereotypes to reveal the warmth of the people. A post office manager in Provence is punished when his superiors reassign him north. When he hears that 'north' does not mean Lyons or even Paris, he despairs. Colleagues tell him of a freezing dark place where it rains all year, people live in red-brick terrace houses and dunk Maroilles cheese in their coffee. When he arrives in Bergues, his car collides with Antoine Bailleul, a postman and carillon ringer in the town belfry. He believes that Antoine has a fractured jaw, but it is just his accent. The outsider, of course, finds that the Ch'timi have hearts of gold and are friendly to strangers, unlike Parisians or southerners. SCREENED/AWARDED AT: European Film Awards, ...Welcome to the Sticks ( Bienvenue chez les Ch'tis ) ( Welcome to the Land of Shtis ) Review: Excellent French Humour - I'm a regular visitor to France and a couple of years ago this film and made a big impact there. What I saw was the bi-product marketting of "Ch'ti" everywhere: beer, t shirts, even a dictionary. (Ch'ti is a dialect of the north west of France and Belgium - Belgium recognises it as a language.) Having seen Dany Boon in the marvellous Micmacs I looked around for the DVD. Its a simple plot - basically someone from the south is sent to work in the north and initially finds the culture and particularly the language totally foreign. (A Londoner in Newcastle.) I wont give any more away except this a very funny film, well acted and a family comedy. But it is very much in the French style, which I love, but perhaps isnt for every foreigner. Hopefully the equally brilliant The Artist will broaden our view. One warning: no matter how good your French: use the subtitles else "Ch'ti" will be lost on you. Oh and yes "Ch'ti" is pronounced as it looks! Review: Funny, charming and heart warming - A lovely heart warming film with genuinely funny moments and some hilarious characters. BlueRay not exactly necessary (this isn’t a high end blockbuster that benefits from super clear visuals!) but some nice extra feature anyway.

lovely film
This is a funny, feel good movie, which I love and so does everyone I have shown it to. It is well written and acted and altogether a joy. My only problem is that my French is not good enough to appreciate the extras disk which is not subtitled.

V pleasant
It's a v pleasant film. But some of the reviews are way over the top.Several times we laughed out loud, but not the shaking belly experience some would have you believe.I can Imagine that in France it would carry more weight because of their cultural views bout the north. It's a gentle and jolly romp with predictable outcome.6/10 for me

Pure French comedy
Being French you'd think that I'm obviously biased but my husband who is English has rated Bienvenus chez les Ch'tis as one of his favourite films ever! he's lent it to all our friends and some of his colleagues. This is an absolutely hilarious fim on the background of north-south divide in France. English people can relate to it as the story could easily been happening in England (between a Londoner and a Liverpudlian for example). If you want an intelligent film that will make you laugh then this is definitely the film for you!

Disc does not play
This disc would not play - it was tried in 3 different Blu-Ray players. I purchased this disc to replace another that I purchased in 2015 and it played without problem the first time but then we I tried to play it again several years later it would not play. The seller (Momox) treated me unfairly (in my opinion) because they insisted that I return the item to the UK (I live in Portugal) but that meant that they did not refund shipping costs. I asked if I could return to the Netherlands (which was the postmark on the label) or Germany but they refused.

that's how to make a funny film
Great film, very funny, made more money than Titanic so not just me that loved it. It was the tempo the film was played at that made it work, the rapid exchanges between the characters especially at the start that made it clear you were in for a treat. In the UK we have a tendancy to make feel-good films, but always played for poignancy and the result, we're all bored after 5 minutes and looking around for a better way to spend the evening . . . or snoring.
