So is brushless better than the regular DW drill??

Yes. First off, it is more efficient than brush-ed. When you run it with a light load, it draws less power. Dewalt says you get up to 30% more runtime from the same charge. The better efficiency is a fact, and the 30% is possibly conservative. There is a youtube video of a guy drilling 1/2" holes into a board with a brushless and a traditional dewalt drill, and the brushless wins 2 to 1. it drills some 190 holes vs the brushed just 92. The second advantage: there are no brushes to wear out and replace. TBT I have many brush-ed tools and as a DIY-er I never had to replace the brushes on any of them, but this may be an advantage to a pro or heavy user. A third advantage, the tool can be built more compact, or more powerful (given the same size)The only advantage of the "brush equipped" design:that it is simpler. The brushless changes the direction of the Dc current using electronics instead of a mechanical commutator, so that is an extra source of possible failure

Why do two Lithium ion batteries go for $170. and the kit with two batteries a charger the carry case and the drill go for $97.00

Unfortunately, nowhere on the box am I able to find amp hours and when asking Lowes employees they said it was 20 volts. I had to explain that I am needing to know amp hours. It took me awhile to find online that the batteries in this kit are 1.3 Ah. Even in this Amazon ad the only place I have found it mentioned is in the questions. The batteries that were 2 for $99 at Lowes were 3Ah.

How long does battery last

Batteries that come with unit are small but very light, excellent for my usage. DeWalt sells these 20v packs in 3 different capacities these are the smallest ones. How long they last is a HUGE variable based on what the task is so that will be impossible to determine for someone else. In my experience these small ones last about the same as the 18v Ni-Cad Dewalt system (18 yrs old) I replaced with this set.

Does this have a battery life meter on it?

It does not have a battery life meter. It does come with two batteries so it's not to big of an issue.

Well worth the money

Best drill I've ever worked with. It has this clicking mechanism when you lock in a different bit. Very cool. Very powerful. You notice the weight when you pick it up. It's more money than most drills but well worth it. This will probably outlive me. I easily recommend this drill.

Pequeño monstruo trabajador.

Me fascinó este Kit del taladro. Aunque la batería parece muy pequeña, es más que suficiente. Realmente no consume mucha energía y mantiene su peso ligero que lo hacen muy cómodo para trabajar. La bolsa, con el tamaño adecuado para el taladro y algunos accesorios, lo protegen bastante de golpes y polvo. Llevó más de un año utilizando esta maravilla que, por cierto, fue mi primera herramienta de esta marca. Ahora tengo también un roto martillo con mucha más potencia pero también es mucho más pesado. Algo que noté de este modelo es respecto al embrague, la verdad no conviene usarlo si les quieres meter mucho fuerza a tur tornillos, tuercas o pijas. Es mejor utilizar la función de perforación sin activar el embrague. Alguna vez, usando el nivel 15 del embrague, se quedó trabado y no podía regresarlo al modo de perforación. Después de activarlo con un torque más bajo en el embrague se desatascó. Desde que uso la perforación para apretar o hundir las pijas, no me ha vuelto a suceder nada parecido. Realmente estoy muy satisfecho con este taladro y, gracia a esta compra, me he convertido en un fanático de la marca. ¡Me encanta DeWalt!

Great home drill

Amazing - great power and haven’t had to charge the battery once since buying a year ago (but we take off the battery after every use). Would suggest buying with a bit and screwdriver set (separate) and you’re good for most things around the house!
