have you tried ordering one? Be forewarned, nobody's gotten more than 1080 MBs, and they come with obsolete/inop firmware and apps.

I'm soooo not tech savvy. Can I partition to back up files and to store Macbook Air files?

Hello, Thank you for your question, I am sharing some step to install SSD on Macbook air system. How to partition an external SSD on a Mac Step 1: Connect the Crucial X10 pro SSD to your computer Connect your X10 pro or X9 pro to your Mac with the enclosed USB-C cable. If your Mac only has a USB-A port, you'll need to use a USB-A adapter (included with the Crucial X10 pro, sold separately or bundled with the X6). Step 2: Open Disk Utility Using Finder, go to applications, then utilities, then open Disk Utility. Step 3: Create the first partition Select Drive, then select the “create partition” option. Step 4: Name the new partition Create a name for the new storage location (such as “X9 pro Backup” or “X10 pro Backup”). Step 5: Select a filesystem type Select a filesystem type from the options (APFS works well for backing up files). Step 6: Select a size for the new storage location Choose the amount of storage space you want to allocate to the new partition. For example, if you want to split a 1TB X10 pro Crucial SSD into two equal partitions, choose 500GB. Step 7: Create the second partition Click the plus sign (+) to create the second partition. Step 8: Set up your second partition Repeat previous steps to name (such as Crucial X10 pro transfers), size, and create a filesystem type for the second partition. (exFAT works well as a read/write filesystem type and is compatible with both Mac and PC.) Step 9: Complete Hit “Apply” when prompted. After, a warning will alert you that all current files will be deleted from the X10 pro. Select “Partition.” Two storage locations (in this case, Crucial X10 pro backup and Crucial X10 pro transfers) will appear on the desktop. Conclusion Hopefully this guide will help you set up your Crucial portable SSD and get the most out of your device. Shop SSDs and DRAM and learn more about SSDs in our helpful content hub.

Blazing fast and reliable

Blazing fast and reliable. I use it for my Audio/video production. My samples and vst plugins are on the crucial external drive. I'm able to instantly run plugins and samples without any lag. However, the price on Amazon is bit too much.

Good speed, bad quality material!

It has been less than a month since i brought the product, the rubber is already comming off! The product is sticky, the packaging was bad but i had to use it because of urgency, but please dont buy this! And take this product back! The speed and everything is good and reliable, but the product quality is inferior!

I like the Speeeed

The data transfer speed is truly the same as shown in the advertisement. It is truly a worthwhile product and can be used to connect to a Mac, phone, or any other device to transfer files at high speed.

Excellent speed and compact design. Rubber base needs a protective coating long-term.

Very cute, compact and light form factor. Speed is excellent. The only negative I found is that the "non-skid" base rubber coating degrades to a sticky mess. I covered it with adhesive plastic film. Someone has advised to update the firmware, so I intend to follow thru on that. But my experience is positive up to now.
