Gold Standard for Smoothie Blending
It was probably a decade ago that I first heard about Vitamix from a coworker. He bought one for his wife for Xmas. After some research, I determined it was WAYYYY out of my budget. Many years later, older, and more health-conscious, I started making smoothies with a NutriBullet. It’s super-compact but struggled with blending frozen fruit and ice. The ingredients will get stuck, and the engine struggled. I’ve even had a Breville blender which was still $200 and didn’t do much better of a job. Finally, I took the leap and purchased one when I caught news it was on sale. Finally, I can afford it. Okay, let’s see what all the hype is about. I really liked how there were presets for each type of blending with preset variable speed cycles and timer. Don’t forget the proper layering of smoothie ingredients - the different cycling in the program. The cycle starts off slow to mix the liquid and greens. Once the bed of greens liquifies, the rest of the ingredients sink down into the blade. Once the blade reaches the frozen ingredients, the engine revs up and cuts through everything. You can feel the strength of the motor because anything lightweight behind the blender is sent flying. Even the chia seeds got obliterated. It is overall the perfect kitchen appliance - engineering at its finest. Did you ever wonder why the pitchers are so narrow and tall - making it difficult to store on the countertop under most kitchen cabinets. The reason behind this befuddling feature is that with a narrow pitcher, the ingredients will come into contact with the blade more. The type of plastic the pitcher was made of dries super-fast. I LOVE that. Ditto for the lid. The lid has a dome shape. Not certain of the purpose. The material rinses very very well and easily. Overall, I am ecstatic with my purchase. One thing of note is ALWAYS peel your produce. I got lazy one day and did not peel the apple skin. The Vitamix really struggled. I had to run the smoothie program twice. I’m afraid it would be bad for the blender. With the high price tag, I must treat this appliance carefully. I’ve noticed the feet on the blender left gray smudges on the white countertop. I started using a mat underneath to protect my counters.

Upgrading to a Vitamix is an actual HUGE upgrade
Right to the point: - **The blades are intentionally dull** - It's easy to clean (it has a clean cycle), and has no bad crevices that are difficult to reach - It's dishwasher safe - The carafe is built like a bullet-proof tank - The machine is hefty - There was no leakage while using - It's really easy to use - The variable speed feature means you can cover all the bases - The 64oz carafe is perfect (48oz might be better if you do small preparations) I had a lot of blending to do, and the little Oster wasn't up to the task. It typically had to run 3 to 5 minutes to get the consistency needed (blending chili sauce from boiled whole chili pods). The Vitamix, with its intentionally dull blades made quick work of the chili pods, needing to run for about 1 minute for the desired consistency. I also put it through its paces with smoothies, and there really are no rules for crushing ice (unlike the Oster). Bottom line, if you use your blender frequently (once or twice a week for me), then it really is worth upgrading to a Vitamix. All these years of saying my previous blender was just fine were self-delusion. If you can afford a Vitamix, it's definitely a huge upgrade over retail store brands.

Pros: Wonderful. Cons: Loud! Poor documentation
PERFORMANCE: Love it! I haven’t used all the features yet, but it has done an amazing job so far. DOCUMENTATION: Lousy. What I don’t like is that there is virtually no instructions or recipes included. For a machine this expensive to be told “go online for recipe ideas” is ridiculous. Particularly as the presets could use a little explanation. (Eg: dessert. Huh?) SOUND LEVEL: It is crazy, painful, ear drum piercingly loud. I’ve spent an enormous amount of time trying to figure out how to build a sound deadening enclosure for it that fits under cabinets. Can’t believe no one is addressing that market need. I’m not that creative, so wish me luck as I try to find a DYI solution.

Easy to use and clean
This is a wonderful machine that works and cleans easily. We use it now for smoothies but I'm sure will put it to other uses. It functions great and the foot tastes excellent. Highly recommended.

Worth the expense
I debated this purchase for a very long time. I have a Ninja I love. I finally decided to get the Vitamix and I will say it has been worth the "hype" so far. First let me say it is louder than the Ninja, that does not bother me as long as it works well and works well it does. I drink a lot of smoothies and I am very pleased with just how smooth and well mixed they are. The size is great, it fits under my counter well. The best part is the cleaning cycle. No more removing blades and washing and each part, I just rinse it off, fill halfway with water, a drop of dish soap and in thirty seconds its finished, rinse, let it dry, done. I am glad a went ta little higher in the price and got the preset functions, its just easy to set and let it go. There is a weird burning small at first but the book does actually explain that will wear off and it has. Considering the price did make me cringe, I feel like it may just be worth it.

This Vitamix has been incredible. I waited quite a while to convince myself to buy one, but after a year of use, it still feels like overkill in the best way. This things is awesome. High powered blending, easy rinsing, and it makes smoothies actually smooth. It’s loud, though. There’s no getting around that. Cleaning was my biggest concern and it turned out to be the easiest part: a quick rinse and it’s basically done, no scrubbing or awkward corners. The power is unreal; it will pulverize whatever you toss in, frozen fruit, nuts, greens, whatever. The noise is intense (jet-engine level), and it genuinely startled my kids the first few times even from another room with warning. One odd note: every time I open the cupboard, there’s still a faint “new electronics” smell from the base a year later. Not sure if that’s normal, but I weirdly like it. If you have the money to invest in a good blender, and even half think you will get value out of it, go for it. I have found uses for this thing that I hadn't even planned for.

Not happy with this coming from U S. 4,000 plus air miles. Have wanted one of these for over a decade so was keen to try it out, but when I unpacked it I found it had a U S plug on it. Have had to order an adapter and wait for it to be delivered. While checking adapter details to make sure I ordered the correct one I saw a warning that other countries electricity voltage may be different from ours. So, now I don’t know if it will work when the adapter arrives. None of this is mentioned in Amazon’s product description. Wish I’d never bought it! Suggest you think twice (at least) Not worth the hassle. Also just found out from Amazon that they only provide a 2 year warranty but Vitamix give this product a 7 year warranty! But it is not possible to register for that outside U S. Plus after considerable time spent researching on line find that Vitamix cannot be contacted by email. No way to run a company! Adapter just arrived. Blender does not work. After more research I find that us voltage is different to uk so now need a voltage converter. This appliance SHOULD NOT BE advertised on uk site! Ordered a voltage converter to see if I could get this to work. That now arrived but not suitable for such a high powered appliance. Advised that converter needed is £200 to £300 hundred pounds. SHAME ON AMAZON for selling me this blender! So disappointing and such a waste of time and money!!!

Vitamix is the gold standard when it comes to professional type blenders and the Propel series represents their “best-bang-go-buck” series. This unit is a step up from there entry level line and in my opinion is the best value proposition of the entire line. Critically important is this unit will work with virtually all their containers including their classic tall 2.0L container. Highly useful features include a self-cleaning program and Four automatic Blending Programs for Smoothie, Hot Soup, Frozen Dessert, and Dip & Spread. A 7 year warranty will give you piece of mind for many years. This blender creates professional store-quality smoothies effortlessly and is arguably its most popular use. (we use it daily) The new lower profile design compared to legacy u its will also fit under the kitchen counter fo many people. This product is a must buy for anyone who likes to cook at home - its literally one of the very top kitchen purchases you can make and once you’ve owned one you can never go back to tier 2 blenders like the Ninja.
