Skyflame 24" Fire Pit Glass Wind Guard, Round

I had the earlier version of this which didn’t have drilled holes for the brackets but instead used brackets with rubber inserts that were supposed to hold the brackets against the glass through changes of temperature and , I don’t know , the movement of the earth on its axis. Instead the brackets fell down, the glass wasn’t held in place, and in a medium strength wind, the glass actually blew off the fireplace and broke. It was some stupid cheap CAD-CAM engineering solution based on no actual reality. This new version which acknowledges that an actual hole for the screws bracing the brackets is ACTUALLY needed in a real world setting of weather and movement- which should have been the first version- is the best version. It’s beautiful and strong. I love it!! It’s a dream come true.

Very pleased with the quality of this wind guard. It went together easily, looks and fits as expected.

I hate to take away stars but the four glass pieces aren’t each 90 degrees — something less and that makes for stress in the aluminum brackets that hold it together. The screws that secure the glass have plastic tips which is good, but you can’t really tighten them down too hard without worrying about chipping the glass. We were hoping it would be sturdy enough to lift on and off our patio table with a fire bowl for extra room if need be, but it tried to come apart. Assembled on the table and left there it’s good but I’d still like brackets with more of an angle to line up better with the glass segments, or glass that has a bit more of a bend angle. What I really wish is there was a full circle / tube segment.

After doing a lot of research to make sure that I had some thing that was not too big and not too close to the bowl of my fire pit and reading a bunch of reviews like I usually do I chose this one for my deck fire pit. I had to do some work to it and get the ceiling out there painted again and finally it got done and I was able to put it together now. I also got a stainless steel lid to put over the rocks as well and just decided however it fits it fits because I had too much going on. I thought maybe the silver lid that's larger than the bowl would end up sitting on top of this glass and I would just have to deal with it. But it didn't fit perfectly! It was just enough outside of the bowl and the silver lid to be absolutely perfect! Totally made my day and I'm so excited that it all worked out and the best possible way! Easy to put together I did it by myself in no time. Once you tighten the screws if you're careful you can flip it over yourself. I actually put it together on the fire pit. I found the gloves unnecessary and cumbersome. Maybe they to try to not get fingerprints on the glass but you really need to have a grip and I can always clean fingerprints. Easy to put on and screw together. I actually don't know why you can't put it together the way it needs to sit instead of upside down and then flip it. To me it wouldn't be really any more effort with a little rubber tap at the bottom. But I followed the directions. I cannot remember the specifics as to why I bought this one and it is a little bit of an investment being over $100Hundred dollars but I didn't want the flames flickering out as all the seating I have is around it and not that far away. So five stars from me!
