Edited December 2011 to add another star. I've had zero problems with this and it's been worth every penny. After growing tired of a cheap-o little plastic container-on-a-track that we'd rigged up as a garbage can holder, we finally broke down and bought this product. We knew of Rev-A-Shelf because we had previously installed several kitchen cabinet pull-out shelves (the kind you cut down to size to fit) and were pretty happy with the quality and value (and pleased as punch with the extra space and ease of use it gave us). And I'd say the same about the pull-out garbage bin. It works very well, is easy to install and use, and is a good value for the cost. Our criteria: - Had to fit in a corner cabinet, angled to avoid plumbing. Check. - Had to pull out far enough (even in a corner cabinet) so the back of the bin would clear the edge of the cabinet, for easy of removal for emptying. Check. - Had to have capacity at least equal to the one we were replacing. Check. A tall kitchen garbage sack fills it perfectly. - Track had to glide easily. Check -- easy to pull out and push in. At first it glided like butter. After a few weeks of use it needed a very slight tug to get it started -- but it's slight, and the glide has not degraded at all since then (and to be honest, it may be that we dropped something on the track; I've been too lazy to climb in there and look.) Still glides very easily -- my toddlers can do it with one hand and I can with a pinky. - Had to be long enough and sturdy enough to extend all the way out of the cabinet, and hold a full garbage can while fully extended. Check. The frame and hardware appear well-made and I see no sagging or other issues that make me think this won't last for years. Bonuses: - The bin is black, which (I didn't realize until now) is much better at hiding dirty fingerprints, drips, and general kitchen yuck. - Easy enough to install. The track is pre-assembled. You just need to put in a few screws and slide the bin into the bracket. Our corner cabinet with plumbing made it a very tight squeeze, particularly when trying to put the screws in the back part of the track. But that's not the fault of the product's design. That's simply the reality of our space. It does not have a handle. But that was irrelevant to me so it doesn't count against. The bin has a lip and that's what I use to pull it out of the cabinet. Unless the handle were on the top of the bin itself, it would be too low to use comfortably, anyway. Overall, a product I would absolutely recommend.

Easy to install. Works great

When we purchased our home, there was a Rev-A-Shelf pullout waste basket in the kitchen. If I had to guess, I'd say the assembly was the original unit installed in 1988 when house was built. Since moving in, I had replaced the basket as the original one started to crack at the lip and gradually got worse. Eventually, the rollers that glide on the track began to bend and deform making it difficult to pull in and out of cabinet. Eventually all the jostling and tugging bent the frame and track. After weeks of looking for a replacement, I was happy to find this "upgrade" on Amazon. Although not referenced as a direct replacement to what I had, I was able to matchup by dimensions. The installation took less than 20 minutes with clear instructions (note, my job was made easy as I was able to simply fasten the new one down where the old one was....no new holes to drill). This unit has a very solid frame and glides super-smooth on its track. My family was so used to pulling and tugging at the old one that for a week or two we found ourselves exerting too much force on this new one. This one feels solid but not bulky or heavy. I am extremely pleased with my purchase and fully expect this to last for years; but in the off chance it does not, I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again. This model comes with a little wire basket in the back for trash bags. We use it for that purpose, but not the easiest to get at while the garbage can is in place. I think maybe the manufacturer expects that you would take the basket out of the frame and set it on the floor before changing out the garbage bag. But that's not usually the case in our house. Anyway, the basket is there and we use it...but it wasn't really a selling point for us. If someone were basing their purchasing decision on it being there, just be aware that even with the basket glide extended fully, there will be some contorting to get at the basket.

Five stars all the way!! My dog kept getting into and tipping over the garbage can in our kitchen. Even with the "built in lock" on our old can, he always found a way. Now I've got him fooled, as he can't open the cabinet to tip this new one over. I was worried about downsizing to a smaller can, but it still holds quite a bit at one time!! We decided to remove the 1/2 shelf that was in the cabinet, mostly because it was a nuisance to begin with. Due to the plumbing set up under our sink, we couldn't utilize this can there. So it's in the cabinet next to the sink. I love the tray behind the can, my garbage bag box fits right in it. I even have room to the side of the can for our recyclables! I hemmed and hawed for a week over this product and a higher end name brand of the same style, but this one definitely was worth the gamble. Took my husband minutes to assemble and while the pieces aren't super strength (i.e. My toddler could break it if left unattended) it works great and pulling it out is so easy. If you're debating, definitely try it out!

Decent trash can that fits in a small cabinet. Deducting a star due to the fact that they tell you to mount it 1/8” back from the edge of the cabinet when that means you get interference from the sliding basket - mount a 1/4” back and you avoid this issue.

Having examined the cheap pullout kitchen waste cans at the big-box home improvement store, I was hesitant to order this item. But, as it was the only full-size (35 quart) pullout can I could find that fit our cabinet, I took a chance. Glad I did! The metal frame is impressively solid and heavy. The parts were all separately bagged to prevent damage in transit. All parts were included—in fact two wire baskets were sent although only one is used. Assembly instructions are pretty clear. I was happy that the unit is attached with just 4 screws into the cabinet floor. As long as its mechanism (which slides smoothly) clears the hinges and face plate at the cabinet front, it is forgiving of exact placement. I chose not to use the optional (extra) kit to attach it to the cabinet door since the door pull is on the side rather than at the center of the door. We are really happy with this unit! It seemed pricey, but now that I see the design and build quality and smooth operation, the price feels well justified.

Got this to use in an under counter cupboard as under my sink didn’t work and I wish I’d done it years ago. Easy installation and it glides in and out beautifully. Very nice quality and should last for years.

Rev A Shelf makes quality kitchen cabinet shelves and accessories and this is no exception. It went together very easily and just four screws to install which are included. The container behind the trash can (also included) is nice to store your trash bags. It is removable if you do not have the space behind the trash can due to piping, etc. We have an 8” depth Undermount kitchen sink which accommodates this sliding waste can assembly with about 2” to spare. Please measure under cabinet and sink clearance if you are planning on using this unit under a 9” or 10” Undermount sink. The only thing we had to do for the installation was to trim an under sink vinyl mat as it had a rim on it and caught the bottom of the slide mechanism for the trash can.

My kitchen will never be without this. I love not having my garbage can in the open but also being able to access it easily. Love this and highly recommend it.
