Daughters comment. This book is fabulous. It teaches you the basic stitches that you need to create a variety of effects with clear precise pictures and text. Nicely structured book. It covers the materials needed to create your own embroidery and gives you samples of what you can make. Overall an excellent book for a beginner like myself to embroidery.

Doodle Stitching: Fresh and Fun Embroidery for Beginners I have always wanted to embroider & have never been brave enough.I bought this book after reading the amazon reviews I was not disappointed it's fab! The stitches are presented clear & colourful. I loved that the projects are simple but also that they are inspiring, you really think I could do that, what's more I could add a bit of this and....I particularily liked the fireworks design on the halter top as it's a simple way to customise clothes & the cute softie owl & racoon. If you don't know where to begin by this you won't regret it!

This is a great book for beginners. I had not embroidered anything in my life but the book covered the basics very well. There are also a number of examples that you can make, but I've just used them for inspiration so far - the whole point of the book is to go out and make your own. I highly recommend this book for beginners. I can't comment on how intermediate/advanced embroiders would find it but for me it was great. After I was done reading it I felt I could definitely re-create the front of the book picture if I wanted.

I like the simple way this is laid out, and the way it has simple projects which I personally would use as inspiration rather than carry out exactly. It seems to encourage you to freestyle rather than use old-fashioned prescribed methods, and the modern method appeals to me much more. I'd recommend this for beginners and dabblers and perhaps young people - I am a dabbler. If you want to be a dyed-in-the-wool old-fashioned embroidery person then this might not be the best book.

This book is a refreshing change from traditional embroidery books. It's modern and inspiring. Ideal for beginners. It concentrates on about 18 basic stitches to create a range of designs. No counting or measuring. Lot's of clear and bright photographs and only minimum equipment required. I can't wait to get started.

This is a nice book with pretty projects. However if you are buying it for an absolute novice like me then the intro section on the different stitches will not be clear enough to get you started. I would suggest going onto You Tube and watching some of the excellent demos people have uploaded e.g.' Mary Corbert' has a clear voice and great camera work

Thanks to this book I can now do French Knots, something I've been trying to figure out since I was 16 and I'm 40 now!. Nice clear instructions and pretty designs.

I like Aimee Ray’s designs so much, I bought both the Doodle Stitching book and the Doodle Stitching Transfer Pack.

刺繍のステッチのこととか、図案が事細かに載っているわけでは無い。 図案に関しても、本のあちらこちらの作品から適当に写し取る感じ。 図案を作品にどのように使うか・・・とか、色使いはどのようにするかといったことは、 とても参考になると思う。 作品や図案がとてもかわいく、簡単に出来るオーナメントなどは、刺繍が初めての方にもすてきに出来ると思う。

Libro di ricamo utile per principianti che ci regala progetti divertenti e ore spensierate. IL LIBRO è adatto a chi si approccia al mondo del ricamo da poco o vuole ricominciare con questa simpatica forma espressiva. Vengono presentati i materiali, i progetti e gli schemi; i progetti comprendono oggetti di uso quotidiano come borsette, pochette, foulard e possono essere aggiunti a qualunque nostro capo d'abbigliamento, come ad esempio ad una gonna o ad una camicetta. I punti vengono illustrati efficacemente con disegni a colori che illustrano al meglio la tecnica. MI CONVINCE? Sì, anche se per me non è una grande novità in quanto ricamo da tanti anni e questi punti già li conoscevo. È un insieme di idee semplici da poter sfruttare per ricami che non costano grande fatica; lo consiglio soprattutto a chi è alle prime armi, chi è più esperto potrebbe trovarlo già visto o troppo semplice. Le idee sono comunque molto ma molto graziose, direi deliziose, quindi se anche siete esperte, ma come me, cercate ricami semplici con motivi teneri e delicati, è un libro che potrà piacervi. Ottima qualità della stampa, delle foto, dei disegni e della rilegatura. Testo interamente in inglese PRO: ricami ben spiegati, vari punti da cui attingere anche per altri lavori, tanti progetti ben definiti. CONTRO: ad oggi nessuno.
