Yes yes yes
This book is a 10/10. The first book is so much like Eragon I thought this book would be more of the same. I WAS WRONG. This book went a completely different way, a fantastic way!

Must read for fantasy lovers.
Exceptional! If you love fantasy, this series is a must. There is something special about this author and I can't quite put my finger on it. I read many books a year and only purchase "real" books for the exceptional reads (otherwise they get kindle status). Have purchased 3 "real" books in this series so far and I cannot get enough. The paper on the books feels very nice and thick. The books have all arrived in great condition. What a delightful story!

Everything you want in a fantasy story...and more!
Book Two of The Bound and the Broken series leaves the reader breathless, shocked, surprised, and in desperate need of more. Numerous characters, many on different paths, dance and weave through the narrative. This may be an 800+ page book, but it moves FAST and is unrelenting. There are characters you love...and love to hate. The plots are all weaving together. As a reader, you can see it happening and you dread and exalt in what might be coming! There are flaws, yes. The most intrusive flaw for me was the reliance on often-repeated phrases that took me out of the story and made me wince a few times. Hair standing on end, vomit at the back of the throat and tremors running the length of a character's arm as swords clashed are three of the most obtrusive ones. There must be different descriptions that can be used in future books. At least, I hope there are. Having said that, these are flaws in the editing process that authors of all stripes learn to address as they grow in experience and I have no doubts this will happen here. In the end, Ryan Cahill has created one hell of a story and populated it with interesting characters. Humor is sprinkled throughout, keeping it from being too grim. There is a lot of blood, death and a couple scenes of outright torture. There is love and pain, mixed with determination and set-back. The characters all come into their own. There is also a surprise twist at the end that is breath-taking. Literally a shock I never saw coming. Brilliant!! Of Darkness and Light is an awesome achievement. It is everything a fantasy reader wants from a story. It is immersive, spectacular in its descriptions of cities and details that are unique to each one, and emotionally fulfilling in ways most sophomore novelists are just trying to attain. This novel is a powerful five star read. Worthy of the time and emotions spent on taking this journey with Calen and Company. Readers will NOT be disappointed.
