great lock
This is exactly as advertised. I love the lock part. Some locks I have had in the past the dials have a lot of play in them to make it feel like the mechanism is cheap. This feels very solid as you dial the numbers and lock and unlock. Really impressed, I love the extra item to hold the lock on your bike. I didn't have room to mount it under my seat as I am a safety nut and have a reflector as well as taillight. I wanted it mounted on the frame part that holds the seat post. It wouldn't fit at first but realized it had a rubber sleeve inside (I guess so not to scratch the frame) so I removed that and voila it fit perfectly. I store it there so now I don't need to remember to bring along the lock when we go. But even without the storage clip I loved it and could have wrapped it around the upper bar of the frame. The clip was a real clincher though! One more thing that was nice, I have had other locks (my previous one which made me somewhat nervous about this one) that are coiled and they are very hard to straighten out to lock the bikes up sometimes pulling out of my hand as they try to recoil themselves. This one was very easy to straighten out and use. I do wonder if the coil will begin to sag after time and then not be able to use the clip because the cable will hang too loosely.

Great product, great support!
Very happy with the product. I bought it to primarily secure my wife's and my bike when I don't need to use my heavy duty Kryptonite locks. The latter are really heavy to tote around when not needed. So when we stop at a restaurant in a fairly public area or want to take a break and walk around an area I will on using these. I doubt I would use them in unlighted low traffic areas, but then again even the Kryptonites are at tisk under these conditions. The Ushakes seem pretty well put together, with a rugged lock mechanism. I also like that the fact that the combination wheels are fairly large and can be easily manipulated. The cable itself is fairly pliable so it makes it easy to maneuver around the bikes. It weighs slightly over a pound whereas the K's are almost 3+ lbs., this make a big difference on the bike. I was not able to use the plastic carrying clamp provided to attach to the bike but this is because I have a pannier mounted over the rear wheel so there just is not enough room. This is not a Ushake problem, so no stars lost there. I instead thread a couple of loops of the cable through the frame underpinning my saddle and lock the cable, which works great - it's out of the way and I'll never lose it. The folks at Ushake really understand customer service! I screwed up my initial setting of the combination and in a panic sent off an email, which they replied to within a couple of hours. I had figured out my issue so didn't need assistance at that point but it was good to know they were there if help is needed. Nice job, guys!

Good cable lock, poor plastic mounting bracket
I purchased this 1.5 months ago. The lock seems sturdy, the combination very easy to set. The dial requires firm finger torque to turn, but I'm not counting off for that. While the lock seems to be pretty good quality, it seems as if the manufacturer used something akin to egg carton quality plastic to fabricate the mounting bracket. My bracket installed without problem, and I'm pretty sure I didn't overtighten the bolts, but one day I discovered the mount had slid down my center beam to the bottom. One bolt had ripped completely through the bracket, the other hole had a crack through the plastic to the edge. I sent a message to the seller today asking about a replacement. [UPDATE 2016/05/22] The seller asked for more pictures and to confirm my mailing address, presumably to send a replacement bracket. If I receive a replacement, I'll reinforce the bolts with large washers. [UPDATE 2016/06/21] The seller sent a replacement lock and bracket (so now I have two locks). I carefully mounted the new bracket on my seat post (before it was mounted on the frame tube in which the seat post was inserted) and faced the lock bracket rearward (before it was facing forward). I used a washer for each of the two screw heads, relying on the hex nut to act as a washer since it fits into a hex-shaped recessed hole. I slowly tightened each of the two screws til very snug, but (hopefully) not so much as to overly stress the plastic. So far, no noticeable deterioration/breakage, but time will tell. The lock is pretty heavy, which may have contributed to the breakage of the first bracket. Added 1 star. [UPDATE 2016/10/23] Around July the replacement bracket broke in similar fashion, around the screw mounting holes, despite the washers. I have resorted to keeping the cable lock in my bike saddle bag.

A Little Longer and a Little Thicker, Well Made, Good Cable and Lock for the Money; Will Stop All But Very Determined Thieves
This is a really nice lock and cable at an attractive price. The 1/2 inch thick cable is a little more theft resistant to the average goon trying to cut it with a cable cutter. Most of the cable locks in this price range are only 3/8 inch thick or .40 inch thick. Yes, it could be cut if the thief were determined enough, but I think this one is solid enough that only a determined, veteran bike thief would succeed in cutting it. That small bit of extra protection thus gets rid of about 90 percent of the thieves out there. Most will look this lock, especially if it is securing a modestly prices bike, and just move on to easier prey. The 6 feet length is great, especially when, like me, you like to snake the cable through the front wheel, too, to keep a thief from swiping your quick release front wheel. It seems solidly built. The mount works fine and is easy to attach. Very happy with this item. It was easy to set the combination to my desired 4 digit code. Came with easy to follow instructions.

Low security, easy to decode lock with a subpar attachment
UPDATE: Ushake reached out to me with an apology on the quality of the attachment and assured me that it has been improved. They've sent me a new lock, so depending on how that holds up I may revise that piece of the review. The issues with the ease of decoding the lock still stand. Although I've not had the chance to put the attachment through it's paces, I did discover something else rather disturbing. Even with a brand new unit, the lock is actually quite easy to decode despite the false gate on each disc. It takes me about a minute to get into the new unit, while the older unit I have takes just a couple seconds (presumably due to the wearing down of the mechanism which attempts to mask the feedback once you reach a gate). Because of this, I have a hard time recommending it to anyone. It will act as a deterrent for the most casual of bike thieves, but anyone with a mind and a minute can get through it without difficulty and without any obvious destructive method. As I had originally mentioned, the attachment that keeps it on the bicycle broke very quickly. I've settled for throwing it in my backpack when I'm carrying one or wrapping around the forks otherwise, but it's a bit of a bother. The recommended installation location has it flopping around quite a lot, so I'd recommend putting in a bag in any case.

Solid lock, recommend.
If you are looking for a lightweight portable lock look no further. I would highly recommend this if you're looking for something to lock your bike in a safe area or just to use as a theft deterrent. These types of locks can easily be cut, but if you're just using it to grab lunch or a run to the store it should serve all of your needs. I personally would use a U lock if you're going to store your bike outside for extended periods of time. I tried to pick the lock, just to check the safety and I approve of it's ability to lock. Setting the combination was easy. For my needs (a bike to the store or grabbing a bite to eat) it works perfect. Would buy again! My Amazon Review Criteria: 5 Star: I got what I expected from the product and it was/worked better than expected. If you are considering a purchase, buy it. Would buy it again, I highly recommend. 4 Star: I got what I expected from the product and that is all. It just works. Still recommend the Item, probably hard to find a better product than this. Would buy again, I highly recommend. 3 Star: I got what I expected from the product most of the time. Has a few problems but it can be overlooked. Might buy the product again, but will look for other alternatives as well. I recommend the product, there might be better alternatives. 2 Star: I barely got what I expected from the product. Has many problems, product is bad. Would not buy again. I do not recommend buying this product unless there are no other alternatives. 1 Star: I never got what I expected from the product. Would not buy the product again, requested a refund or returned the product. (This is very rare for me.) I do not recommend buying this product whatsoever. Note: I did NOT receive any incentive buying or reviewing this product. I want people to find products they like and will use.

Great lock, great price
I bought a similar looking lock at my bike shop a couple of years ago, one with a twist lock retainer that clamps onto the frame. The problem with the old lock that I broke the twist retainer not knowing if I was supposed to turn right or left! Comparing my old lock to this newer better lock, I only have good things to report. Pros: 1: The cable lock retainer (mounted on the bike frame) that comes with this lock has a simple top mount push button design that is easy and intuitively holds the stored lock in from the top. 2: The numbers are easier to read with a high visibility orange paint, and the dials click distinctly into place and don't shift around. 3: This lock was less expensive and has better improvements compared to the one I bought at the bike shop a couple of years ago. Both the old lock and the new lock are 6 foot long and 1/2 inch diameter, with similar dimensional shape.

Great basic cable lock - until it's not
Edit 9/23/2022: After using this lock for nine months, I went to remove it after locking my bike to the bike rack and it wouldn't unlock. I tried for a few minutes, moving the dials a number in each direction and attempting to pull it apart. then, I decided to just break it. I was able to twist it and break it in my hands. I am a 60-year-old man and I broke the lock with my hands. It is an OK lock. The bad part was that it got jammed. I am guessing one of the dials spun on its center and the slot wasn't lined up properly with the numbers anymore.. I am old, but I can remember the combination I have been using for a couple of years. I live in an upper middle class suburb. I ride my bike to the grocery and to the library and for errands that are less than 7 miles and have safe routes. Many folks do not lock their bikes in our area and once in a while one goes missing. It usually turns up a couple blocks away. To avoid that hassle, I use this cable lock. It's lightweight, easy to carry, and it is a deterrent. It's a pretty good lock that will keep honest people honest. I don't think it will stop a prepared thief who wants your bike. I wouldn't use it to lock a bike all day, every day in an unsecure place. No cable lock will suffice in that situation. I have a large, heavy U-shaped key lock for those occasions. Even that won't stop a determined thief with a 20 volt grinder.
