One woman’s worst fears come to life in the third novel of the Devil’s Night dark romance series by New York Times bestseller Penelope Douglas, now with bonus material. Sending Damon to prison was the worst thing Winter could’ve done. It didn’t matter that he did the crime or that she wished he was dead. Winter thought he’d cool off in jail and be anything but the horror he was, or that at the very least she’d have time to disappear before he got out. But she was wrong. Three years came and went too fast, and prison only gave him time to plan. And while Winter anticipated his vengeance, she didn’t expect this. He doesn’t want to make her hurt. He wants to make everything hurt. Damon knows he needs to get rid of Winter’s father, giving her, her sister, and her mother nowhere to run. The Ashby women are desperate for a knight in shining armor. But that’s not what’s coming. It's time Damon took control of his future. It’s time he showed them all that he will never stop being the nightmare they think he is. Damon won’t have to break into her home to do it. As the new man of the house, he has all the keys. Review: Let's see if the ultimate villain is redeemable... - "She was mine. In our secluded, secret little world, she was mine. I wanted to watch her dance, and I wanted to steal her away a thousand more times to feel her excitement and fear and live through how vulnerable and sweet she was, but... I wanted to keep her happy, pure, and innocent, too. I didn't want to ruin her." This read through was just as profound as the last read through. I wondered if listening via an audiobook would throw me off but it actually fit really well for this book. Damon is a true anti hero. Villain of the prior two books with what seemed like a bleak chance of coming back. I mean he went to jail for sleeping with Winter while she was underage, almost killed his best friend by drowning him, attempted to hurt Rika and although his intentions were good he completely abused Banks during her most formative years. And that's not even close to the full list, just some of his more notable abuses. I knew we were building up to his book in both Corrupt and Hideaway but I truly wondered if he could be redeemed. I can't really say he was redeemed but honestly I don't care. Damon was still the same man he was in the prior two books. His morals are undoubtedly questionable, he doesn't care much for justifications and he shames those around him to mask his own pain. Even still, I adore Damon. He'd probably get rid of me for characterizing him with such a fluffy word but he is such a complex and deep character. Through flashbacks we start to understand why Damon is the way he is but without excusing his behavior. Again, this is a dark romance so if you are looking for hero's or redeemable villains this might not be the book for you. "Being with him was like dancing. Dancing with death." Okay so Rika in Corrupt was whatever, Banks in Hideaway is my ultimate girl crush but Winter, phew I forgot just how incredible Winter is. Winter is pure and innocent and strong of mind but she didn't stand a chance with Damon and yet she did. Winter is blind and so she literally sees/doesn't see the world differently than most of us. Damon is the reason Winter is blind. I love that her disability wasn't sugarcoated. Damon wanted to hurt Winter and Winter wanted to be loved and couldn't rid herself of a time when Damon gave everything good in himself to her. Winter understood Damon in a way no one else did and in a sense, Winter was Damon's peace even though he was her storm. “He made himself the cure, which wouldn’t have been necessary if he hadn’t also created the disease.” The passion and connection between Damon and Winter was undeniable, it was everything I wanted when I read Corrupt and felt Michael and Rika lacked. Their connection was toxic but it was also healing. Damon was depraved, by far the worst of the horsemen, but then we also saw how he was towards Winter while they were together. We also saw it in his interactions with Banks, Rika and Will. Damon is wired differently and he doesn't connect the way most of us do due to his trauma in his childhood. I could go on and on about this book because of all the complexities and connections but at the core is a traumatic love story filled with depraved men growing up from the boys they once were, and the women who love them despite their depravity. “Because pain in the body quiets the pain in the head. It feels good, like a kill switch for your brain.” Review: Obsession, Hate and Seduction Kept me Turning the Pages of Kill Switch! - Kill Switch is the third book in the Devil's Night Series. Each story in this series includes the "Four Horseman," (Michael, Kai, Damon and Will;) has a large plot that includes these central characters, and a smaller plot that focuses on one of the horseman and the woman that he has a love/hate obsession with. Therefore, it is highly recommended that you read these books in order, so that you are not lost. Kill Switch is Damon and Winter's story. These two character's have a long, dark and fascinating history with one another. They met when she was just eight and he was eleven years old. Throughout the years, interest, fascination, attraction, and temptation, have turned in to obsession, seduction, and rage; due to a variety of circumstances that were out of their control for the most part. Damon is the most twisted and disturbing of the four horseman. However, we learn the reasons behind his dark ways. Little by little, we see a softer side and vulnerability that Winter soley brings out in Damon. I thought it was great how Ms. Douglas gave Damon's character so many complex layers. It added dimension and made his character interesting and realistic. I loved how loyal, protective, and devoted he was to those he cared about. With Winter, we see her strength, perseverance, resilience, and gutsiness. She can be vulnerable, as well as feisty. She doesn't let anyone run all over her, and that was a huge part of her appeal to Damon. I loved her character! The plot of Kill Switch was slow-paced in certain areas, and fast-paced in others. I especially loved the ending, and all of the exciting and unexpected plot twists! The story delivered a variety of different elements. There were parts that were sexy, as well as suspenseful, and emotional, which added to the ebb and flow of the story. A word of caution, this story is written for mature audiences and has dark and explicit erotic elements. This is not a "vanilla," romance, so if that is not your "thing," then this story is not for you. It was wonderful being reunited with all of the characters from the previous books in the series, and I am really looking forward to getting Will's story next. The teaser for his story had me dying to get my hands on it right now!!! The Devil's Night Series is unique and unlike anything I've ever read before. I have enjoyed all of these books immensely, and am a total fan girl for everything written by Penelope Douglas!

OMG
I'm not a huge 5 star reviewer. I once read something someone wrote about how they review and how they only give 5 stars if they feel like it changed them. I wouldn't say that this book "changed' me in the way I think people think "change" means, like their whole life is different. But this book slayed me in the best way. The whole Devil's Night series is so good. It's not your typical series. It's not romantic and not all scary but it leaves you on the edge, with just enough passion to draw you in. The first two books were awesome. I remember holding off on reading Corrupt because it didn't seem like my kind of book. But once I started reading it, I couldn't put it down and now have a love for the series and their characters. Speaking of characters, they are all flawed in some way. None are the typical happy-go-lucky teenagers or angst driven ones either. They all have deep scars brought on by their families and society. But you connect to some and you just love to either love or hate the others. No Damon. I never had a soft spot for him. I actually did not like him in Corrupt and then in Hideaway felt my heart go out to him (but only for a little while). And while he doesn't back away from his crazy,messed-up self in Kill Switch, you see another side of him. You start to find out his back story and see his early interactions with Winter. By the end of the book he became my favorite character. Deeply flawed but changing. You see his passion and respect for those he loves and how he defends them with his life. You see how he turned out the way he did and can see that he could have been so different had he been surrounded by people who actually cared about him growing up. Then you have Winter. She has a disability but doesn't let it slow her down. You see her fight to be taken seriously and you also see her fear. She lets her emotions run their course and but doesn't back down from a fight. I loved reading about how she "sees" the world (or hears I guess) but how she perceives the world through her other senses. I loved seeing her growth and how she slowly found her place in the group. My favorite scenes were when the whole group was together, working together and enjoying each other. The Coldfield professor scene was hilarious and amazing and seeing them work together, seeing them have fun, was the best. I love seeing them being young and alive and interacting. And then my other favorite scenes was seeing Damon show his vulnerable sides, like in Winter's bedroom after the door incident. These scenes really drew me in and made me feel. I love that this book gave us so much from all the supporting characters from the other books while giving us all the backstory and new story of Damon and Winter. Seeing these two things weave together to give us a great book that I couldn't put down. The emotions the story stirred and the ways in which you hated and loved the characters gave me life. As soon as I was done reading, I went back to all my bookmarked areas and read them all over again (and then some). Another great book and with the sneak peek at Nightfall, I am left terribly wanting!!

Dark, intense, and packed with angst, revenge, and redemption.
Kill Switch is hands down my favorite so far in the Devil's Night series so far. Damon Torrance starts out as the villain everyone loves to hate, but Penelope Douglas somehow turns him into Dark, intense, and packed with angst, revenge, and redemption is messy, dark, emotional, and completely addictive. The dual timelines slowly unravel years of secrets, trauma, and misunderstandings, making every revelation hit harder. Winter's strength and resilience balance Damon's chaos perfectly, and watching them find their way through all the pain was incredibly satisfying. Dark, intense, and packed with angst, revenge, and redemption, Kill Switch delivered everything I wanted from a dark romance. Damon and Winter will stay with me for a long time. 🖤

AMAZING
This is probably one of my favorite books in the series so far. The character depth is unbelievable. And it is just twist after twist you don’t see coming. It is so good. There are uncomfortable and sad/hard to read parts and definitely trigger warnings, worth looking into. But seriously I loved it. Loved the book and the characters and everything. This book was an emotional roller coaster. I couldn’t read fast enough

Action-packed and Sizzling
This was a great addition to the series and definitely the darkest of the books so far. Please check TW before reading. I loved getting into Damon's head and that his love interest is blind. The representation was wonderful, and piecing together different moments from different timelines and bacstories was really great. I also really loved seeing Damon's softer side. BUT one major downfall. His past trauma, with his mother, was not handled, discussed, healed at all. It was referenced a lot obviously because it's a huge part of why he is the way he is... but it's not believable to me that he could have any healthy relationships without really facing that trauma and working on it. There was such an opportunity to really show how victims of childhood SA heal and regain their power and autonomy. None of that was done. It was like the author wanted to magically fix his issues because of him falling in love, and that's just completely unrealistic to me. Also, (spoiler) his mom/abuser NOT being his biological mom twist at the end... it robbed him of all his agency in the eleventh hour. And that twist wasn't even used to give him a semblance of family back at the end. There were so many achingly sweet, heartbreaking, and action-packed moments though. I did really enjoy the book and would recommend it for lovers of dark romance, bully romance, and fans of the author. I just really wanted a little more healing and resolution for Damon's character. I felt like he deserved a little better.

It was okay.
This book was okay. It was Damon’s story in the Devil’s Series. Out of the three I have read this was very slow compared to the others and I struggled to get through it. The book did not pick up until about 3/4 of the way through. Damon and Winter met when they were very young. They found a bond in a water fountain. Him hiding deep secrets and her just trying to find her way. They have adventures that night where Winter falls out of a treehouse and ends up blind. Her father blaming Damon and wanting her to stay away from him but it was really her father that caused the accident. Years later they meet again in high school where Damon is secretly keeping who he is from Winter and she thinks he is her mystery man. They end up having a night of passion that is recorded and that recording gets out. She is angry to find out it’s Damon all along and feels betrayed and he ends up going to jail for three years. It’s time for revenge. This is where their story rekindles and truly begins. Can they find their way back to the night they met in the fountain? What secrets will be revealed and what dangers will they each face? Spice 🌶️🌶️ Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️ Character Development 🎥🎥🎥 Writing Style ✍️✍️✍️ Tropes Stalker / obsession Forced Proximity Kidnapping Touch her and die Primal Play Controlling / Domineering Behavior

5 I See You Crowns
This is the story that you’ve been waiting for. Damon and Winter will leave you gasping and wanting for more! Their story is full of all the twist and turns that we’ve come to love and expect from Penelope delivered in a tension filled package of pure angst. This is one story that you cannot prepare for, so just sit back and enjoy the ride! “Now…” my sister’s new husband whispered in my ear. “Now, you belong to me.” I should never have doubted that Penelope would get me to love a character, because here I am, after Kill Switch, in love with Damon! Whom by the way I completely despised throughout the other stories. You get to really see him for the first time, and learn everything that he has had to endure throughout his life. It makes who is more understandable. It definitely does not negate what he’s done but it casts it in a whole new light. This man has been through something that many will never have to. And he’s figured out a way to compartmentalize that, is it the healthiest of ways absolutely not. But if you’ve never been in the same situation who are you to judge how someone handles their triggers. He endured years of abuse that has cause him some serious PTSD. And unbeknownst to Winter she’s the one that gave him his outlet to come back down from the brink. This bonds them down to his marrow. She’s helped him whether she knows it or not, she saved a piece of his soul that day. I love Winters character she is strong, stronger than what other’s give her credit for. And I absolutely adore that Damon fosters this strength. He never makes her feel like she can’t do something. Because to him she is capable of all things. This just melted my heart more for him. He builds her up but at the same time protects her against all else. "You won’t make me dirty. There is no you. There is no me. This is us. Us." Winter and Damon’s relationship is a series of miscommunication’s and accident’s that were taken out of context. When Damon loves he loves hard and he fell in love with Winter. But because of the circumstances regarding how she ended up blind he could not reveal himself to her. Which in turn caused so many more issues. At first I was so mad at Winter for what she did, but as the story progressed I understood it to an extent. She felt betrayed and lied to and so I get it. But she broke one of the remaining good pieces in him. Their love story was truly a hard fought love. They had to overcome so many obstacles to be together and to ultimately forgive each other for prior transgressions and just be together. I think this is why they are one of my favorites. They had to fight and claw their way to each other. And Damon never gave up! “Having Damon around was the only time I ever felt solid in my life,” he told me. “He’s powerful. But painful.” I love everything about this story. Each one gets better and better. This world that Penelope has created is all consuming and completely addictive. These characters and this story line are LIFE! Penelope’s words seep into your blood and become part of your marrow, you slowly become the story. You are feeling what they are feeling, every emotion, every tension, every sense of danger rips through you as if your there. You. Need. This. In. Your. Life!!!!
