Box Contains Triby with colored bumper, cable for the charge Review: Fantastic Family Phone and Great Speaker - I saw the other reviews and I wanted to give a more “family” oriented review for this device. I bought the Triby because I wanted to have more interaction with my young children (aged 4 and 6). Since we added this to the kitchen, it has become a huge attraction to them. The children love making drawings and send these to the device. They also love to call me (their father) or their mother using the very simple buttons. For example, they can call me when I am not at home for dinner and I can participate while they are sitting at the table. I can hear everyone perfectly, even though the device is some 2 meters away from them. I like it because it is not another “screen”, yes my children could also reach me using an iphone or an ipad but we don’t want them to use these devices too much. Triby is just perfect for improving family communication and at the same time decreasing exposure to more screens. By the way the Triby is also a very good quality speaker. Streaming any radio station in the world via internet radio. I did not have any problems with the radio and we exclusively use Iphones in the family - so it works great for us. It may look expensive but given that it can replace a home phone, an internet radio, a good connected speaker, it seems a bargain. Review: Sadly, great potential but seriously flawed. - This is an excellent device in principle. But it is flawed by poor software, both the app that you are required to download, and the device itself. I downloaded the app and connected via bluetooth per the instructions. I then attempted to connect it to wifi. It will only use the connection your phone is set to, and will not work on a 5 ghz router. You must change to 2.4 ghz to expect the internet radio to work. But, although the radio said I had a connection, it simply refused to play internet radio. I tried a number of stations but none would play. There is no way to control the radio on the radio itself. You can only use the app on your phone. This is a great shame because if the radio had worked as it shows on the video on their web site, it would be worth the money. What is not clear is why it is priced at £159 in the UK, and $85 in the USA.

This must have been a great idea...
....when they brought it up at the board meeting. In reality, for me., it's flawed. The cons: # The description continually mentions your 'smartphone'. What they actually mean is iphone as Android doesn't work. How they can release this without Android support is amazing. Hence lots of the features do not work. # I have an ipad so downloaded the app to that. Got it up and running but of course the phone function does not work. # The radio stations don't work [well not for me]. Tried for ages. # The design, which I assume is very hip, is more Early Learning Centre although I realise this will be fine for little people. The plastic coloured 'bumper' around the outside is not a tight fit so looks a bit cheap. The pros: # We have Spotify Premium and this works well and displays the track info etc. # The sound is very good and fills the kitchen with music. Excellent. # Sticks to the fridge very securely, difficult to knock off although it gives the appearance of being robust, if it was dropped onto the tiles I feel it would break. To sum up: 1. A great idea for the family kitchen 2. No Android support is plain daft and they should make this much more prominent. Therefore the phone and 'doodle' function don't work. 3. The radio stations don't work and having to have the charging cable attached as an arial is mad when the thing is stuck to the fridge with no charging point nearby. 4. The sound is very good but our Bluetooth speaker system is just as good. So, nice idea, good try, come back when you've worked it out. C+

A hands free Alexa device plus internet radio, bluetooth speaker with sketch & call abilty
Triby does what it says on the box, ideally suited to the kitchen with a strong fridge magnet to use hands free like amazons alexa devices. Being portable with re-chargeable batteries built in; there is no reason why you shouldn't also use it in the bedroom as it has a small analogue clock showing on its LCD display that can also show sketches or messages. It can make or receive calls from anyone else with the Triby app installed. Control your Alexa smart lights and devices with voice. The sound quality is very good for its size and It is an internet radio with 2 pre-set buttons, a good Bluetooth speaker, a message board and an internet telephone. When it receives a message a plastic yellow indicator physically pops out from the side of the unit to attract attention. Pushing it back in tells the sender you read it. It supports both type messages or sketches from your mobile app to the little LCD screen, there are two buttons for phone, it can do VoIP calls to the android or iPhone associated with that button or others from within the app where there is a also a good choice of internet radio stations to select. It could use a few more buttons on the front for pre-programmed favorites or calls. The kids will also love playing with Triby sending doodles and messages making it a true family device. Prices vary a lot so look out for when it on offer like I did.

Bad support - eventually got help.
I bought at the at launch from the amazon US website. Generally the product works fine at the beginning. One day it hang and won't reboot and i had to wait until the battery died. I emailed their support. No reponse. And now there is a problem with the yellow flag - it appears stuck. So there is no notification and since you cannot press on it, the app won't know if the receiver has read the message. Invoxia does not have phone line support. I emailed them a week ago and got an automated response and nothing since then. I am still stuck with the problem with no help what so ever. ----------------- Eventually got reponses from their support team - they are apologetic. They helped to solved the problem. -------------- Hopefully the experience will get better. Anyway my daughter calls me on it every day. She used to use her ipad for facetime but this is so much easier with a single button (she is five).

I bought this for our holiday rental and have been trying it out at home first. Found it extremely useful, both to use for internet radio and for its contact buttons. I have also used it as a speaker (through bluetooth) for calls (normal and Skype) made through my mobile. The visual message facility is cute too.

A super family oriented gadget
Triby is a lovely family oriented product: replacing the home telephone, connecting to music or radio, messaging - everyone can do it. A great gadget for parents looking to contact the kids without having the need for mobile phones.

It's a little misleading
The iPad does not dock like it depicts in the picture and I specifically bought it so I could dock both it and my phone. I would not have brought it had I known this. Other than that its an acceptable product.
