Very good family game for small children
This is a very nice family game. The designs are very nice, and at the bottom of each card it displays the whole family, which is good for younger children.Much better than other cheaper sets.

It's the classic game of Happy families... there are 7 families, and the person who collects the most, wins. Nothing new there, but what makes this game special are the beautiful illustrations. The families are: knight family, Ghost family, Royal family, frog family, fairies, witches and troubadour family (street entertainers) The rules come in 8 languages but the game is so simple. In essence, it's a game of memory and deduction (with some luck). 7 year olds usually ask random questions at first, but after playing a few times they begin to pay attention to other people's cards, not just their own. I play with 5 year olds up to teens in English language lessons and they love the cards. Good for practising 'Have you got..?' 'Could you give me...?' plus family vocab. I also use the cards for role playing games, as they are so appealing. Children I teach enjoy creating there own families too. So there are a couple of things you can do with the cards beyond the game itself. The cards come in a neat box, which is great for travel and it's very durable although the cards are looking a bit worn after a year of playing regularly. Even if you already own the original Happy Families, I think this would make a nice addition to any collection.
