Hakuna Pets Dog & Cat Door for Sliding Glass Door - Mesh Screen Insert

Was looking for something to attach to our screen door for our apartment. It doesn’t latch to the door but that’s fine. It is not however big enough for a German shepherd as it claims. We have a 50 pound doodle and she kept hitting her back on the top going through so we got the extension and it’s now perfect. Exactly what we wanted to let our pup play on the balcony and not let flies in! Separately it says to simply slide the extension in and put screws in. Um… no we had to hammer it in and we didn’t bother with the screws that didn’t line up cause it wasn’t going anywhere with how hard we had to hammer it in.

This is so great! I LOVE that I can just pop it in when the weather is cool, and take it out instantly. My ONLY issue is that we have 8 ft high patio doors so there’s an open gap at the top of about 8 inches. We’ll add a piece of cardboard to accommodate. We’re in Texas and can only use it for a month or so till it’s too hot for a screen door. The dogs LOVE being able to go in and out at night. No more getting up to let them out during the night.

It's pretty well built, and the size adjustment is easy to use. My only complaint is that the thumb screws which hold the height adjustment tend to keep the sliding door from closing onto the pet door/screen so it lets a bunch of mosquitoes and bees in...which sort of defeats the purpose of a screen insert with a pet door.

1. the product is easy to install, EXCEPT for the fact that its design didn't factor in the sliding door lock mechanism that keeps the dog door from being flush to the frame, so we had to remove the lock. 2. its material seems to be sturdy enough for our 2 little ones. 3. the weather isn't a big factor, no direct sun on ours, and maybe occasional blowing rain from the patio, so only time will tell. 4. I could give a 5 star to the overall score, but for 1 MAJOR issue - who's misguided idea was it to use a frosted flap door instead of a clear one?! We HATE the frosted flap door! Animals are visual! The flap needs to be clear so they can see where they're going & what's on the other side! My 2 are having the hardest time with that! I have to push or pull the flap, just enough to show them the way is clear to go out or come in - but each time they have to use it again, they stop because they can't see. If you make a clear one, I'd appreciate a replacement please! I'm sure other pet owners have experienced the same issue, if not I will apologize. But if you provide a clear flap, or can direct me to finding one, I would, and my dogs would also, greatly appreciate it! Thanks, a semi-satisfied customer.

I got a size large for my Samoyed and he fits through very well with one extension at the bottom. It is thin, but for the cheap price I kind of expected that. The weatherproof paneling is sold separately, which I didn’t realize, so until I get that or put in plexiglass I can’t use in the rain. Until I move into a more permanent location and buy a better quality door, this is going to do the trick perfectly.

I took off the swing door and put the cats' playpen, catio tunnel through it. Then made corners to stop any bugs or squirrels from coming through where the round tunnel didnt fill the rectangle corners perfectly. Now the cats can go in or out of their catio as they want. I don't have to worry about food, water, litter box, bed or toys for them outside. Just open door throw the tunnel and collapsible playpen outside and drag it back in and tie it up when done. Simple, easy, and they love it.

Works as intended and super easy to install. Fits standard sliding glass doors. I wish there was a feature to block the flap to prevent pets from going inside/outside instead of taking it out of the door frame but it’s easy enough to move so not a big deal. Just make sure you can fit through the remaining width of the open door otherwise you’ll have to remove it and put it back (though it’s easy to do). My 2 dogs can go through it easily. The largest is my standard sized golden doodle (60#).

Needs weather stripping to keep the bugs out. Falls out easily if sliding door is used by human. It is a great idea, but difficult to keep in place.

Cats love it easy for them to use

Good quality but only good for wide patio doors. Otherwise you have to take it out every time you want to go out your self.

If I’m completely honest it’s probably a 3 out 5 star product in terms of quality. So why give it 5 star?? Because my balcony door is not a standard size. Apparently there are two standard sizes of patio doors that most of pet companies make and neither has the right height range. My balcony is 84 inches tall for reference. I was hesitant to get this because what I really wanted was one with the glass, but I searched high and low and unless I wanted to pay big bucks for a custom fitted one, the was virtually my only option. So I bought it along with some plexiglass and some weather proofing strips. The door has the grooves that plexiglass can slide in. The plexiglass came in a roll, and I cut it to size but it wouldn’t lay flat and would pop out of the grooves which is why you can see some black duct tape, but this is my fault for purchasing the wrong type of plexiglass not an issue with the patio door. Anyway I was satisfied with the end result. We got it at the beginning of January and it blocked most of the cold air and we still stayed warm. Still doing well and I gotta say I’m super happy I ended up getting. I’m glad it’s even available considering I had no other options. So the extra stars are for 1 for making a product that fits my balcony door, 2 for being super affordable compared to other patio doors and 3 for keeping my dog and cat super happy as they can people watch whenever they feel like it without having to wait for me to open the balcony door. Edit: For reference my dog is about 55 lb, mixed shepherd breed. Hates motorcycles so he runs through the flap door at full speed whenever he hears one and the patio door has not budged.

Sehr gute Qualität. Eher für Katzen und kleine Hunde. Da wir 5 Katzen haben sehr gut geeignet. Das Magnet musste ich entfernen, da die Klappe sonst zu fest gehalten wird, jedenfalls für unsere Katzen. Eine hat es bis heute nicht begriffen wie das gehen soll, obwohl sie zuschaut wenn die anderen durchgehen.
