ULTRALOQ U-Bolt WiFi Smart Lock with Door Sensor, App Remote Access

Works well! The app has decent features and customization. The proximity unlock works 95% of the time. The proximity lock for some reason is a bit finicky but their customer support is very good.

This product is amazing. Does what it says. I love the auto unlock feature when you approach the door. What's even more amazing is the customer service. They follow up within 24 hours and if they don't hear from you after their follow-up they reach out to make sure everything is okay. This is an A1 company I would definitely buy from them again

My Yale/Nest lock became increasingly flakey, going offline sporadically until, after resetting it many times, it eventually refused to connect at all. (I worked the problem for a *long* time before giving up and buying this as a replacement. There were a lot of people online with the same problem and the "fixes" didn't help.) I was pleasantly surprised that the installation was easy. The only part of the installation that was poorly documented was the bit about the door sensor. The door sensor monitors whether the door is physically shut or not (since the deadbolt can be operated regardless of whether the door is open or closed). I watched the YouTube video and it explained things better that the written instructions, so, overall, installation was problem-free. The app is a little over-engineered, in my opinion. You set up "Addresses", "Locations" within an Address, and "Devices" within a location. I suppose it makes sense if, for example, you owned several properties with multiple buildings on each, with every unit in every building having two or more devices. For a person like me, with just one lock at a vacation home, it's overkill and unnecessarily complicated. The features of the app are great, comparable to what I had with the Yale/Nest lock. The two major differences are 1) that the ULTRALOQ has a sensor for when the door is open or shut and 2) the way to handle dead batteries. The Yale/Nest lock has contacts on the outside where you hold up a 9-volt battery to the lock, powering it long enough to get it unlocked. The ULTRALOQ has physical keys. I like having the physical keys very much, but they are no use if the physical key is not present. For example, if I wanted to give access to guests and the batteries were dead, I would have to drive hours to meet with them and get the door unlocked. It would be ideal to have both features: battery terminals AND physical keys. But I can't really knock it for not having a feature that I already knew it lacked. That said, the ULTRALOQ app tells me how strong the batteries are, which the Yale/Nest lock does not do. Another cool feature of the ULTRALOQ is that I can take it off the WiFi (and lose remote control capability) to extend battery life. I don't want to do that, but it's cool that it's possible. Replacing the batteries is easier with the ULTRALOQ. You need a tool or thin toothpick to get the battery cover off the Yale/Nest lock. The ULTRALOQ cover comes off just by applying gentle pressure. The ULTRALOQ has an "autolock" feature which seems a little too aggressive. I turned this off because I sometimes want to leave the front door open without the lock taking it upon itself to lock within seconds. There is also a feature to automatically unlock whenever a configured Bluetooth device approaches. That's also too automatic for me, but some users might appreciate it. Updating the firmware on the ULTRALOQ was a big pain. It took several attempts which failed randomly, despite the WiFi being strong and my phone being right next to the lock. That did not bode well, as it reminded me of trouble I've had with other devices. But it eventually worked. I would change my rating from four to five stars if the firmware updates worked more reliably and if the app was organized more intuitively. But, so far, the lock is working well and it has almost all the features I want.

It has been just what I needed! Installation was relatively easy. It helped to watch a video. Setting up the WiFi and app is a must! It makes the experience even better.

Works great. I have three of them and I’m now looking to add a few more. The app that they have works great and shows the locks as groups is this nice to open the app to see which locks are unlocked which locks are locked. You can also set it to lock as soon as you shut the door.

So far, 5 days in I would say the Ultraloq is a complete failure. I purchased this for the primary front door lock at a home which we are not in attendance for months at a time but require temporary access for workers and guests. For this it is a complete and utter fail. What I have learned - 1) the unit does not have any reliable wi-fi. My $10 remote outlet switches are more reliable. The unit was installed in the front door with line of sight access to a 4 month old Orbi Mesh access point, which supports both 2.4 and 5Ghz. The AP is located about 15 feet from the front door with no obstructions. The unit requires wifi for most all functions on the app, unless your within short bluetooth range. In three weeks the unit has not remained connected to the wifi network more than 3 days. There is no particular reason it disconnects, I have a highly automated home and every other device, phone, computer, wifi lights, wifi plugs, wifi cameras, wifi ring doorbell, wifi ring remote ringer, wifi clocks, wifi interior door locks, etc. all have remained connected. The only single failed device is the Ultraloq/app. 2) When the lock disconnects it does not have the capability to reconnect, regardless of the reason for disconnect. This means that if for any reason including just random disconnect occurs on the lock it will not reconnect. The ONLY way to reconnect is to complete multiple phone reboots, remove the wifi connection from the app, connect to the lock ONLY via bluetooth, then reinstall the wifi connection. Each time it disconnects this is the process. I discussed this at length with Ultraloq tech support, this is the required procedure. This means you cannot operate these units remotely. So unless you plan to be at your home, everyday, and within bluetooth range, everyday, these units are not going to function. 3) The issue is software/firmware and is the same for all locks Ultraloq sells. The Ultraloq personnel will attempt to push it off on your wifi. They will tell you that mesh systems are not reliable (despite the actual fact that wifi mesh systems are more reliable offer greater resiliency and greater coverage areas), or that the locks require 2.4Ghz only (Most mesh systems offer both 2.4 and 5ghz and self select the one the device can use). 4) Ultraloq denies this issue exists but it is detailed by multiple users in the their own community tech pages. 5) Even with the "smart" open and autolock feature the system can and does fail. If only close the door partially the lock will make a couple of attempts to lock, once it can't the lock entirely fails but does not show the failure in the app. The lock will have to be manually opened, then the door closed for it to reengage. If you open the door or close the door without the manual opening of the lock the unit will not autolock. 6) logs are unreliable. Further attempting to access them can take minutes for each screen listing of logs. For me the app tends to timeout multiple times before presenting the data. I have found no way to download or access logs other than the log screen. 7) once the unit connects to a phone via bluetooth it will not connect via wifi, so you have to turn off your bluetooth, reboot the app, in order to get the app to access the lock via wifi. Despite all the features and the great reviews, these locks are not for reliable, secure use of a primary lock in a home or other structure.

Has worked perfectly for 5 years.

I got the lock with wifi and without the fingerprint reader. Just the key pad. The lock looks elegant and feels very solid. The installation is easy and works well. Of note is that the lock's deadbolt needs to be able to slide freely without much resistance into the jamb portion of the frame. While the lock was able to get it locked, it always used three consecutive locking actions to get it in as far as possible. This is a great feature, but also told me it would work better if there's less resistance. So filed away a little bit of the striker plate in the frame and now the lock closes with a single action. Initially my lock would only connect to bluetooth on my phone, but not to my wifi, even though the signal was strong. I tried a few times to get it connected as instructed in the manual, but to no avail. I then contacted Ultraloq's customer service and they were very responsive and updated the lock's firmware. Now it connects well and works perfectly as intended. I have it connected to my Alexa and every night have a routine to automatically lock the deadbolt. So now I don't have to worry about if the lock is closed when I go to bed. So far I am very pleased with the lock and the service.

I’ve had this lock for a year and suddenly the lock button from outside stopped working. I was very frustrated as it was only a year old. I raised a ticket in the app, to my surprise, in 30 minutes I already got a call from their support line with suggestions how to fix it. It turned out that the wire inside the lock got disconnected, within 7 minutes I already had all fixed.

Worked well but needs a wifi bridge which can be a hassle but it was ok for us.

Great little lock to replace my ubolt pro with fingerprint reader. The major advantage here is the door sensor. This means that it only relocks when the door is closed. The other lock (without sensor) was destroyed by being slammed shut after relocking automatically ; when the lock was already out and this shook the internal mechanism loose. The other still lasted 5 years despite this. The app is fine if basic.

Si por alguna razón, alguna pieza del kit no se puede instalar en tu puerta, puedes usar la pieza que ya tienes en tu cerrojo actual y va a funcionar. Importante señalar, que la primera vez que se usa no abrió de manera total de forma automática, se atascaba. Se soluciona usando un poco de WD40 y listo. A veces tarda unos segundos en conectarse al celular y abrir con la aplicación, pero no es nada que sea más incómodo que llevar llave física a todos lados. Muy bueno en general.

I’ve had nothing but ultraloq for a while now...never an NFC unit, though. Two recent NFC units don’t work well, have been nothing but trouble. The fingerprint units i needed to replace weren’t much better. I got only 3 years out of them. The only units with no issues and still going strong are the simple wifi keypad units. I will be exploring other options. Seller refers you to Support and the experience just gets worse from there. I’m done.
