If you are trying to read this cover to cover, you will feel it's a lot to get through or that the author waffles. Using this as a reference book alongside my online A+ studies, I have found the defitions and chapters to be very succint and informative, better than my online materials! Excellent study book, very clear print with quality paper, generous margins, and it looks lovely too. The fact this book actually manages to cram everything from total beginner to advanced is in fact an impressive feat more than a downside! Review: Excellent resource for IT Technicians, not just A+ exams. - Excellent book for Computer Technician's in general and for A+ 900 series exams in particular. I have heard much about the Mike Meyer's style of writing (never having read any of his material before) and I have to say I am a fan. As someone who studied computing years ago and is looking to return to the field, I have found this an excellent resource so far, so much so that I have already booked to do the A+ exams, so confident am I that I will get everything I need from this book combined with some tutoring I am currently receiving. The book is very easy to follow and I believe even someone with limited IT knowledge could gain a lot from it. Great resources on the enclosed CD including PDF copy of the book and a 10% discount code off the exam fee too. All in all I would recommend this to anyone with an interest in PC's in particular and IT in general.

Wish I'd bought this a year ago.
Although the book gives more information than needed for the A+, it does it in a way that fills out the narrative so that you get a better understanding of the topic. Rather than just hit you with a bunch of facts to learn. There are a few times when you feel 'well that escalated quickly', like around chapter 12 where you go from this is a keyboard, a mouse, a hard drive to suddenly setting permissions and learning command lines. I think this is because of what's on the A+ rather than how the author would write it if he was writing a straight guide to computers. All in all, the book keeps being interesting when read front to back on first read through. And has enough notes and tips that you can take more interest in and take your own notes on for subsequent readings. I wish I'd bought this book a year ago instead of 4 weeks ago as my exam is in a few weeks so am cramming it a bit.

Hilarious and educational
If you're studying for the A+ certification, don't pass by this book. Unlike many factual authors, Meyers actually has a sense of humor and it shows on nearly every page of this publication - that made not just easier but actually fun to get through this brick of a tome. He uses fun and well thought through examples that make complex systems easy to visualise, and the little questionnaires at the end of each chapter are good pointers for what you understood and what you should review. I learned so much about computers and software I never thought I'd be able to from just a book simply thanks to his style of writing that kept me interested and hungry for learning more.

Use "lock down" to learn new skills.
Preparing to update my IT skills, in order to fully enjoy my hobby of upgrading gaming PCs and with a view to re entering the IT industry (albeit at a low level), have decided to invest in Mr Meyers' offering, as I like his easy, yet informative delivery of what can be a complex subject, along with study tips, demystifying the process. Once I have gained 90% proficiency with this edition, I will then buy the latest edition, then using that as a final review will book and sit the Exams. Highly recommended.

Buon libro
Ottimo libro per studiare in funzione della certificazione CompTIA A+! Il libro è stato esaustivo e mi ha permesso di passare l'esame senza troppi problemi, malgrado alcune domande fossero complesse.

Read it front to back, passed the exams -- I'd say it's definitely all-in-one!
Bought the book, read it. I mean -read- it. Thankfully, the author does a great job of explaining without being dry. Passed my exams July 2019 before they retired the exam version (901/902) If you're reading this and looking at the new exam version -- As long as it's by Mike Meyers, you're in good hands. Great as a study tool, still using it every week professionally as a quick reference guide too.

Rookie's opinion.
I have read good and bad reviews about this book, some saying how this is not a good book because its content its a little outdated and how they knew most of the information already, i think that this is comming from people that have been working with computes for quite a while but let me give you my personal opinion as well as a lottle background about me and maybe that will make my review make more sense. I have been intwrested in compiters since i was 8 years old, but i never had a chance to fully discover the amazing things that can be done with them until i had a little taste about it by pursuing and completing my associates degree in science of information technology, however i am still years away from becoming a technician. I bought this book because obtaining the compTIA A+ certification greatly increases the chances of making it into the IT field and let me tell you that this book is worth every last penny that i paid for it, it is full of useful information not only about computers, but it also helps you realize that this field is not only about being the best at fixing computers but it also will train you on the way that you have to present yourself in order to provide excellent service. Bottom line, if you are a beginner and want to pursue a carreer on IT this book would prove to be an amazing tool to help you reach out your goal, after this i am aiming for my network+ certification and u can bet that i would return and buy this book from mike meyers as well. For those that decide to buy this book and are also pursuing to get A+ certify i wish you good luck and hope everything goes well for you. Fabian Fuentes

Full of valuable informations!
I've studied the old version of exam " 220- 801&802 " since 2 years but couldn't make the exam for some personal reasons. The old version i studied from was Microsoft's version , and now i'm preparing for the newest version of A+ exam which is " 220- 901&902 " I noticed that Mike Meyers's book included more details that let you understand the whole idea better than Microsoft's edition. Beside there's a section in every chapter called " Beyond A+ ", which includes some important simple information about things that this A+ exam has missed.
