perfect for keeping little nashers away from post
I have never reviewed anything on amazon and bought numerous items over the years. I always find the reviews extremely helpful before making my purchase and as this item only has 5 I felt I should reinforce their positive comments. My adorable little puppy eats our post and as lovely as she is she finally destroyed a car log book making it time to take action. I really did not want to be screwing an unsightly post cage to the inside of my pvc front door and googled alternatives and snail sakk popped up. Must say on first look I felt it was rather expensive for a fabric post bag. BUT I must say it is excellent and most effective. It is absolutley perfect and has worked every day since. It even looks neat on the door. It is as simple as it states with strong sticky and velcro and i cannot praise it enough. So if you need an alternative from a post cage of just need to protect your post from a hungry little predator, go for it. You will not be disappointed. Although I cannot guarantee how strong it would be against a larger breed, I only have a little fluffy mongrel

Tidy accessory that works well
Having just had a new composite door installed, I really did not want to be drilling holes in it to affix a mail catcher. My principal requirement was to have a device that caught my mail and stopped it lying on the floor. This was for 2 reasons: firstly security - if I am away for a few days, I don’t want mail strewn on the floor to be an obvious indication to the undesirable opportunists that I was away. Secondly access - mail lying on the floor impedes opening of the door (door open inwards and has little clearance above the floor). When looking at designs available, the classic cage did not meet my requirements - ugly, bulky, needs screwing to door and does nothing to meet the security need. However, the snail sakk is discrete, was available in a colour to match my door, attaches with Velcro (no physical damage to door required) and looked like it met my needs. I have been very pleased with it, it’s unobtrusive, stylish, very well made and catches the mail perfectly. It is easy to check for mail and empty. The only negative, in my opinion, is that the design incorporates a see through window towards the bottom of the bag…great for seeing if you have mail (although the mail does not always drop down to the bottom, so can remain unseen) but defeats the object of collecting mail discretely during short absences. It would be good to have a version available without this window - I have spray painted mine, so it is now suitably obscure. I don’t have pets - but, suspect that the snail sakk might not be the best solution for homes with a poorly behaved animal

Simply Brilliant - Brilliantly Simple!
Getting older is not the fun it's made out to be. There are some advantages but on the whole I have to admit that the only reason I go along with it is that I don't fancy the alternative. The relevance here is that both my wife and I have developed back problems and picking post up from the floor is, quite literally, a pain. So I searched Amazon for a small tray or box to attach to the inside of the porch door in order to catch the post and make it easier to retrieve. The problems were that, first of all, we have a uPVC door and I'd rather not screw into it; and second, as there is a wall immediately to the right of the door, anything of any useful size would hit the wall. Then I discovered this item. It looked too simple to work and not really a durable answer; but ti was this or nothing. So I gave it a go. Bingo! This was indeed the answer to our needs. It was simple to attach to the door by means of self-adhesive velcro and holds letters and small packages easily. In fact, anything that will fit through the letterbox will be held firmly in the Snail Sakk with no problem. The door opens easily without any of the problems a box or tray would have caused and the mail is easy to collect. In fact, I couldn't fault this in any way. If we go away for a holiday, it's easy to remove the Snail Sakk so that if there's a build up of mail it will drop to the floor ready for our aching backs to retrieve it on our return, when it can easily be re-attached. I was greatly impressed by such a simple solution.. Like all simple solutions, you wonder why nobody thought of it before. Ah well, now they have, thank goodness. Pity it can't filter out junk mail and bills... I would recommend this wholeheartedly - it's pretty well perfect! And the magnifier/ruler/letter-opener that comes with it is a useful extra.

Expensive, but a great product.
Bought for elderly mother. Really easy to fit. Catches the mail, keeping it out of reach of the dogs, but within reach of frail elderly mother (who is unable to bend down to pick it up from the floor, or to wrestle it from the jaws of a dog). The bag is soft fabric, and wouldn't protect the mail from a dog who wanted to chew it, but does keep it "out of sight." making it less of a temptation. Good choice of colours to blend in with the door, so is unobtrusive. Hangs flat against the door when empty. Easy to reach in to remove mail, without needing to open the velcro. My mother's old fashioned door design means that a metal cage stands proud of the door across most of its width and down both sides, so letters drop out of it onto the floor. A 95-year-old neighbour is so impressed that she now wants a Snail Sakk too - especially as her door opens against the wall so has no room for a traditional metal mail cage. At £20 to £25, the Snail Sakk seems very expensive for what it is, and it is odd that some colours are £5 more expensive than others, but overall I'm really pleased with this purchase, and would recommend it.

Does the job and looks great.
I LOVE this! My dog has always had a tendency to try and kill any mail which comes through the door; I’d forgotten just how much as I’ve had an external mail box for around a year. Having moved house and having a letterbox again has been a bit of a shock. She’s matured from being a puppy and she’s like lightening now. I’d thought of getting a mesh box for the back of the door but that may have just felt like a challenge to her! I saw this product and thought it was worth a try. It’s brilliant! The fabric is lovely, it is extremely easy to attach and it looks very neat on the back of the door. The post makes very little noise as it slides into the pocket and SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW ITS THERE!! An added bonus is that I don’t have to reach down to pick the post up from the floor, hadn’t thought about that but I’m loving that too. It’s a really good size and seems to cope with everything that’s come through the door so far - even small parcels. I’d definitely recommend this if you want something to collect your post in, its far nicer than a mesh box and it keeps the draughts out. What’s not to like!

Problem Solved!!!
Review is completed with assistance from Penny the miniature daschund, aged 1 year, 10 months. The problem began after my Wife bought Christmas presents for the dog and though it was cute watching her open them. Dog then thought that everything that was dropped on the ground was to be opened. But in this day and age, it's too expensive to get rid of your Wife and dog, so a simpler solution was required! The Snail Sakk, not to be confused with a Snail's Sakk (something very different here in Scotland) is a Five Star item for a number of reasons. 1. It is so easy to install with the velcro strips - no need to drill holes in front/security doors. 2. Against a door, Dog doesn't see that it's sitting there, doing its job. We've got a white door and cream variant sakk. 3. The mail slips in quietly and Dog doesn't know anything's been delivered. 4. It looks far nicer than a mail cage. 5. It's very well made, feels like a quality product and is so, so soft against your face. Or, so i'm told. From Penny I haven't seen the mail in weeks so can't assist in the opening anymore, but i've been told, that thanks to the Snail Sakk i'll be around to celebrate my second birthday! My Mummy and Daddy seem a lot happier to see me when they come home and i'm back to being their favourite...well at least until the baby is born. Thank you Snail Sakk!!!

Won't really discourage your pets but handy for catching the mail.
I purchased this to discourage the dogs from grabbing the mail as it came through the letter box and putting holes in it. It is well made and has a good quality feel to it certainly doesn't feel like a second at all. I think to be fair if you have a problem with your pets grabbing mail then this isn't going to discourage them for long. It stopped them for a day or two, but they will just grab this instead and as it's velcro attached, its very easy for them to pull this off the door. The real solution to the problem is spending proper time training them and this may be a useful tool in doing that. Personally after using this for a few months, its handy for holding the mail but it does tend to struggle with A4 letters and small packets in my letter box, it's often on the floor when we get home too. If you have problem pets who like to chew mail or dont like the postman then a cage may be better to protect your letters, if not then its certainly handy mail catcher and nicely put together too.

What a great piece of kit!!!
Absolutely amazing!! Have to admit I was a little unsure about this as it was a bit pricey but when I added up the cost of the parcels my crazy dog "Tilly" had destroyed, it seemed worth taking the chance. What a difference, no more destroyed contact lenses, amazon parcels or coming home to bits of cardboard and paper all over the hallway!!!! Very simple to install, done in a couple of minutes. Beside the benefit of intact post it also muffles the sound of post arriving so the manic barking has also massively reduced, bonus!!! I have had it about 3 months now, I did wonder if my bonkers dog would be able to pull it from the door as it is secured with Velcro but so far so good!!! If you go away for a week or two I would recommend removing it as I don't think it would be able to hold that much post but it certainly can cope with a long weekend away.

I was skeptical, but it's so great!
I read a lot of reviews before buying this because it seemed too easy and people were almost suspiciously positive about it. But I'm sold! We've had this installed for like a month now and it's been great! I left a note on our door for our mail carrier to let them know we had a mail catcher installed, since until it gets used a bit it does feel a little stiff when you're putting mail through the slot. That seemed to work great! No interruptions with our mail service and now more letters piling up on the floor. :) My biggest reason for purchase was to try and help insulate my mail slot. It worked really well! It's obviously not a perfect seal or anything, but it's a big and noticeable improvement! I was also worried that the velcro would give up right away or that the adhesive strip would be cheaply made. But so far, it's been fine! I yank it off every day to grab my mail and I don't see any edges pulling up or anything. It feels very sturdy!

Love the quality!
The Velcro adhesive is strong. The fabric is a lovely velvety texture. Stitching looks well done. I probably should have chosen a different color, but it looks clean and neat! I'm looking forward to getting our mail. Thanks Snail Sakk!

Keeps my mail in one place
This is exactly what I was looking for as my mailbox is a slot through my garage door. I was tired of having to pick up my mail each day, which often would be spewed across the floor and dirty after failing onto the dusty ground. This bag is big enough to catch several days of mail if I can't get to them each day. Installation was easy and I like that there is a slit in the bag so you can just reach in to get your mail. If that is too cumbersome, you can also remove the top portion of the bag from the velcro and have easier access to the interior. It's a bit pricey, but it's a good quality bag and certainly worth it to keep my mail in one place and clean!

Great product that keeps your mail clean!
Great product that prevents mail from falling on the floor! I'm planning on buying another for a friend. It's one of those simple, but very useful inventions that you wish you would have developed. Installation is incredibly easy...only took a minute. Before I bought it, I was worried that the velcro wouldn't stand the test of time if you had to peel it open every day to get the mail, but it turns out that you can easily access the mail from the side opening so that the velcro never needs to be opened. Overall quality is extremely good, and I look forward to years of use. FYI, it easily holds large catalogs (hundreds of pages).
